I'm surprised that no one has made this topic yet.
Photoshoot:
Day 1: 4pm. At the Gazibo.
The Dollars were originally created by Mikado Ryuugamine as a joke, but later he discovers that the organization grows far beyond his original plan. All of the original founders were frightened of it and deserted the project, except for Mikado. As the gang became more popular, people began using their name in order to commit crimes and do wrong. Despite this, Mikado suggested that members started doing deeds around the city, as a result these actions where displayed on television(news). Invitations into The Dollars ceased, as Mikado decided to stop, but the gang continued to grow relentlessly as a result of Izaya Orihara continuing to send out invitations. Rumors began to spread about the Dollars, profiling them as one of the most mysterious and potentially dangerous gangs in the city.

You've got a Shizuo Heiwajima right here! I have plans to assemble my cosplay before next year's con, and possibly even have it ready to test out at Sakuracon!
...Sure were a lot of Shizuos this year, though.

...I think I saw her in the 2nd opening? I haven't finished the series yet, and can only really watch it when it's on Adult Swim on Sunday at 12:30am. Though it looks like she has ties to both Masaomi and Izaya? Could be interesting...

Explanation to the rescue! Basically, the group asks if they can take a picture with a cosplayer, but they're actually filming, and right around the time you'd normally take the picture, the people from the group start dancing! It totally surprises the cosplayer!

I was planning to cosplay Celty at kcon 2013, but not 2012, sadly.

If anyone cosplays as Celty, would it be appropriate for them to communicate only by using a cell phone?

That's actually something my friends and I have been talking about. Because I talk a lot, that'd be sooo tough for me to do, and since I don't have a cell phone, it's even more difficult haha. When I do go as Celty in 2013, I'm going to bring a notepad, though. : )
So, I suppose if they are really dedicated, then yes it would be appropriate. It's up to the cosplayer I suppose.

Well I still have my Izaya cosplay from last year and I ordered a wig (used my hair last time) for my Luffy cosplay which is exactly Izaya's hair, so I could always pull him off. That's just less wigs I have to buy. Though I'd probably only do it if I could get a Shizuo.

My friend is doing Shizuo, and wants me to be Anri. The costume is $76.

Of course, especially if we have a meet-up or something along those lines. My boyfriend is pretty upset that I only ever cosplay boy characters.
Anyways, if all goes well I'm planning to maybe go as Izaya, oh and I see SOMEONE is going as the Organization as well.

I'm really liking the way this chatroom can be utilized! If anyone from this forum ever wants to chat there, just make a room called "Kcon," or something like that. I'll be looking for people to talk to during work, after all.
Anyway, to keep this post related to the actual topic: who do you think I could commission a street sign from? I doubt I'll have the time (or the skill) to make one myself.

Yeah, there's an OVA. It's pretty damn fantastic.
That would be pretty fantastic if you could get a Saika blade, and the chat room idea is pretty great, though I don't use the same username.

So I've thought a bit and I think if I cosplay Durarara next year I may be Mikado OR Izaya, depends on what I'm feeling.

Yeah, I don't know which I'll do, but my wig works for both and I know there is always a lack of Mikados so... ^^;;;

I'm probably not gonna be Shinra again this year. Maybe in a few years when the series dies and everyone isn't cosplaying the same 4 characters.......

Ah yeah, that's probably the reason why I find Mikado for appealing then Izaya. Last convention when I cosplayed him the amounts were ridiculous. The only Mikado I saw was the one I had in my DRRR group.

*sigh* I hope there are fewer Shizuo cosplayers this year. I thought Durarara would be somewhat under-represented this year (2011), but I was so surprised to see all of my favorite characters! Anyway, I don't plan on switching off of Shizuo, not until I have a good feel for him. Hmm, maybe I'll move on to Shinra, as long as I can get my girlfriend to be my Celty... <3 She sure does loooooove Celty! (But then again, who wouldn't?)

So, sorry for the double post, but edits go unnoticed unless the thread is being posted in a lot. Now, onto why I'm doing this:
It looks like my girlfriend and I are going to attempt a couple cosplay of Shinra and Celty! We made the decision earlier today, and we're both pretty excited about it! She's going to try to have her Celty done in time for Kumoricon, and I'll try to have Shinra ready by then, too. I know that my Shizuo needs to be ready by Sakuracon, so by the time Kumoricon comes around, I'll make a point of having Luxord, Shizuo, and Shinra! If anyone has any helpful tips to offer me or my girlfriend for cosplaying Shizuo, Shinra, and Celty, they'd be greatly appreciated!

Ah that's great! I can't wait to see your cosplays (that includes Luxcord), I myself cosplayed Shinra and I'm guessing that you';ll be using a wig? Well I used a black wig myself, but I didn't like it as much at the cosplayers I saw using a dark brownish wig. As for Celty it's good as long as you find a good suit that wont get too terribly hot and you have a good helmet. I'm excited to see you two walking around. :D

I used a black wig for Shinra and if you need help styling just tell me! I'd sell you mine, but I'm trying to see if I can use it for Death the Kid...
Anywho, thrift stores would be a good place to search for helmets to modify and the lab coat. Good luck!

Ok, a little bit of bad news: I've decided not to cosplay Shizuo Heiwajima. The good news: I'm ready to cosplay as Shinra! All I need now is my wig, and I'm ready to go!
