Thet better not screw this up.

With all negatives aside, I am psyched!

I dunno, I read the article a couple years ago but we've heard nothing about a movie lately. But with the definite fourth game and the popularity of the manga, I guess it is just a matter of time.
-
Hmm.. It maybe a fun movie. But you never know with these sort of ventures.
I never knew there was a manga though. Learn something new everyday I guess.

At least Dante's not a woman now, like with the Silent Hill movie....

The fact that the article you mentioned is over two years old, and we STILL have heard nothing leads me to either believe that:
1. The project got cancelled.
2. The project is taking forever due to many circumstances.
3. They are just taking their time to make it work right.
Either way, I am more looking forward to X-men 3, aswell as the recently announced Prince of Tennis movie.

Damn dates!
...but..
ooooo Prince of Tennis movie :)

It's one of those Hollywood cottage industries, to sell and pick up film rights. They don't ever guarantee that the movie will get made, just that the creators get a check in exchange for agreeing that no one but the studio that signed the deal can make the movie. Since Dustin pointed it out, if there's been no sign of momentum after two years, it's probably dead, I hate to say. Unless the video games succeed in making the franchise more popular, like Resident Evil or Doom, or it can attract some big name by itself (which probably requires the former at this point,) I don't see it getting done.
I've never played it - is Devil May Cry a pretty popular game? What does its sales numbers compare to?

Not sure about it's sales figures, but it's an action game with a gothic-monster theme. Dante is the son of a great hero who has perished. He owns a freelance shop where he takes care of any demons/beasts that anyone asks him to handle. You go on a quest to figure out what exactly caused your mother's death after a woman comes in telling him some information concerning it. That's the first game.
The second game, to me a disappointment, is a giant filler for lack of better term. The story has little to nothing to do with Dante, however the action is still as fun as it was in the first one and you also get to play as a different character: a bird-woman whose name escapes me.
The third game is a prequel to the first, revolving around Dante, his brother and their history that leads up to the first game. I haven't played this one but I hear it's incredibly difficult. I can only assume the action in this is as badass as I've heard it is.
The series is great fun, with flip tricks, guns, swords, transformations and acrobatics up the wazoo.
