Title: Voice guests
Post by: Michael_Hopcroft on May 23, 2004, 08:56:37 pm
Finding voice actors guests we can afford to bring to portland might be a bit of a strain. Myabe if you ask the stuidos to sponsor guests' expencses it will get you more possibilities?

I have a few ideas for people I'dlike to see at future Kumoricons:

1.Crispin Freeman. Especially if Veronica Taylor is also coming. I once utterly, totally shocked the clerk at a local game crazy when i told her the actress who did the voice of Amelia (Slayers) also did the voice of Ash Ketchum (Pokemon) I hope she gets good royalties for all those Pokemon rerunsa.... Crispin would be way-cool; he's played so many cool characters from Zelgadis to Arucard.
2. Wheoever does the English, Southern-litled  voice of Osaka-chan in Azumanga Daioh. Not only is she extremely funny, but she makes it sound complketely natrual and effortless. Problem is she does most of her work for ADV Films which is in textas, but if ADV can pay part of the bill it's entirely possible.
3. there was a sotry in the paper a while back about the actress who played lLady jaye in GI joe continuing to work out a st\udio in Portland. I don't knwo fi she's done any anime work, but she knows the VA craft like the back of her hand and would be a great person to tell people what it's really like behind the  mike.

Finally, I have longed for a convention (maybe not this one, at leats not yet) that celebrates anuimation whatever its origins. Wouldn;t it be cool to have Ron Perlman or Kevin Conroy over here to talk voice acting? (For those who don;t keep up with Ameritoons at all, Perlans in the teen Tttans' blolod-chilling enemsis Slade, and Kevin Conroy is the qunitessnetial Batman.)

While we appriciate recommendations for Guests and such, we do have a basic line up decided on and being worked on as we speak.  We will certainly take your recommendations and keep them in mind for next year when we have some opennings for other guests, as it stands, we're basically maxing out our available resources, but getting, what I feel, are some cool guests.

No, Fred Gallagher is going to be busy during our convention, mainly with the new store he and his wife are starting up.  There's also the issue that our budget is still pretty small, and flying Fred out from Michigan is pretty expensive (~$550 per person last I checked)

Jamieson Price! He's still rather low-profile, new to the biz but making quite a splash, and could probably be got easily.

Although I should say, from my experience with him, he's somewhat of an airhead. But a *talented* airhead.

(a while back, I had a site about a character he had voiced, and got ahold of his e-mail address*. After exchanging a few letters, I asked if I could have a picture of him for my site. He said "Sure! But it'll have to be after the weekend." ...three months later I realized he wasn't about to do so, even after I reminded him)

*no I'm not giving it out, but I can tell you how I found it. If that's allowed.

I'm not sure how to say this, but thank you for all your recommendations... but again, we're not really looking for anyone... we've pretty much settled on our guests, we just need to finalize with them.

Again, thank you for your recommendations, we will keep them in mind if either a guest falls through, or for next year.

Get that guy who did the voice for Starscream in the original Transformers show! He rocked!
If he's not available try getting the Cobra Commander guy from GI Joe!

I know Staze I know.
You don't need any more suggestions.
I was kind of hoping that somebody would pick up on the fact that not only are the voices I mentioned done by the same guy, but he DIED last year!

Oh well, it's not like I know that much voice actor trivia. I can't even remember the guy's name.

Too bad it's so damn impossible to get Japanese Seiyuu to cons over here T_T  I'd kill to see some of them!!!  I don't watch dubs some none of these people ring a bell at all for me . . .

Whoever did the voice from James Sunderland or Henry Townshend, oh Walter Sullivan from Silent Hill . .. they are worthy of listening to.

So is Joe Romersa *dies*
