So, I'm planning on doing a humanoid female Toothless from How to Train your Dragon for Kumoricon 2015. (Yes, I'm planning already) I'm trying to think of ways to make my eyes look good. I've thought of contacts, full eye contacts (would rather avoid), or even possibly drawing the eyes on over my eyelids. The close your eyes trick, you know? Which can look awesome or terrible. What ideas can you come up with? (Even if they're repeats of my ideas)

Good for you in being proactive! :). You have great ideas! I couldn't do sclera lenses either nor am I great with this type of make up art. I see toothless with large vibrant eyes...how about something similar to this:

Just a thought :)

Those are certainly a possibility. Something similar crossed my mind. I wonder if I could get eyes that move/blink. I know they can be made but I'm not sure how.

Anyone else have input?

I'm still going to make this happen 2015 so still looking for input.

Honestly, I think the cats-eye glasses are a really cute idea. I haven't seen that done in a Toothless cosplay, and it's both cool-looking and funny. My vote goes to the glasses. ;)

There are plenty of places where you can get contacts that you are describing for a good price, and with prescription if you need.

I'm trying to avoid contacts if possible.

I'm sure you can find glasses like that that are holographic so that they seem to move when you turn your head. Try looking at like costume stores (online too!) and there's always Amazon! I hope you find what you're looking for!

What about using makeup to make your eyes look larger? Like putting on black lines to expand the size of your eyes down, and making it kind of theatrical in delivery?

Ooooo! Look what I just found! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m43-4ctJMg0 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m43-4ctJMg0)
I could turn them into sunglasses!
Worse case, if they don't look right, they'll be cheap to make.
