Title: Pokemon 2014
Post by: GregAtlas on November 26, 2013, 12:49:45 pm
I was curious on what rule sets have been practiced in past years. I just got Pokemon X and a 3DS XL  with some birthday money and would kind of like to participate in the next Kumoricon pokemon tourney. I don't want to build a team based on the official rules for sanctioned events and then find out we're expected to play by smogon rules and vice versa.

Hopefully I won't forget my head piece to my darkrai cosplay this time. :P

I'm also wondering too, I'm happy with an open tournament, or just open play.

My biggest hope is that we don't have to deal with the same organizers as last year, I don't know what they were on but they need to get off it and mellow out.

I am 95% sure it's been the official VGC rules.

I never bothered with pokemon in past years, but I recently got into it. Considering I don't have a 3DS nor the patience and tenacity to EV train my own team in the actual game, I've just been using smogon's computer simulator (pokemon showdown). I don't suppose they'll use that for any tournaments/competitions?

I doubt it since that would require computers, which are usually over populated as it is and in a completely different area than where they normally hold the pokemon tourneys, plus this generation it is very easy to EV train and also pretty easy to IV breed.
