Of course I remember Toonami! Back in the day, that's where I got my Dragon Ball Z fix! Waaaaay back in the day, lol. Dragon Ball Z, Outlaw Star, Sailor Moon...that was my after-school routine, haha.

Ah yes and does any one remember tom from it?

There was the afternoon Toonami and the weekend version
YuYu Hakusho, Cyborg 009, and Rurouni Kenshin sailor moon, FMA, different gundam series to name a few

non anime's like Teen Titans, Megas XLR, Justice League Unlimited.

Good stuff

To super: I don't think FMA was ever on Toonami that was on Adult Swim/

To may: My only guess on that show is MAR.

Tried super hard to Upvote/Like this. Toonami made some of THE BEST AMVs.

The show you might be talking about is on there.  It's either Mar or Kiba...I'm thinking Kiba.  good luck.  I might have to watch it now.

The concept of Toonami died off before I ever got cable, so I have no idea what's so special about it, other than by reading what you guys post about it.

What's so special about it is if you were a child of the 90s or early 00s it was your introduction to anime, It had something for everyone, DBZ, Yu Yu Hakusho and others like them if you are a shonen guy, Sailor Moon for the magical girl lovers, Ronin Kenshin and Outlaw Star for the seinen fans, More Gundam than you can shake a stick at and Giant Robot Week if you were a mecha man, and so much more. If it wasn't for Toonami I probably wouldn't be the anime fan that I am.

For someone who didn't live or grow up on it, it's nothing special, just a daily, later weekly, block of cartoons. But for those of us who did grow up on it , it's simply the home of the best action cartoons on the planet.

...or, wait...was Moltar the first host? I can't remember anymore. I remember the short, bulb-headed robot.

The order of hosts goes Moltar, TOM 1 as voiced by Sonny Strait, TOM 2/3/4 voiced by Steven Blum.
And in terms of characters there was only ever two hosts of toonami, since all the TOMs were the same robot just different looks.

Ah, okay then. Yeah, I remember TOM 1 was the host I "grew up with", so to speak. Had no clue Steven Blum did the voices for later TOM, though. That's hilarious (He's Vincent Valentine to me, lol, doesn't matter what else he does).

In essence, what Project A-ko (which I first saw on TV; don't remember the channel) and Blue Seed (rented from Hollywood Video) were for me.

Oh man I grew up on Sailor Moon.. I even named my cat who's 11 now after Queen Serenity (I started watching sailor moon in 1st grade and didn't get serenity till I was in 5th grade). :) I was OBSESSED with SM when I was younger, I miss those days sometimes, lol. Then came DBZ.
My "queen serenity"

Yeah Toonami got me hooked on anime too. I watched DBZ religiously back in the day. Tech Tv also had an anime thing they did for a while before they got raped by G4.

This guy is what I always think of whenever I fondly remember Toonami.

I think Tom 3 is the only one that could be done. the others don't have body proportions that could be done with out reconstructive surgery.

Man I've been googling toonami now thanks to this thread and I'm beside myself with nostalgia. Toonami also introduced me to Beast wars and ReBoot. If I had a time machine I would revisit this portion of my childhood  a million times over.

Absolutely. There really is nothing like it on TV now, nor has there been since. I forgot all about Beast Wars! Man, used to watch that all the time too. At least for some of these things, have DVD's and Netflix, though it's not the same, of course. ReBoot is up on Netflix though. The wife and I have been watching through that a lot recently, heh.

Loved ReBoot...I want to watch it again.  I also started watching Kiba for the first time and am hooked.

The idea of doing Tom 3 is an awesome idea.

I downloaded all of ReBoot a while back and watched it. The first season I mostly enjoyed just because of nostalgia but after that the series is pretty excellent even by my current standards.

I loved Toonami. I'd race home from Elementary school everyday to catch Sailor Moon!! I fell in love with Tenchi Muyo too when the started airing that one. At least we have Adult Swim now though!

I didn't realize Beast Wars was ever on Toonami.  I knew it was on the FOX Saturday line-up, which was when I watched it.  That series was fun.  ReBoot was on ABC's Saturday line-up, I believe; I didn't care for that one.

Reboot is a difficult show to get into. Watching it from the beginning is like trying to watch stargate sg-1 from the beginning now o.O
Early episodes seem cheezy/kiddie, but it actually develops a decent plot.

I recall when i attended college back in the 90's. Toonami was a big part of my life, it's what really got me into anime. Ronin Warriors, Dragon Ball Z, Tenchi Muyo, G-Gundam, Gundam Wing, Big O, Outlaw Star.

And the non anime shows, Reboot, Justice League, Justice League Unlimited.

Yesm glorious memories indeed. Such a pity that T.V. these days that a lot of T.V. netwoirks have become too scared to be creative and are relying on relaity T.V.

In my opinion the networks could learn a lot from Toonami. Personally if they were to ever bring Toonami back one non-anime show i would recommend for the new Toonami, Young Justice.

I'm pretty sure that I saw the first episode or two.  If it takes time for a plot to develop with something cheezy, I tend to not like it too much.  That may be why I didn't like it.

I liked Reboot, a lot. But I agree, it takes a while to get into it. I recently tried re-watching it and I was like, 0.O uhh.... when I watched the first couple episodes. I miss Tenchi Muyo so much. T_T I really want to get the entire series on DVD, but it's one of those anime's that gives me a headache to try and collect in box sets.... Dx

TOONAMI!! Is playing on Adult Swim... RIGHT NOW!! >.> No April Fools Joke. I thought so too, I even checked Comcast and Comcast didn't list the shows. But I turned it to Adult Swim to watch a bit before bed, and Tenchi Muyo was on. Then A TV spot came on with Tom and now they are playing Outlaw Star. Big O is next, then Yu Yu Hakusho. >.>

AS apparently made an announcement they need more voiced opinions though to offically bring it back. So go make an account at the AS website forums and under General Discussion there's MANY Toonami threads you need to give a shout out in. As well as AS's twitter account.

So, anyone watching Toonami? Got any series you're enjoying? I've been following Deadman Wonderland. I had already seen the subbed version and loved it, and while the English dub is...good...I have to say the voice actor for Shiro is driving me crazy. I don't like the way she's doing her voice. The Japanese VO had a soft innocence to her voice, but the English dub just comes off as nasally and very artificially high. Other than that...still loving the show.
