my question is, should I change my cosplays if thats the case? and if so then who should I cosplay? I don't want to ruin a good cosplay with braces.

Just smile with your mouth closed for pictures. :D You really can't tell then. I had braces for ~forever~ and they became unnoticeable after a while because I never used my teeth to smile.

Braces, Appearence, anything. It will not ruin a cosplay. : )
Just have fun; that's all that matters!
I say, give the biggest smile you have! It shows you have the true spirit of a cosplayer! Unless the character is all serious. Then give the death stare and blow the camera up with your mind.

It REALLY won't be noticeable. Seriously. As a person who had K-con as goal to have my braces off by, but that didn't happen, it really didn't change anything, and cosplay wise, it doesn't change anything. I really mean it, don't change your cosplays cause of braces. I remember I was scared that it was going ruin my kumoricon, but it has no affect. Especially if your a girl, some reason my friend noticed that girls who have braces, people don't notice them as much, but for boys its a bit more noticeable but I really wouldn't worry about it, it only has positives, you can now cosplay characters who have braces ^^

LOLOLOL it's like saying "having glasses, and can't wear contacts, cuz i have an eye infection/disorder" will ruin the cosplay :P well in some cases it can, but BRACES??? are you kidding me??? i WANT braces! you have NO idea how much FUN i can have with those 8D change the colors of the elastic to the colors of my cosplays? HECK YES! *w*

i wear glasses and i cannot get contacts because of it because I need to see half the time though I have to take off my glasses for pictures.

WEll of course there aren't going to be anime characters with braces, the Japanese think that imperfect teeth are lucky and that it'll bring good luck to the family if their children have bad teeth.

I don't think you should change your cosplay plans at all. I've seen people cosplaying while wearing casts or knee braces. Medical conditions happen; if cosplay is still possible, do it. Since you're getting oral braces, you may want to avoid open-mouth smiles, but only if it bothers you. I've taken a picture of someone with braces once before; neither one of us were bothered by them. Just do your thing and enjoy doing it!

That shouldn't be an issue once Kumoricon comes along (at least I wouldn't think so).

^ Well, you'll be okay afterwards. Besides, reppy does have a point. Braces do often add a level of cuteness to most people.

Don't worry after say... 4 days they'll feel better, and with everyday of tightening they hurt again, but everytime it goes away in a couple of days. I'm sure they don't look as bad as you think they do. Hehe.

See I can't smile during pictures either because my teeth are messed up but I do however make a great smile without teeth so it won't be so bad :3
