Since LOL is a team based game, I was wondering how teams are chosen or if we need to formulate our own teams beforehand?
Also, since this is my first time participating in a tournament, I was wondering if there was somewhere I would need to go to register beforehand or not?
Any info on this topic would be great since I'm really looking forward to this tournament.

As was last year, teams were formed on the spot, mash ups and pre-planned teams as well i believe.
if you come up with a group of 5 you will be a team.

If I remember correctly, the guy who was running the tourney said that next year we'll be required to have teams together before hand and probably signed up before the convention. We might have official Riot support this time, too. If it's going to be an actual tournament, then solo queue type setup of a bunch of people doesn't really work.
We will see how it really goes when convention time gets closer.

Tourneys are usually draft I think

I would assume so. That is how it was done last year and all the official tourneys I have ever seen have always been draft.
