Title: Pepakura Files for armor making
Post by: Drauska on April 19, 2012, 10:00:12 am
Has anyone here ever used Pepakura files for making scaled up armor from 3D renderings of cosplay characters?

I haven't used it yet, but after talking to some armor crafters out there (espcially in the WoW scene) I have decided to give it a try.  Once I do I'll post my opinions and progress shots here to see if it can assist anyone.

As soon as I finish this year's cosplay I will be buying the full version of the program and start out with small pieces.  ;D  I've seen pics of amazing cosplay using this method.  Like Mecha suits and armor.

Pepping can be difficult starting out, but once you get the hang of it it's fairly simple. I'm using it to make full Kamen Rider suits (or at least I will, when I get off my arse and get around to it).

There's more to it than just folding paper, though. Fiberglass, bondo, a metric f&@%ton of sanding, it can get pretty tedious pretty fast.

Hey Commander^^

I think I might be up for the challenge.  We shall see.   ;D  I'm hopping to use the method for my dream cosplay for 2013 if I can get some more fat off my butt.
