This thread is for tracking, posting, and replying to nominations for member-elected board positions. This first post will be updated as the status changes. This post will only list candidates who have either accepted or deferred. (A candidate who declines, or has not responded yet even to say "defer", is not listed.) Candidates nominated at the Rant and Rave meeting will be listed in the second post, for historical purposes. People may post in this thread to nominate candidates, and candidates may respond to a nomination. For discussion or questions to candidates, please use the designated Q&A threads (http://www.kumoricon.org/forums/index.php?board=52.0) for each position.
The elections will be held at the Annual Meeting of the Altonimbus Membership on Saturday, October 8. (details (http://www.kumoricon.org/forums/index.php?topic=16130.0)) Nominations were closed at Wednesday, October 5, at 11:59pm. Ballots will be printed containing the candidates who have accepted (not including those who were still in defer status). After the deadline, newly-accepting candidates can still be elected by write-in.
Nominees may change their status (accept, defer, decline) at will. (You can re-accept after declining, for example.) (Prior to the deadline.)
Candidates are listed first by those who have accepted, then alphabetically by last name.

Please consider me as "declined" for Publicity as well, and I would like to give my support for Ally Fields as Director of Publicity for the 2012 convention year.
-
I believe my time has not yet come. I thank you for thinking of me during the nomination process and wish to be considered again in the future.
As stated above, I Decline for 2012 Board as Director of Operations.

Jeff, your attention to detail is much appreciated.
However, as an M.S.W. (I have a Masters in Social Work), having worked on crisis lines, and having lost dear ones to suicide, may they rest in peace, may I please respectfully request you remove that reference to an engaged "mock" attempt. It's not necessary for the official recording, and it could hurt the feelings of those whose lives are directly affected by bona fide and even successful suicide attempts.
Thanks and love.
Rem.

Thank you for the perspective, but respectfully I'm going to leave it as-is. Primarily because it was how I chose to report it, and I feel that redacting it now after-the-fact is worse than any potential offense that may be caused by the comment; and also because it was reporting on something that happened in the room in front of everyone. I would consider amending my report if evidence was presented that I didn't present it accurately.
The reason I chose, in the first place, to include those two comments as part of the list of nominations (and not any other goings-on) was because it was clear to those in the room that both that particular nominee, and perhaps some of the nominators of that nominee, were perhaps partially joking and that both sides understood it. (Further evidence: When he said dramatically said "Thank you!" the moment that suggestions for Treasurer ended without his name being mentioned, which turned out to be the only one of the 4 board-elected positions for which he was not suggested.) Of course, the nominations will be included nevertheless and treated seriously on equal footing with any others, and only the official answers of "accept", "defer", or "decline" (as indicated) will be taken as determinative, and I make no assumption that he isn't seriously interested in one or more positions.

* deep breath *
Ok

Speaking of that nominee, I am going to accept my nomination for Chair.

I have revised my decision a bit, and updated the wording, in consultation with a couple of others who remember more details, since the updated wording satisfies my reasons for having written it the way I originally did.

I think Beau does a spectacular job, and hope he continues as Chair - but I also think anyone who stands out as a candidate worthy of the position should be formally recognized.
I hereby nominate Brandon DeVore for Chair.

Thank you for your confidence David, but at this time I will be Deferring my nomination for Convention Chair.
-
I would like to officially request that my name be taken off of the Director of Relations race. To tell the truth, the only reason I put my name out there was so that there would be more than one person running. Since this isn't a keen reason to run, and there's another person running, I see no reason to have my name up there.
-
I will be Declining my nomination for convention chair.
-
I have received a nomination from somebody who wishes to remain anonymous, for Amber Berebitsky for Director of Programming. If she accepts or defers, she will be added to the list of nominees.
-
The nominations deadline is Wednesday, October 5, at 11:59pm. At that time, ballots will be printed containing only candidates who have accepted their nominations. Candidates in "defer" status, or who have not responded to a nomination, will not be included on the ballots. After this deadline, newly-accepting candidates can still be elected by write-in.

Could you list Amber's forum name or the job she held this year? It might help people who are considering amongst the candidates, to recognize who she is.
BTW, I personally like the idea of there being anonymous ways to nominate candidates, as long as those nominations are made in good faith.

On general policy grounds and privacy reasons, I am going to wait for her to participate in one of the elections threads before revealing any forum name, as that might be non-public information.
The current staff list is available in the staff area for logged-on staff, as well as lists going back to 2009:
http://www.kumoricon.org/staff-list
Additionally, lists going back further are available in the convention book archives:

Ok, I get that. I had looked over your previous post very quickly last time, saw the first name, thought of a different person from staff at the time, just reread your post, got it now.

I accept the nomination for board. The name to put down is Amber Berebitsky.

The nominator contacted me and stated that they mistakenly nominated Amber for Programming and meant to nominate for Relations. Therefore, I will present the nomination of Amber Berebitsky for Director of Relations. It will be listed in the nominations list once she responds to accept or defer it, and she can, if she wishes, change her nomination status for Director of Proframming which she previously accepted.
-
I find that incredibly, well, convenient, given my post earlier this morning regarding that in the Q&A for Prog Director.
I was brought up to speed by the anonymous nominator.
-
Yes, I would like to change my nomination acceptance. I withdraw from Programming and accept for Relations.
-
I have updated the nominations post to reflect the close of nominations. Ballots will be printed with the listed names. Late nominations or acceptances who miss the ballot can still be elected by write-in.
-
Ok, thanks for the updates, Jeff.
So if I am understanding the list correctly, a couple people who had been in deferring status (Wes & Andrew) removed their names? Just want to be sure I
am reading it correctly.
-
Wes actually declined earlier, but anyone who was still in deferred status was removed once the deadline passed.
(It is possible for people to write in candidates, but there has to be a deadline so the ballots can be printed.)
-

Correct, I removed the defers from the list when the deadline passed. All individuals in defer status or who had not responded were also contacted a few days earlier as a reminder.
-
Ok, thanks.
-
Amber has withdrawn her nomination in the Relations Q&A thread, so the list has been updated to reflect that. Although the deadline has passed to accept or make a nomination to appear on the printed ballot, an existing nominee may withdraw of course.
