OK, we've got one week left until KC11 as of the time I am writing this, so let me get this outta the way: What is the weather gonna be like for the weekend of KumoriCon in the Vancouver, WA area? Just wanting to know so I can dress accordingly. Thanks.

I think 75 degrees would be perfect. I mean, it's just cool enough to where people won't get overheated in large costumes, and just warm enough to where people won't freeze in lighter costumes (and warm enough to swim in the pool~).

Me being the polar bear that I am, anything above 60 is too much. I'll deal with it (as if I had a choice), but the lower the better in my case.

According to Accuweather its gonna be in the 70's to 80's with clouds on the 5th and 6th but sunny on the weekend. Tho that forcast is a little far out so its subject to change

Weather.com's 10 day forecast right now says "Showers" for Friday (60% chance), then it looks like "sunny" from Saturday to Monday.
The average temp listed is about 75F...
I hope it is actually sunny :D

It makes me irritable. Add that to whenever I'm hungry, and I can be a major jerk. Unless I mentally psych myself for it, as a training step, heat = bad. (I wonder if it's my strong Scottish/Irish bloodline kicking in...).

I really hope it's going to be nice and cool. Cause walking back and forth from hotels in hot weather will be hectic. (And I'll be in a heavy, leather black cloak....) X.X

I am glad anything I plan on wearing during con is baggy and cotton and comfy.
Heat really can be dangerous for pregnancy. Think pregnant women already run the extra risk of being dehydrated and feeling warm from the bun in the oven, also suppose to avoid hot tubs and limit the length/temp of baths.

On the plus side, I had e-mailed the hilton a while ago just saying I was going to be really pregnant, and do they rent wheel chairs?
I never heard back so I called the front desk and they said they do have them on a first come first serve and can be checked out, I was thinking of having my mom borrow one from my grandma (would be pain in butt since in grantspass)
BUT I got a response back from the e-mail saying that they found one for me especially to use during my stay, no charge unless I break it (which I wont). Pretty sweet, goes to show, you need special accommodations from a hotel, just let them know and they will help you out.
I don't need it so much saying "I can't walk" cuz I can, more because I get tired and "I NEED a place to sit NOW" and to just not tire my self out so I can enjoy the con.

I AM EXACTLY THE SAME WAY. I swear that the Canadian blood in my veins makes me a little bit warmer than everyone else. well, at least more used to the cold. come on cool weather!

though oddly I never had to wait in line to get in the hall that year. Granted I was only there for sunday and monday.
This year I'm hoping for warm. Now that I dropped huge fluff monster dress of doom until undecided con, Im wearing nothing but light cosplays (flight attendant yoko, short dress peach, pinkie pie) so some waaaarm weather wont bother me one bit. And after this summer I think I can take anything bellow 120

The skimpy is cause that skirt is SHORT. I can't bend over in it at all without some underwear action. :/
But I'm wearing two sets of underwear so it's all good. One has the tail attached to it and the tail pulls down the top a bit so I wear a pair under that so my butt isn't showing if I do have to bend over.

And the skirt doesn't actually look terribly short in that picture (not compared to certain other cosplays I have heard of lately, lol), but of course if security is in any way compromised, it's wise to take precautions. Sounds like you've got a pretty forward-thinking plan there. But do keep someone with you to be your "picking-things-up-for-you" person, just in case, haha
Back on topic (sorry for the diversion), I am pretty much finished with my costume. I still have to get the vest made, but even without it, I am realizing that my costume will not do well in conjunction with my (self-diagnosed) hyperhidrosis. I'm doing what I can to try to stay cool and not overheat, but if the weather wanted to cooperate with some clouds and breeziness, it'd be much appreciated, lol.

I think it also has something to do with the way that cosplay is designed. My Mikuru costume was supposed to be breathable, yet I was quite hot and it wasn't even that warm in '09.

It's been in the 90s all week where I live and the sun is still going strong. :/
I wanted to clean out the car yesterday but I had to wait until the sun was going down to do it. I would have DIED if I had went out there earlier. DX I was sweating just walking to take the trash out!
I hope Vancouver is better. :/ I'll have to start watching the weather channel or look it up online to see how it's going to be. Might help me choose my cosplays for certain days.
Oh wait...I'm wearing black for BOTH my cosplays! DX Curse me...
And if I make my Kigurumi then that's all fleece and hot as hell as well... :/ But that would be just a nighttime run around thing.

I'm keeping an eye on the weather too, though I'm not exactly sure why. If it ends up being sunny for Kumoricon, that knowledge won't really do anything good for me. I have cosplays to wear that I have to wear whether it's sunny or cloudy. Knowing the weather won't change anything really, just give me hope or despair....maybe I should stop paying attention, haha.

Currently, according to www.weather.com , the zip code 98660 will have these temps: Friday High 79, Low 56; Saturday High 78 Low 57; Sunday High 75, Low 59. Monday is too soon for them, so they've given averages. Monday High 76, Low 50, record High 102, record Low 37.

I lived in Alaska for five years so getting used to heat isn't too easy for me after I had to learn to live in the cold. It's a lot easier for me to stand outside in the snow in shorts than in this heat in shorts. DX 70 is still hot to me but SOOO much better than 90.

I'm the exact same way!! And nobody I know understands why/how I can stand the cold. I would take freezing over burning any day of the week, lol.
You can put clothes on to alleviate the cold, but what can you do for the heat? Aside from jumping in a pool/shower or A/C, there's nothing you can do to alleviate the heat. It's inescapable...like the plague, lol. And it makes everything stink. And...I have thousands of other reasons I won't rattle off here, haha.

Well, I've seen plenty of women taking it down to sports bras and bikini tops...but that still isn't exactly the same thing. I still think women can get away with more than perhaps would be acceptable in other seasons. The heat is just an understandable enemy, and if it's hot, well...you gotta go what you gotta do, haha.

The turtleneck for Heather, even though it doesn't have sleeves, makes things feel 1000 times hotter. Its not fun having your neck area on fire while your arms are comfortable. And Matry Gumi is a freaking hoodie. With the hood up. Not fun when its hot.

I can agree to this statement, but I also favor the current policy. So tough to choose one or the other... wait, no, sorry. I'm voting for things to stay the same. I'm not liking the idea of my GF walking around public with no shirt; jealousy --> beat downs. 8) I do see your point, though, too.

I used to want to be a guy for that reason alone when I was younger.... I hate heat, and seeing all my guy friends with their shirts off ticked me off, I wanted to too. xD Still makes me envious even now sometimes.

To an extent, I'll agree with this. I've talked about doing so on a more regular basis for some time now (not on the forums, though). I think if I were to get a good enough start on it (and actually have someone tell me what I'm supposed to do in order to avoid shaving off chunks of flesh), I'd be more inclined to keep it up.

I don't know If I believe the weather reports anymore because Weather.com says it will be 90 Saturday and Sunday while Monday will be 84.
Accuweather.com says it's going to be 84 Saturday, 87 Sunday, and 82 Monday.
The local news (channel 2) says almost the same thing as accuweather but instead of 82 Monday, it instead says 91!
I'm not going to look at anymore weather reports until the day we open reg (Friday) because this is giving me a headache!

We have a hard cap on the number of people who can be in the garage. The wall against the hotel has a balcony that provides some semblance of shade.

One of the main reasons for the heat last time won't be applicable this year, from what I understand. Plus, there will be plenty of fans (again, from what I understand) in there, too. It's going to be rather cool down there, especially compared to the last time the con was in the 'Couv.
