This year, we are running two games: the usual daytime match on Monday, and a late-night match Sunday night. Since it will be after curfew, you will need to be 18-years or older to participate in the Sunday match. You can sign up for one or both games - if you are offering different cosplays for each match, please be sure to submit a separate form.
For each game, we are looking for 32 pieces and a couple of chess masters. You do not have to know how to play chess to be a piece (it is much appreciated if you are wanting to be a chess master, at least the basic moves, since they are controlling the game.)
These are both unscripted, just-for-fun games. My preference is that every one gets to participate, so don't be expecting the best game of chess ever... just entertaining (https://www.kumoricon.org/forums/Smileys/default/wink.gif)
This is Cosplay Chess, so you character cosplay will be the deciding factor in who gets to participate. This is not a first-come, first-serve sign-up, so you don't have to worry about submitting your form right away... it is more important that your cosplay is complete, and preferably well-known characters. This is a separate event from the Cosplay Contest, so you will not be judged on the quality of the cosplay, or whether you made it yourself - you just need to be a recognizable character.
To sign-up to be a chess piece, you need to do the following:

- Fill out the registration form (https://www.kumoricon.org/files/forms/2014/cosplay_chess_2014_registration.pdf)
- Submit the form and photos of your cosplay to chess@kumoricon.org
You must include photos of you in your cosplay, or of your cosplay itself (I can't reiterate this enough, guys... if you don't send pics, you don't get to play). Images of your character will not suffice. Since this is not first-come, first-serve, you have time to wait until your cosplay is complete... there is no penalty for being one of the last ones to register. You are also allowed to submit more than one cosplay (just submit a separate form for each.)
Also... if your "piece" is more than one person, please submit one form for each person, but indicate on your form that they are one "piece". Due to space constraints on the board, I will limit the number of such pieces that will be accepted, and no more than 3 people to one "piece".

Sign-ups will be open until August 23rd. Players will be notified of their team and position the week before con, and will be required to attend a pre-meeting before the event (Sunday night for late-night, Monday morning for daytime). Please keep in mind... the timing of the Monday pre-meeting is usually during hotel checkout, so factor that in to your plans.

Just to be clear (since I don't think my reading skills are at 100% right now): Are we able to submit the same character to both matches?

Just submitted a Late night application for myself as Booker Dewitt and a Daytime application for myself as Miles Edgeworth and my buddy as Phoenix Wright! DIdn't get picked last year, hopefully this year!

Looks like I will only be able to participate in the regular one on Monday. I have two other panels I am helping out with that are the same time as the pre-meet and game on Sunday night. Oh well. :P

Yes, you can submit the same character for both matches.

As of right now I have replied to every registration I received - if you did not receive a reply from me, I did not receive you form so please try again.
To clear up some of the common questions I have received:
You do not need a badge number. I recycled the form from last year (it was easier :) ) and forgot to remove that part. Sorry about the confusion.
You can enter more than one cosplay. If you want to enter one specific for Late Night, and a different one for Daytime, that's fine - just be sure it's indicated correctly on the form. If you have 2 or 3 cosplays you want considered, that's fine too. Makes for a harder decision from me sometimes, but it's good to have options ;D
You can enter the same cosplay for both games. There is no rule that it has to be different.
I have received a fair number of entries, but there's always room for more. And there is still time to enter (you have until Saturday night) so if you're been procrastinating, get your form and pics in!

Hey guys,
Sign-ups are closed for this year, and I have replied to every sign-up I received. If you did not get a reply from me, I did not get a form from you. If you sent one and didn't get a reply, then email me about it Sunday; otherwise, sorry about that and hope you try again next year.
Additionally, if I asked you for more information (your from was blank, you didn't send pics), then you need to get those in ASAP to be considered. As we are so close to con, teams will be most likely be chosen tomorrow (if all goes as planned) and posted either tomorrow night or Monday (depending on how it goes). So its very important to get that info in as soon as you can.
Looks like we've got some fun entries this year :)

Glad I got my app turned in on time. I'm GONNA make it this year, fatigue won't get the better of me! Ya know... despite my current job being from 11pm to 7am xD. I can't wait!!
