Title: Anime Therapy panel submitted
Post by: PaladinCecil79 on August 08, 2015, 09:24:14 pm
If I can make Kumoricon next year, I was thinking of submitting a panel where people who have had difficult anime-related experiences can come to talk about them and get advice for it.
I know it's not uncommon for fans to have difficult anime-based experiences, whether it's something painful they saw in an actual anime, if they've been treated like dirt for liking it by people who aren't fans or if it's bad experiences with other otaku.
I'm not an actual counselor or therapist myself, but I do have a lot of advice that I can share with others who have had hard times and I often counsel people at different forums when they're having troubles.
That and I've had my share of anime-themed hardships myself and would be willing to share them as well.

I'd be very interested in that. You'd have to REALLY watch for derisive behavior and be ready to kick people out if they're disrespectful.

Agreed. If I do it, I'd like to have one or two people volunteer, who have good counseling skills.

I wanted to let you all know that I submitted Anime Therapy for this year. I did it for the first time at Sac Anime five months ago, where it went over great and if it gets approved for Kumoricon, I'll look forward to holding it.
I also wanted to mention that I will make sure I make it this year.
Last year, I was going through some hard times and felt that I wouldn't have been able to enjoy things as much, but I'm really looking forward to coming this time.

Huh. Never thought I'd say this but this may be helpful to me this year.

Good luck.
