So I was talking to my friend a while ago about how i dont like it when people dont update the first post on who all will be cosplaying what xnd then realized i havent updated this one xD. i personally like updated posts cause then everyone knows on the first page who all is going as what and you dont get asked the same question over and over on "who all is going as who?"

Ohmygawd!!!! xD I can totally wear my Sailor Saturn cosplay! I've had it for three years and still haven't had any occasion to wear it... it isn't the greatest because I didn't get to make it, I bought it, but I can totally bring it!
Just gotta remake my silence glaive [sp?] I just trashed my old one a few days ago :P but it was really crappy.
I can try to get my sister to be a scout... but she'll most likely just stick with the Meiko cosplays.

Mars may be overdone but I've ALWAYS wanted to be a Sailor Senshi growing up, so Super Mars is my first choice if I feel comfortable with that outfit by then. If not, I'll go as Rei Hino Summer Uniform =P

For photo shoots, the park across from the Hilton will be PERFECT~! We have that little water run way there, a stage (for those who wanna do the 'stage entrance' XD) and soooooo much greenery that I think it'd be perfect. Ze Aaron adds to this that there's also a children's playground there to rip off one of the movies... (sailor moon R ze Chan thinks??)
Plus~!~! I wanna invade VAncouver Mall/Westfield Shopping Center (ALWAYS Vancouver Mall to me!) and if nothing else, go to Unique Imports. ^^

It might have been on the other Sailor Moon thread we were discussing this, I can't remember and I'm too lazy to check, but I think we have all of the Senshi except for Mercury and Pluto...and I know there're two Uranuses (Urani?) and maybe two Neptunes, depending on if my friend ends up doing her.

As long as our funds are good, we plan to do the princess dresses.
Myself will be Princess Uranus.
KinkyFriedChicken will be Princess Neptune.
Frozen Light will be Princess Pluto.
And two of my cousins, who are not on the forums, will possibly be Princess Saturn and Princess Mars.

SM RPG Update!
Since this weekend is when I have to submit at least a notice and range of days/times on the entry form I plan on putting the Sailor Moon RPG session on either Day 1 in the afternoon/evening so that everyone who didn't pre-reg can get through registration, or Day 2 in the evening after the cosplay contest.

So right after the panel sounds good. We'd all be in one place and in costume. Same goes for the RPG, but I think after that we'd all be a little tired. It sounds like it's gonna be pretty long. Maybe wait until we have a definite time for the panel and then schedule it right after? When do we usually get the schedule released?

i wanted to pop in randomly and say that theres a good chance that i wont be going to Kumori con. College is gonna be starting up in Septembet and i will be putting a lot of time to it. i dont think i will be able to make it to Kumori >.<

If you haven't already, I'd recommend doing so, simply because this thread is supposed to be about the cosplaying of the characters.
I'm going to look into getting fabric samples here during this week and taking them to my "taylor" for her input, as well as getting measured! (I'll have to remember to bring my bra and breasts for that...) :P

With all my extra fabric laying around I was thinking of making Sailor Jupiter, Venus, or Mars (Maybe all three cause I have enough fabric for each).
But I was curious which version to make? Regular, Super, or Eternal? I don't really know which would fit in best or if I should make the base leotard and then made the parts that change able to be switched out. (Which would be the butt bow, chest gem, skirt, shoulder pieces, and collar.)
For those of you who can't mentally visualize the changes, here are some Jupiter examples.

i say super its the prettyest. also the being able to change the pieces is nice but can be a pain if you do it wrong the first time good luck!

From the first post, it looks like most of us are going Regular but a fair few are going Super. I didn't see anyone doing Eternal, so that might be cool if you want to stand out. It looks like we've got regular Jupiter and Venus and Super Mars so far.

I would do Sailor Mercury (I have fabric for her, too) but I don't really have a wig for her...
I have a short light blue wig (http://images.cosplay.com/data/1/large/blue2.jpg) but it's not the most accurate even though it was titled as a Mercury wig when I got it way back when.
So I guess it's really which of the four inner senshi and then which version to main. XP
I kinda like the two skirts of Eternal. But the other two are more recognizable. DX

MERCURY. XD You can always dye and cut the wig, and last we checked she and Pluto were the only ones we were missing to have a complete set (and then some).
And I think Eternal is plenty recognizable. People might not know exactly which version it is, but I think anyone at an anime convention who saw someone in an Eternal costume would know it was a senshi.

I've never cut or dyed a wig though. Plus, this wig is about five years old and was the first one I ever bought. The fibers keep falling out if you run your hands through it and it's very fragile. So I don't want to make it worse. D:

Hmmm...if it's that old and in that poor shape, I'm not sure. But if you think it could work, cutting wigs is quite easy, you just have to take it slowly. And it looks like all you'd really have to do is take it up a little in the back, it's pretty close to the right length. Really, the main thing to remember when cutting wigs (and hair in general) is to not just cut straight across unless you're trying to make it really severely straight at the bottom. You need to cut upwards more; I'm sure there are tutorials around that can explain it better than I am. ^^;
I've never dyed a wig either, but from what I've heard, Sharpie dyeing is pretty simple (although time consuming) and I've seen some very good results. I can dig up a thread about it I found on Cosplay.com if you want. You can do it while you watch TV XD. It might be a better idea than traditional dyeing too because you can be gentler with your wig.

Mistress 9 update! My new (super-dee-duper long) wig came, so I threw everything together for a progress shot (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v349/Tomecko/wip_remake.jpg). I still need to string some more pearls for the arms and hem my skirt (which I'm still not completely happy with... stretch knit fits nice, but doesn't have that nice dressy look).
Chelseahavoc - Ooo, you're remaking Beryl? Does you haz progress pics? ;D
WashougalOtaku - I think that wig would work just fine for Mercury! Although you'd make a great Jupiter, Venus, or Mars, too. It would be cool to have one basic leotard with interchangeable parts for each scout, although the difference between Sailor/Supersailor and Eternal is that Eternal doesn't have the under-bust seam, like the other two transformations.
I've noticed we haven't had much in the way of Eternal scouts (except for one amazing Eternal Sailor Moon at K-con '09)! We should all plan on an Eternal group one of these years. I'm planning to make my Eternal Sailor Saturn in the next year or two, and I even got my non-anime-loving friend to agree to be my Eternal Sailor Pluto for a day. I already got her wig, it's the most beautiful color!

I'm still unsure of who I'm going to do but I put a question up on facebook and I'm going to see what people want to see most.
And a friend asked if she could do Mercury with me if I don't do her. XP
But tomorrow I'm going to make the base leotard and the base of the gloves.
I'm also going to head to Wallmart or Joanns and get some elastic for the skirt(s). I'm probably going to go through with the interchangeable pieces. For the chest seam I'm going to make a piece of chest armor to go over the leotard for Regular and Super that can just be slipped off for Eternal. Skirts will be elastic skirts probably with an added attachment feature such as Velcro or snaps. The shoulders and sailor collar will Velcro on. Bows will be either snaps or broach pins.
I need to scope out where I can get some clay to make the tiara and find some stuff to make gems.

Strung some pearls today, and picked up some stretch satin to try and remake the skirt. This'll be the fourth time I try to make a Mistress 9 skirt that I'm happy with. Bah!
Wrath Chan - Aw, thanks! And yes, the wig is hell. I'm afraid to move in it, even just to take a WIP shot.
Gryffinclaw Princess - Good idea! I saw a Super Sailor Moon who had a 'chest armor' piece, it looked really good. Sometimes if the seam is just sewn, the line is so subtle that it looks like an Eternal leotard anyways. Let us know what you find for gems, I'm scared to try resin casting (I hear it smells awful), but I'll need to be making various black and purple stars for Eternal Saturn and Pluto soon.
Also, that Disney princess pic is awesome, except for no Saturn! ;D Who is the girl who's being Uranus? I don't recognize her. And they left out Cinderella... (she has stupid hair anyways)

Although I've always wondered what the original height for Saturn/Hotaru is - 4'7" is her height after she's reborn and reawakened as a scout, but she was older (and taller) before her rebirth. And she grows older as Mistress 9, too, and I've never seen M9's height listed (for instance, that site also lists it as 4'7", which is clearly incorrect). </saturnobsession>
Nearly finished my new skirt! Stretch satin is a beautiful, beautiful thing. I love it. Now I just have hem it, and trim the slip so I don't trip constantly. That skirt is hard enough to move in as it is. :P

As for Mistress 9... You would have to look at her in comparison to the other girls in screenshots. :/ I can't find any but two at the moment but she probably didn't grow too much. One I did find had her holding Sailor Moon who was bent over a bit and Mistress 9 was still a bit shorter. So it was either the angle or she is shorter that Sailor Moon which would make it probable that she was still 4'7" since she is in Hotaru's body. The other was her by Dr. Tomoe and she is a bit shorter than he is. So he is either very short or the earlier shot had a bad angle.
Assuming Dr. Tomoe is around Darien's height... Mistress 9 would be about 5'6" equaling Wicked Lady's height.

I don't think there's much chance of us getting accurate heights for Chibi and Saturn (and possibly even Usagi), unless some of us have little sisters to recruit? That would be pretty awesome. ;D And I'm pretty sure Uranus is the tallest scout... it's hard to find bios with their heights in them (and uh... most reports are radically different), but what few sites I found still listed Uranus as taller than Pluto.

I have friends that are as short as Saturn... but they live in Arizona XP so it doesn't really help.
I thought Pluto was taller than all the other scouts, but since Uranus could pass as a guy I suppose she must be taller XD

What I'd love to find is official info from Takeuchi, on their height in centimeters. I think a lot of the problem is people rounding off the metric-to-imperial conversions. I found a lot of sites that swear Usagi is 5'2" and Venus is 5'0". Inaccuracies abound among the fanbase? Does anyone have an artbook with bio informaton? There's some bios in my manga, but they don't list height.

Her school shoes. Stupid double strap black heels.... I cant find any cheap black heels that look comfy to even alter in my size. So I'm going to try and find a way to alter my own black heels and hope I can attach the straps to the shoes in a way that wont permanently attach the straps.
And her stupid knee socks too D< All the knee socks either have one red stripe across or three... not two. Poop.
Since my cosplay is so simple this year I'm also looking for her school bag... I found perfect matches to it but they are $100+ leather laptop cases which I cannot afford. But I want her bag and I was going to carry props in it like her transformation pen, a pet crow, etc.... xD

I am posting this for a friend of mine (I am sorry that I have to play messenger but he doesn't really know how to use the forums)
He is going FOR SURE (pre-registered and all ;D ) to Kumoricon. He plans on cosplaying Tuxedo Mask.
He really wants to be apart of a Sailor Moon meet-up/photo shoot. I believe he said he only plans to be in cosplay all of Saturday (I could be wrong I will double check). Do you guys need a Tuxedo Mask? What information do you guys need?

I believe we were planning to have the Sailor Moon meetup/photoshoot on Day 2, Sunday. We don't have exact times yet, but last I heard the plan was to have a mid-afternoon panel run by a bunch of us in costume and then find somewhere for a photoshoot directly after. So it'd be cool if he could cosplay on Sunday too, but if not I'm sure no one would mind him tagging along to the shoot anyway just to hang out with fellow fans.

Duuuude, yes! I was thinking if we were to do it as a group, it would be best to have one person do each part - like somebody make all the fuku, somebody make the gloves, somebody make the collars, etc. - so we would all look the same. Or at least make sure we're using all the same kind of fabric.

I can't get her contacts this year cause they wouldn't be here on time for con (YouKnowIt is in the UK) but I do have other contacts so I know how much they can hurt. I wear glasses/contacts normally but I have an astigmatism and my eyes aren't 0.0 base curve so non-prescription 0.0 contacts hurt my eyes at first. Then I get used to them and ignore them. But I made the mistake of not paying attention when I put in my Umbreon contacts today and one was upside down. D: The pain! I could hardly get them out because of how much it hurt. Seriously, anyone who ever wear contacts needs to be very careful. I was just being stupid and it was my own fault so meh. But I have two pairs of cosplay contacts so another wouldn't be so bad. :) I have Shiny Umbreon (yelow cat eyes) and Sasuke's Sharingan for my Shippuden Sasuko.
I would go with my own eye color but I have hazel eyes. :/ So it's hard for me to find characters with my eye color.

Alrighty, I've got my materials and I've a shirt for the base of the outfit since I don't have a leotard or a pattern to make one xP
Tonight I shall start this cosplay. Thanks for the cheers everyone ^_^ I'll try to post pictures of the progress.
Also, I'm going to try to make the boots as well... that is going to be tough.

Good luck, Saturn boots are horrible to find. I spent a long time looking for knee-high lace-up purple boots, a search string which gives back a bunch of scary hooker boots, for some reason. ;D I just painted a black pair with purple paint, I didn't think my boot-cover skills would be up to snuff.

Boots can be kinda tough, What I had to do with my boots for Jupiter was cut and paint them to size and then put in metal eyelits. (the ones you have to use a hammer to make fit correctly) Its a bit time consuming but it looks great once its done.
Also wanted to say i'll be making an appearance as Jediete to the photoshoot (because my queen said I had to .n. )

For me, I'm just using my black high heels that I wore for my old Mikuru bunnygirl cosplay. I was able to find a pair that could've worked, but finances have been rather tough lately, so I decided to have the shoes be an "only if I have the money/time" thing.

I was lucky enough to find a pair at Goodwill that were really close to the style I needed, so I just painted them blue and they look fine. There are some differences if you're looking for them, but they're a remarkably close match. I lucked out. XD

Rei Hino is pretty much done. Got the main pieces, got my haircut (no wig whee!!) Now onto minor details and props~

The photoshoot will be after the panel, which, if I remember correctly, is scheduled to end at 4pm. We'll be meeting in the lobby of the Hilton, then migrating to the shoot site. I think the location is still TBD, but I think the waterfront park by Who Song & Larry's is being considered.

I have quite a bit of Saturn complete ( tonight I'll take some pictures) I'm sewing the skirt to the... body piece and velcro-ing the bows tonight. I already have the gloves from my previous Saturn cosplay. All I'll need to do is the boots, tiara and the necklace.
And the Silence Glaive. >.<' even though the boots are more complicated it's the Glaive that I'm worried about not making on time XP

Rofflz - for my glaive, I was able to make it in 4 days (including painting time) all with supplies from my local Lowe's. Try the aisle with chair legs, they're great for the finial bits at the bottom of the glaive. I did need the help of a friend and his power tools to get all the parts attached, we drilled holes down the middle of all the wood pieces and ran threaded bolts through. Gorilla Glue also helps. The tricky part is figuring out the best way to attach your blade to the main staff. Make the attachment point too slim and it'll snap from the weight (like mine did, last year, during the photoshoot... and right before I was supposed to be in the Cosplay Contest).

-The picture is small and not good quality, but that's what I have accomplished in the past two days.
*The collar isn't sewn on, it's just pinned into place for the picture, I still have to add the white line and the bows. ^.^
**Tomorrow night I'll do the bows and begin working on the Silence Glaive, because I just got back from Dallas and Salem and I'm so tired I can't work on it tonight.
***Also I might end up painting my knee high Converse purple to use for Saturn instead of searching for boots. xP Unless I find a pair at GoodWill and right now, I don't even care if they lace up or not >.<

Aw, a sad fate for awesome knee-high sneakers. But I suppose they'd still be wearable, just purple. It's looking great so far! The sleeve rolls especially, those suckers are tricksy.

Washougal Otaku - I don't use an official wig detangler, another cosplayer told me any gloss or shine serum works just as well. I use got2b glossy Shine Serum, it's like 5 bucks at Walgreens.

I'm building and finishing the Silence Glaive today, and Saturn's outfit. I'm going to see if the paint I have will stay on the boots I found for Saturn at GoodWill. Hopefully they'll last a day of walking DX
-I still need to figure out what to do about my hair... I don't have a wig, so I'll either 1) Temporarily dye my hair black or 2) Find a cheap costume wig and only wear it for a day.

I dunno about a tutorial, but in that picture it looks like she just attached two pieces of the scarf fabric up under the collar and crossed them over each other, and then wrapped another piece of fabric over the intersection to conceal it.

I'm still not sure how to tie that stupid bow to look like this: http://i52.tinypic.com/2e4yzhy.jpg and I'm not sure what to do about the socks... the permanent marker I used on them to create the red line is running and dying my socks pink. Sewing ribbon onto them won't work either because of the elastic, it won't fit over the biggest part of my leg as I pull them up to my knee. =/

I think, for the bow, you should make a little strip of fabric that snaps closed into a loop and use that to secure it. In those reference pictures, it doesn't look like it's tied, rather that the two strips are crossed over and secured in the middle with a strap.
Aside from that, your costume looks great!

That looks awesome, Kimiski! I love that you have her ofuda purity paper dealies. As for the socks, I'd see if you can get ahold of red elastic (probably not enough time left before con, but maybe for the next time you wear Rei). I've gotten colored elastic here (http://www.bitsybands.com/index.php), but the largest they sell is 1/4" wide, and I don't know if you want thicker than that.

& Like, Chibachi Nero said; the other bows look like the middle, cross section, thing was tied with another piece of material to give it the affect of being tied. It's what I did to my Saturn bows. It really looks good instead of having to tie it.
~BTW; I've finished my Saturn, I just need to figure out what to do with my hair. Usually I would dye it permanantly, but then I couldn't bring Len Kagamine and Allen Walker as extra cosplays. >.<

kimi. that reminds me of what i did for my rikku "boots" if you wre 2 or three pairs of socks and hot glue (yes hot glue thats why its 3 pairs to save you from burns) the ribbon on it will stay and you'll be fine with the elastic parts because you would have worn it when glueing it. worked fine for me just dont do it too tight

I can view Rofflz' album and click on the pics, but I can't 'open in a new tab' so that they can be easily saved. But you can click 'download' below the picture, tell it to open with Firefox, and then you can save them that way (or you can just say 'save file,' but then you can't rename them or choose what folder to save to, it just shows up in your download folder). Thanks for posting 'em up, Rofflz! They look great.
As for mine, I took about 500 pictures this year, which is over twice as many as I usually take at con. And I insist on editing out red eye and terrible hotel lighting before I upload, so it'll be a while. At least the photoshoot pics won't require editing, since they're outdoors.

Or my favorite, a girl who posted up a picture of me labeling me Sailor Pluto and her friend commented, "Best Sailor Pluto I've seen!" NO. I am the WORST Sailor Pluto you've ever seen!

Sailor Pluto is my favorite. I'm not typically a fan of magical girl, and have never even cosplayed a female character at all, but I would cosplay Pluto if I could.

^ Maybe it's because I haven't been doing it too long, or because of my gender, but I found it funny when people got my scout incorrectly. I was sort of confused by some of the incorrect guesses, but found amusement in the attemps nontheless.
I'll most likely be going as Neptune for one day at Sakuracon, but at this point, I'm still iffy on whether or not she'll make a return to KCon '12.

Really? Well if that's the case, then it sounds like Bandai would be the most likely to do so, or at least license it. I've seen some anime that was licensed for American distribution, but has yet to be dubbed over. (Maria Holic, for example).
