Title: New/Old Anime?
Post by: CyberIncision on June 01, 2015, 10:15:17 am

I need something new and scary to watch. It doesn't have to be a new anime, just "new" to me. I specifically like Horror (More murder/ghosts and paranormal, less alien/secret organization). This can be anime or old scary Asian horror shorts. Manga and urban legends are also acceptable. I have already seen:

Another
Attack On Titan
Petshop Of Horrors
Higurashi: When They Cry
Gantz
Boogiepop Phantom
High School Of The Dead
Elfen Lied (Listed for content)
Hellsing/Hellsing OVA (Listed for Content)

Corpse Party

So PLEASE if you have any suggestions let me know :D Im dying for some new horror anime.

Lets see...
Junji Ito is a great horror manga ka, there have been live actions made of some of his work like Tomie and uzumaki,
there is his museum of horror and Gyo:the death stench creeps
Vampire Hunter D- so classic
(2 movies and a TON of books)
Need to think about it, my manga collection is in storage

Not really "scary"... definitely gore. Tokyo Ghoul. I love it so much.

I am like six or seven chapters into Tomie oh my goodness! I also just read one called Jisatsu Circle that was really good! Thank you for the suggestions!

And I started Tokyo Ghoul awhile back but I moved to a place with shitty internet XD It was pretty good though!

Tomie was one of my favorite horror manga titles.  I'm glad someone else recommended it.

While I don't see it as Horror, I know others do: "Future Diary."
I haven't watched this myself, but I've heard good things about "Deadman Wonderland."
Another one that I've only heard good things about is "Parasyte: The Maxim."
I've seen a promo for this, and it looks interesting: "Ghost Hunt."
"Yami Shibai is decent, if you're into traditional Japanese ghost stories.
"Hell Girl" seems interesting, even though I've only seen the first episode.
You should also check out "Ninja Scroll."
Oh yeah, one more that I've heard good things about that I haven't seen yet: "Doomed Megalopolis."
"Shiki."  One of the best vampire anime titles ever, and THE best of the new millennium... that's still a horror.

HAVE FUN!!!

if you want to go for an old school anime try Vampire Princess Miyu. It's not so much gory, but more of a psychological horror.

Seraph of the End is such an amazing anime, and you must watch it!

While it may look cutesy at first, School-Live!/Gakkou Gurashi! would qualify as a horror setting, I think.  What with being set during a zombie apocalypse and addressing psychological effects of such a state on the characters.  I highly recommend it!

Gakkou Gurashi is really, really good. Just make it through the first episode and you can see why it's horror, but most of ep 1 deceives you. Kind of like pulling a madoka.

The anime isn't complete yet (it's running this season and currently on ep 8) but it's pretty much anime of the season for me.
