Title: 33 years later...
Post by: Washougal_Otaku on May 20, 2013, 02:14:22 pm
On this date in 1980, Mt. St. Helens blew its top.  In memory of this event, I thought it'd be kinda fun to enter something interesting/fun/etc. about the volcano, or perhaps a fond memory relating to it.

I remember in middle school being told about a Native American legend about St. Helens that included Hood and Adams.  I don't remember all of the details, but it was something like this:
Two males were fighting over a beautiful maiden.  Since the fighting kept going, and the maiden wouldn't end it by choosing someone, the gods punished the three by turning them into mountains.  The maiden ended up being Mt. St. Helens.  The two young men kept fighting as mountains by throwing rocks at each other; one such "weapon" is called Beacon Rock today.
