Title: Beaverton Uwajimaya Summer Festival 2013 July 20th!
Post by: Manganix78 on May 11, 2013, 08:11:43 pm
hello, hello there!

While I was browsing through this months Yuusuke Shimbun newspaper, I came across this ad that was about
a Japanese summer festival taking place at the Beaverton Uwajimaya on Saturday, July 20th!

There will be live Japanese music, kids games, food, family fun and other stuff.

I unfortunately don't what time it'll start and end, but I'll evenually keep those of you who are interested updated.

Do you know where (as in which Uwajimaya stores will have it) it will be held?

I might be able to go, as long as my parents aren't planning our next rock-hounding trip around this time!   :P
I'll also try to get one of my friends to go as well!

*don't know

Seriously, though, this could be a blast.  Unfortunately, the only way I'd be able to go would be if I were to request that day off... so, maybe.

I really miss these events. Due to my work schedule I haven't been able to go to any for the past 3 years, and I definitely miss it. You guys will have to let me live vicariously through you, heh.

Could someone give a summary of what happens at this sort of shindig? I've never been to one... People sound quite into it though...

There are food stands (taiyaki, drinks, etc.) as well as various vendors selling Asian-culture related things. There are also events going on throughout the day, kendo performances, drumming, music, etc.

Just fyi Uwajimaya has a web site with store locations and events and such, tho it only recently added the info for this event.
They used to have a ton of festivals in the spring and summer, but not so much the last 2-3 years.
