Just a reminder that we will be closing the Karaoke contest pre-con signups at 11:59PM PDT on this Saturday, August 27th.
A list of accepted contestants will be posted on Sunday night, August 28th. So far, I think we'll be able to take everyone who's signed up already, but in the unlikely event we can't, the determining factor will be who signed up first.
Depending on the amount of time available in the schedule for the Tryout/Preliminary session, we may or may not be able to accomodate at-con signups. So if you really want to be in the contest, we strongly recommend that you sign up by the Saturday deadline.

What if we signed up with a song, then found out it wasn't on your list? Can we change it while at the con so we can still sing a different song?

What if we signed up and then it turns out we are tottally changing what we are doing. I was doing a duet but now i have to do a different performance, solo.. T__T

The only issue I see here is the change in the number of people in your group. At the audition be sure to let us know that it will only be you. That can't change from audition to contest. If you audition as two, you can't compete with a different amount. Can't change members in between either.

You can. You can also sing one sing at auditions and another at contest. Or...

...you can bring your own music, and perform with that. I strongly recommend original discs. Clearly mark whatever you bring. The rules for format, etc. are still up on the main page, under the contest link, or just click here (http://www.kumoricon.com/?q=node/17).

Also, can we do songs that are on Japanese jpop albums but are by American bands? I don't have time to learn another Japanese song by the con.

I'd be kinda afraid to bring my original cd with me, as I tend to forget things and I want to make sure I get that back.

There are no bonus points given for doing a different song.
EDIT: Initially I said it would count for brownie points. But brownie points are not considered in the contest. For this year, there is no advantage or disadvantage to singing the same song twice.
American songs "covered" by Japanese artists are not allowed in the contest. The same goes for American songs which were used in an anime series.

Yes, that's okay. We will make a best effort to return your CD to you, but ultimately, we are not responsible for lost or unclaimed CDs.

K, I signed up and it said it'd send me an email, but I haven't gotten anything, does this mean my application wasn't accepted or something?

1. No costuming is required.
2. Yes, the first round is the audition and the second round is the main contest.
Instead of sending out emails, I will post a list of names to the forum on Sunday night. If your name is posted, you are in the contest and will have a spot in the auditions.
