Title: Pre-Con Festivities?
Post by: Tsukinya on August 27, 2013, 11:05:10 am
Am I just missing it entirely, or are there honestly no pre-Con events this year for Friday night (Day 0)?  Kind bummed... :\

Just looked, it doe say "lan/consol gaming is ready" if prereg'ed
but yeah I know some years there has been karaoke, or the party at the pop shop, but that place closed.
I have been staff forever but went back to being an attendee this year and because I am not staffing friday we decided to make our hotel reservations starting saturday.  Looks like I made the right choice...

Day 0 is a good day to go because it gives you the opportunity to check out all the rooms where the events and activities will be; so when the weekened starts up, you'll know where everything is and save time looking for the correct room.

Also, by going to the con early on Day 0, you'll get to attend the early activities the next day as opposed to missing out on them because you arrived sometime in the afternoon on Day 1.

We live in Portland, so we usually come up Saturday morning (in time for Opening Ceremonies) and save on the hotel stay Friday night.  I know in the past there have been dances, a party at Ground Kontrol, a Slants (I think) concert, etc.  One year, they did the Trigun Badlands Rumble premiere.  That was cool.  But this year, I don't see anything planned for Day 0  :'(

I also agree Day 0 is a good day to get aquainted with your surroundings. I knnow I plan on doing just that.
