Title: Cosplay commission?
Post by: Arivey on September 29, 2011, 10:03:14 am
I suck at sewing and my sewing machine is busted, so I'm not seeing a lot of hope on making mine on my own. There's also nowhere on the web to buy it (I've been looking). I was wondering if there was anyone who might take commissions. I can buy the materials and pay for labor, I'm just hopeless with doing the actual work.
I'm planning to cosplay Soren from Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn

If it was just a matter of your sewing machine was busted and you could sew I would suggest http://www.youcansew.org/ (http://www.youcansew.org/) They have open drop in and use their machines most Friday nights.  If you live in the Portland area.

Thanks for the info. I might end up having to do that, but it's more of a last resort since my sewing skills reall are that tragic.

They have seamstresses there that can help you too.

Could you post a photo or a link to a photo of the character/outfit you're wanting to commission/

Once again, thanks. If things don't pan out the way I'm hoping they might that is a good second choice. Might go there even if I can commission someone so I can do my own in the future.

Sure thing I can put a link to a pic

The robe is the only thing I need, but it looks a bit difficult to me.

How much money were you willing to pay for the jacket?
There's some price ranges that people aren't willing to pay based on the fact that they just don't have the money for it and don't understand how much work goes into these kinds of things.

My friend and I make all of our cosplays, and if you have no other option we could probably make it for you (assuming we have the time) but making cosplays yourself is really rewarding so I encourage you to try it yourself first :3

Soren's Radiant Dawn outfit isn't too bad...you can always make the blue robe-dealio with a dress pattern with long flowing sleeves like his and then add the slits in the front. And to put the design on you could sew it, otherwise they make this stuff that you can put on the back of the fabric to make it iron on and stay, or just use fabric glue. I've had lots of luck using all of those methods :)

Let me know if you'd like any more suggestions :3
Good luck with your cosplay~
