There's probably been a thread about this before, but I felt a need to write something about it. I've got two favorite manga series which are now (presumably) no longer being published in English because Tokyo Pop went under: Maria Holic and Dragon Sister!.. anyone else in a similar situation with a series that Tokyo Pop published?
-
Actually, I am in the same situation with Maria-Holic, as well as Chibi Vampire. ...I think that's it...
-
Mobile Suit Gundam: École du Ciel. I liked that series, too...

Chibi vampire is finished at least
-
^ That's true; however, I can't seem to find issue #1, nor some of the specials that came later. I think there was at least one more novel, and at least one more special manga, that I never picked up. (I do have the one that you are in, though, Jaz).
-
why don't you order them online? You can get the first chibi vampire used on amazon for like 91 cents plus 3.99 shipping. XD probably on half.com too. Or if you live in the Portland area, powell's has them.
-
... *facepalms* I've never thought of that...
-
too bad, uwaji's had them on clearance a while back.
There are 2 special edt, and some novels which I never bothered with
-
*whimpers in the corner* Crud...

The good news is that for those series that were already completed, it's not TOO hard (yet) to find copies of the volumes (at least, that's what I've found).
And I've noticed a few other titles are SLOWLY being picked up- of course, it's the more popular ones. Alice in the Country of Hearts was picked up by Yen, and Right Stuf has partnered with the former Tokyopop to release a somewhat limited amount of the next volume of Hetalia, as well as reprint the first two volumes.
So hopefully other series will begin getting picked up as well. However, I noticed there were a few Tokyopop series that, even while they were around, just seemed to float off into neverland. Anyone else notice this? Like Immortal Rain. Loved that series to death, but Tokyopop just.....stopped XD

I don't remember the name of the company, but there was a manga series that I really loved that had the same problem. ...hang on, I'm gonna go look it up...
Infinity Studios. That's the culprit.

Hopefully someone will pick up Maria-Holic eventually.. seems like all the manga or anime I take a liking to is either discontinued, old or was published by Tokyo Pop, all resulting in them being unknown. Hooray obscurity!

Tactics. ADV started off with it, then Tokyopop bought the rights when ADV manga went under. There's no way another publisher is going to pick it up (obviously it's a cursed property). I also miss Vassalord..and Peacemaker Kurogane.
