Title: Fan Etiquette 2012
Post by: IrukaSensei on October 09, 2011, 11:58:54 am
So, talked with a few people, and it seems this panel could be very useful. There will be a normal version of this panel, and an 18 plus event. The normal panel, I highly suggest that any red or green badges attend. Especially if you haven't had much experience with conventions. Why? Because this panel is all about how to act appropriate at con, so people will actually like you.

I know some of the biggest complaints at con, are about how con attendees treat each other. That's what this panel will be about, I'll teach the right ways to act, and the wrong ways to act. Probably set up a few Games to show the examples. I'll also show ways to state your opinions, without shoving them down other peoples throats. The 18+ panel will cover things like Yaoi and Yuri and Hentai. Please wait for all questions on that, till the 18+ panel, the normal panel is all about helping the newbies of con, and some of the oldies, understand what may be the problem.

Part of my whole Etiquette line up, will also be my Glomp Etiquette panel. No we are not going a Glomp Circle, sorry to disappoint. But it's for Safety reasons, this panel will be discussed further, later. But it will be about teaching proper glomping protocols, so men don't end up in the hospital.

Discussion:
What would you like to see talked about at this panel?

Though that's a nice suggestion, that's not what I'm doing. It's quite different. Especially in the detailing I plan on going into.  THank you :3

LOL, thank you though. It did give me an idea. I'm gonna go around to like Hotels and places, and find out if I can get a bunch of Con emergency packets made up. With things like small deodorants, and toothpast and brushes, and soaps and stuff. XD

I think it would be a great idea. Especially after my experiance at cons and having those people who told me i wasnt allowed to cosplay cuz i was fat. I went home early that year and didnt go to con the next year.

The dangers of being/interacting/upsetting a fangirl/fanboy.
How to show respect for those who don't like what you do.

Those are exactly the things I'm going to be working on. Which is definitely interesting, considering people may get offended by how I teach. Mostly cause I'm nice, until someone proves they deserve otherwise. The Normal panel is going to be something I highly suggest to New Con goers, the 18+ version will be for people that have been around a little, but are over 18 and need help with that kind of stuff. Like the Yaoi fans that literally enrage others by not listening to logic, and ripping apart cannon couples for their own enjoyment.

You should get a hold of Big Chris and see if he'd be interested in helping. He's done a panel with a friend at a couple cons about the "Otaku Funk"; which would tie in really well with the panel you're wanting to do. Especially for newbies who don't know the MAJOR importance of showering everyday. X.x

I'll be working on the Glomp Etiquette panel later. I want to find a way to advertise the panel a bit more. Once it's official - so that we can get all the con newbies to it. That way it's freshly ingrained in their being, BEFORE they start getting out into Con Majorly.

Words cannot express my sheer support for having this panel happen.

It needs to be done.

You're an angel.

It'd be a great way to start things off, or something...

Ohhh Thank you Sweeney! I have never felt more loved then I do now. Does this mean you'll attend just to listen? *grins brightly* I've only had you at one of my panels before.

As for you Otaku, though I appreciate the video. I plan on doing something that may take a bit more effect. I need to find a way to advertise this, and make sure that new con goers actually attend. >.< Perhaps it'll cut down on some of the issueso f new congoers.

If I end up going this year, you bet. If you need me to I can even help speak based on experiences my group and I have had. Being a group of Depp characters, we see a lot. Unfortunately. :C

I'd actually love that! It'd be very helpful. In the long run, plus isn't your Sweeney Cosplay a little delicate? I could use you for my Glomp panel as well. XD

If it would be helpful then I can definitely help you out. C: My costume doesn't have delicate parts that could break, but it's delicate in the fact that it can still rip or get something on it. (Like any costume.) I certainly don't want people glomping me in it, because I do try to preserve it and the craftsmanship as best I can. Hope that helps answer your question!

Now Jack and Hatter's costume do have actual delicate parts to them. You could probably use them as examples too.

You wouldn't be getting glomped, actually what would be happening is you would be used as examples of cosplayers that HAVE to absolutely be asked first to be glomped. Well all of them HAVE to be asked. But due to the nature of the cosplays, you have to be glomped in a different manner.

I could really use it. Also you should send me a PM for my number, I need to get in touch with you about something else.

I'd like to see if you'd stretch into the topic of height and badge color in terms of manners. And that just because they have the same color badge as you, or are the same height, you shouldn't assume they will want the same conversations as you. Or want to be glomped.
As an 18+ attendee to all cons I've attended, I'm always walking around feeling like I should have a "Ask to glomp" sign since I'm 5' tall ><

I am interested to go to this panel though :)

Mannerisms tied into a 18+ congoers situation, will be discussed in that panel. But other then that, I have a lot I intend to go through. Seriously, looking for about an hour long panel for all three. So three hours of paneling in total. Plus my handfasting on the 8th.
