Greetings everyone!!!
This year, I'm starting a new tradition. Over the Kumoricon weekend, there will be two picnics that happen, so that people can get together, make friends, and get eachother pumped up for what's to come.
Day 0: We'll have the first picnic at Esther Short Park, which is that park next to the Hilton. It's planned for an hour before we can line up for early check-in that way we can all go from the picnic to line together and be line buddies. Having this picnic before con even starts will give people a chance to make new friends to hand out with over the weekend and afterwards; it will also give newbies people to turn to to ask questions about con and make them less nervous about their first convention; and, it will give people familiar faces to turn to during events, or if they have problems that they would rather share with people they knew, or to go with them to report something to staff if they needed to (because con staff is SOOO scary ::) lol).
Start Time: Noon. Early sign-in starts at 1pm, so this is a good hour before that, and we can all head over together, or in groups, to get through the line when the time comes.
Day 3: The second picnic will be in Esther Short Park as well, probably around noon. Doing it on the last day lets us all come back together and share our favorite memories from con, find out what things we my have missed, and reinforce the new bonds of friendship we have made. The time might change with this one, depending on the schedule; I know some people like to go to Closing Ceremonies, and a lot of people have to travel back home, so it will all be about finding the balance with those things.
Start Time: 1:30pm. This is right after Cosplay Chess, and there aren't any MAJOR events that interfere (not to say that there aren't other events it messes with that look like they might be cool, because there always is).
Location: Esther Short Park, in the back, near the Pavilion.
What to bring: To make everything easier, everybody should bring their own lunch. Feel free to bring things to share with others if you would like to do so. I want to avoid a situation where someone plans on being there, and then something comes up and they can't, and then we've lost whatever they were supposed to bring with them. So, plan to pack your own lunch.

I'll be updating the first two posts as information changes and becomes clearer... It needs a cool name.
So far, for names we have:
SUPERAWESOMEFRIENDSHIPPICNIC, which I'm pretty sure is supposed to be 'Super Awesome Friendship Picnic', but I originally read as 'Super Awesome Friends Hip Picnic'.

Sounds absolutely great! Unfortunately, I'm unsure if I'll be going to Day 0, and it's unlikely I will stay on Day 3, but if I'm able to go to either, I will definately be going c:

Honestly, I haven't been up to the park since last year. I think tomorrow I'm going to head up that way and take a look around to see what will work the best. I will update information when I get back.

So, the other day I went down to the park around the same time that we would be there for the picnic, and it looks like the back corner, near the pavilion would be the most shaded and comfortable place.

^ That is a great choice, honestly. I've had a couple of picnic-type gatherings there, as well as many events at the pavilion itself.

That name almost gave me a seizure and had me expecting Black Star to jump out of somewhere... I love it.
It took me a minute to figure it out, though, because I have issues with reading no spaces... I saw "Friends Hip" instead of "Friendship" and it took me reading the other posts before I saw it the other way. lmao

Well it would be easier if there was an exact time given but I'll probably try to show up. If you see a Sebastian wandering around on Day Zero it is probably me. :3 You can feel free to drag me over there if you see me. I'll be trying to get to con early on day zero anyway.
The only thing that would keep me from being able to join you guys is if I end up having staff things to do during that time.
Also did you want people to bring food? And if so what sort of thing do you have in mind.

Everyone should bring their own food. If people want to bring things to share, then I say go for it, you I would not suggest 'counting' on their being shared food available. I thought it would be easier this way because then we don't have to worry about someone having something come up and then missing an important food. And we also don't have to worry about how many people will be there and having enough of everything for everybody.
Personally, I think I'm going to get a few things of chips to bring.

Ah well I was only asking because I was planning to maybe bring some cookies or brownies or something for everyone. I wanted to make sure this would not be a problem. :3

Absolutely. It would be no problem at all... that makes me think; maybe I should do some baking... Since I'm off all of next week, and most of the following week, maybe I'll make a bunch of sweet zucchini bread to bring, and freeze it. That stuff is SOOO good, we always go through two loafs within a day or two.

Oh my goodness, zucchini bread...In my garden the Zucchini is growing like crazy and my parent make me make so much bread
I'll probably bake some stuff as well, including more Zucchini bread so we don't run out

This year, our zucchinis are actually smaller than they have been the last couple years, but we still have a lot of big ones.

For times, how about a start time of 11:30am-Noon on Day 0 and 1:30pmish on Day 3???

That sounds like a blast! ;D Once you have a name you should make a sign so people can find you. I doesn't have to be fancy just big lettered. I will be there on day 0 but I don't know when I have to start working. (Reg. staff) I'll try and stop by if I can. ;)

. . . Well, don't I feel like a genius... I didn't even think about a sign, but that is an excellent idea. I'm going to buy some big paper or a sign board at work today.

Make sure to spread the word to con goers who are, dare I say it, not on the forums... If you see people before the first picnic, point them to the park, and during con, let people you meet know that there is another picnic on the last day at 1:30. We'll make it a super special awesome party.

i'll see about making it to the day 0 picnic, but since i'm getting a ride from someone else and picking someone else up along the way in seattle, me making it could go either way. i know i'll be able to try and make it to the day 3 picnic[after i do some shopping in the dealer's room and artist's alley first]. i know for both times my lunch will be fairly plain. just some subway since there isn't any other "fast food" options in the area[that i'm already aware of]. i have an idea of my own for day 0 to keep the fun rolling after it's over, but i'll make a new topic for that since i don't want to step on anyone's toes in here.

If me and my mom check out of our hotel later on Day 3, I might be able to go to the picnic then. Just wanna let y'all know for an update =D

Because of how late hotel check in is, a bunch of us will probably continue the picnic even after we sign in for con... or we might just keep the picnic going longer so that the time we get through line is closer to the time we can check in.

Our area got taken over by normal people today, so my group is just going to be lazing about until closing ceremonies... Feel free to continue the picnic without us... Our even find us wandering... Today we have Ash, Misty, Hinata, Tenten and our photographer.
