Hey Everyone!
So, you might have seen us promoting at Kumoricon, or maybe you haven't even heard of us. So what is Newcon? Newcon is an all pop culture convention celebrating the coming New Years, in the best way we know how with fellow fans!
Newcon is hosted the 27th to 29th of December, having gone to three days after our successful first year. Our website is under construction but most info is there at Newcopdx.com, we also have a lot of info on facebook.com/newconpdx.
Anyways~
This year we are having live bands, electronic dances, a ball room dance. We also have Conventional Improv, known for things like Cards against Con and Whose Line! We have a cosplay contest, an AMV show, Karaoke, casual and competitive console gaming. Not to mention a Lolita fashion show and a Steam Punk fashion show. We also have a wide variety of panels for anime, comics, games, and more. We are bringing in more content and guests every day.
So yeah, if you want to come celebrate a wonderful 2013 with a lot of people please check it out~

I saw this, however I'm not so sure...the website didn't say it was gonna show very much at this con...I mean I might go...We shall see...Can anyone enlighten me as to what kinda stuff will be at this con?

Our website is under construction and should show more information soon. To answer your question though, we do have a lot of things planned.
We are still currently locking in guests, so there will be more announcements to come, but right now we have the following.
Formal Ball
2 Electronic Dances
Lolita Fashion Show
Concert featuring two local bands
Cosplay Contest
Steam Punk Fashion Show
Crunchy Roll Anime Viewing
Karaoke Night
Whose Line and other improv games and game shows.
Console Freeplay and Fighting Tournaments
A workshop room with a wide variety of craft topics
A lot of panels run by staff and by attendees
Artist Alley with local artists and Vendors
Like I said we are also working on securing more talent and there will be more announcements in the next few weeks.
What we have is a small but growing convention that, like last year, will have a lot of content and a lot of stuff to involve and engage attendees.

I couldn't make it last year, but my friends said it was a heap of fun. Sounds like it will be awesome this year!

Any chance of a "Where Fanfiction Goes to Die" panel? :P

If the person(s) who run that panel submit it to Newcon, there would be a great probability we'd approve that panel (as in we for sure would).

My friend suggested it to me, so I may go, depending on how much birthday money I get, and if I get any babysitting gigs sometime soon. If I have my Hawkeye cosplay done by then, I may roll with that, otherwise I'd have fun as Jubilee.
I love that it sounds like a convention not just directed at anime/manga like Kumori is, but all types of nerd culture. I should fit right in.

I MAY try and come for one day just to test the waters. And it would be nice for Kumoricon to have a little sister here in the city of Roses.
