Okay, but a word of warning, it will be quite a while until I know if I'll be doing her. I don't have much money right now, so it'll be several months until I'm anywhere near done with Dolorosa, and thus able to judge if I have time/money for Snowman. So if you really want to do Snowman you should just go ahead, and worst-case-scenario we have two (and that is not at all a bad scenario).

Guys, I've decided that since I had all my crossplays planned for Sakuracon and none for Kumoricon, that I'm switching my Eridan over to Sakuracon and for Kumoricon I will crossplaying as Vriska, complete with dicet. Just thought I should mention that.I think you should just go ahead and be Jane. It doesnt matter what your voice sounds like C:
As well, I'm trying to figure out my third costume for Sakuracon and I'm considering Jake or Jane. (I would just be making the outfit since the wig I have works for both.) I'm leaning more towards Jane since that would make an even set of crossplays and straightplays, but I worry I wouldn't be able to do a voice that fits her since I get the impression that most people don't really see her as having an altoish (like Vriska) or boyish (like Rainbow Dash) voice. Then again, doing Jake would mean one cross and two straights at both cons which is also even. I guess I just like Jane better since my interests (detectives, etc.) are far closer to hers than Jakes. Not to mention I'd feel odd carrying guns being that I'm a pacifist and that I'd have no place to store said guns since my college has an anti-gun-imitation policy. It's tricky...

I'm not sure if i'll be able to cosplay as Tavros this year :\ It's just that i feel the only way that i'll be able to do him justice is if i got a wheelchair, which would be very difficult for me to both find at a very cheap price, and move around in (Kumoricon for me is constently running around and doing things, and if i'm not used to moving around in a wheelchair, that could be very hard for me. And besides, i wouldn't even be able to use the wheelchair after Kumoricon, so that would feel like kind of a waste for me ^^; )
So yeah, i'll still probably be hanging out with everyone and i'll definitely go to the photoshoot to take pictures, but i won't be cosplaying Homestuck this year.

Hey, I have to say I had no idea what any of the homestuck cosplays were at kumoricon last year, and up until I got on the recommendation from a cool person I met at a meet up two weeks ago I hadn't even known what it was. I've just know gotten to the end (so far) and now I know that I have to cosplay as dave next Convention. I'm thinking that I'll just get several dave cosplays and just be a time traveling Dave. I already almost have a complete dave cosplay from when he was in the Lohac exchange(swindling all those crocs out of there hard earned boonbucks). I definatly want to get his red suit and possibly his god tier as while. I need a little help finding a wig though. Anybody know where I can find one?

Hello all! I stumbled into the cosplay section to see if anyone was going to be doing any Homestuck costumes as I recently got back into reading the comics AND WOW, needless to say I was surprised. Jegus.troll horns are best made with model magic and a headband and for the skin there is this body creme called "Ben Nye" (well, thats the brand) you can get in either online or there is a store down town portland. There is also some people who use dyed nigh-longs for their arms.
I am fairly certain I will be making a Aradia costume, as I am too lazy to get more than one wig this year and with a little bit of basic curling my hair will be good to go.
Mostly I was wondering how other Trolls were making their horns, and if other Trolls were worrying about their skin color as part of their costume. I am pale as the unfiltered moonlight, and it would be easier for me NOT to deal with that unless someone has a quick and easy trick that won't rub off on any unsuspecting bystanders that might get my face run into them. ...or something. That sounded really weird and kind of creepy.

Hi! This is going to be my first Kumoricon experience and my third convention altogether (first one was Anime Banzai, the second was Anime Salt Lake; I'm going to be moving to Washington in June (GOOD RIDDANCE, UTAH)), and I'm really excited :D I'll be attending this con as Slick. I'm 90% done with the cosplay, I just need the zentai suit, to make the face on the zentai suit, and the right shoes. The rest of it was found at home, so this is a fairly easy cosplay for me. Next time I'll have to try something more challenging. (I'm never doing a troll again, though, my Terezi cosplay was HORRID.)

Oh yeah, and my sister is either going to be Gamzee or Vriska. She's nervous about Gamzee, though, because explaining Gamzee to family is kind of strange. I really hope she goes with Gamzee, though.
Woops, haven't really been keeping up with this thread.
Auricle and I use Kryalon. It applies faster than Ben Nye, and it's water-based, so it's easy to wash off mistakes. Once you've powdered and sealed it, it just takes some scrubbing with soap and water to get it off. It does take some practice to make it look good, though. I was using grey Kryalon for the test I posted here. (http://www.kumoricon.org/forums/index.php?topic=15985.msg755418#msg755418) I can't remember what the color number is off the top of my head, but I can look it up if someone needs it.

For wigs, you should be able to Google around for a bunch of wig wearing tutorials, but here are the basics:
Since your hair is so long, you should pin curl it up.
Then put a wig cap on over it. Wig caps are essentially panty hose for wearing wigs. They keep stray hairs from slipping out from under your wig and becoming visible.
Use hair pins (that's a specific kind of pin, not just any ol' pin that goes in your hair) to keep the wig on your head. Bobby pins right in front of your years, and at the front or back will keep it from slipping around. Whether or not you put them on in the front or back depends on where your wig is heaviest. If you've got a big bun or ponytail in back that wants it to pull the wig backwards off your head, you'd put bobby pins at the front to keep it from sliding back.
Also, not wig related, but you should really wear makeup! Even the very basics, like foundation and eyeliner, will make you look much nicer in pictures. It'll keep your skin looking even, and if you start to sweat (Kumoricon is still a summer con, after all) it'll keep your face from getting shiny from grease. I guess eyeliner could be optional since you're being Dave, but if you ever want to take your glasses off, it's important that your eyes don't disappear in all the other big, heavy and bright stuff you've got on.

I'm 90% done with the cosplay, I just need the zentai suit, to make the face on the zentai suit, and the right shoes. The rest of it was found at home, so this is a fairly easy cosplay for me. Next time I'll have to try something more challenging. (I'm never doing a troll again, though, my Terezi cosplay was HORRID.)

on another note, should I get red contacts? I don't want to have shades on in every photo, though I'd just use the contacts during shoots and that's probably it. dunno where in Eugene I could find colored contacts, since I'd rather get some IRL and get some advice on wearing/having them first...
Pers: If you have an eye doctor, you could order contacts from them. It's illegal to buy contacts in the US/from US-based websites without a prescription anyway.

Pers: You should think pretty seriously about cost. If you really wanna get contacts the legal way in the US, you have to go pay to see the doctor twice, (once to figure out your prescription, once to get the contacts and learn to put them in) and then the contacts themselves.

Aside from that, I was reading through the Policies list at 2AM, because I clearly have more important things to do. Anyway, I noticed a few things that made me wonder:
First off I notice the section on masks and not wearing them in the hotel lobbies. I was wondering if that translates to face paint as well, probably doesn't but my paranoia has the best of me. Afterwards, I noticed the section on props and wondered how this affects juggling clubs. If anyone has any reassurance, please feel free too give me the chill cake on that one.~
