Okay all you Kumoricon fans!
*spooky ghost story voice*
Was Con not enough? Do you feel the need to meet and mingle once more? Is the call of cosplay too loud in your ears to ignore? Does the hair on the back of your neck rise when you think about the fact that Kumoricon 2011 is more than TEN MONTHS away!?

Well don't let this Halloween pass you by without a satiating that thirst with us at the spooktacular Game Day/MiniCon being held at the Hilton Vancouver Washington (A.K.A. the site of the 2011 Kumoricon Convention!) in the Discovery Ballroom from 9AM to 10PM!
There will be costumes!
There will be contests!
There will be LARP! And Consoles! And Table Top Gaming!
Plus a ton more!
If you are ready to have a frighteningly good time then check out the calendar for all you need to know about our horrifically awesome event, being held in association with the awesome people from GameStorm!
And Don't Forget...
Bring a volume (or two, or three!) of Manga to donate to the Manga Library and be entered into a raffle for a chance to win a trip to OryCon! A special guest of Kumoricon will be drawing the lucky winners name during the contests so check the calendar page for more details!
Orycon is Oregon's Premier Science Fiction Convention and is being held November 12th - 14th at the Doubletree Hotel Portland! The winner of our raffle gets two (2) passes into the convention plus two (2) nights stay at the Doubletree Hotel Portland! Tickets in and Room & Tax paid for? Sounds like a great prize to me!

for the raffel do you have to be present?

Because of the nature of the raffle being so specific (needing guest info, names and requiring your information for a hotel room and tickets to a convention) we do ask that you be present during the raffle/contest time. If you cannot be present, perhaps a friend could take your raffle tickets and maybe work together to win as a group? Hotel rooms can have 4 people in them, so people could better there chances by working together as a group donating a ton of Manga and "winning" for the team!

All of the contests, including the raffle and costume contest kick off around 4:30pm, we are trying to save the raffle for a special guest to announce around 6pm, it all depends on time, but plan for 4:30.
And about Japanese Manga - I am gonna go ahead and say yes! Why not!

We typically don't accept those 'phonebook' monthly/weekly/whatever manga magazines that come out. For example: Shonen Jump, Wings, Morning. If it is something particularly nifty we might consider it.

From 3:30 to 4:30pm, I will be there with my camera to take cosplay photos for people who are interested. If you are in cosplay and would like to get some photos of yourself, meet at 3:30pm outside the hotel, at the corner of 6th and Columbia. That's across the street from the park, across from the tower with the fish. Depending on the weather we can probably take a few photos in the park.
I wish I could come for more of the event, but I already have two other commitments on Saturday, so I'll have to just drop by for a short while.

And, yes, there will be LARP-ish fun!
We will be having some theater games and Are You A Werewolf (as well as other Are You A...? games of our own making) for warming up and intro to LARP. There will be a silly Zombie game ala OG (the caveman game we ran at this year's Kumoricon) and then there will be the showcase game: Cosplay Crossover. This will be similar to the one that we put on at this year's Kumoricon, but with a new rules system and a few added touches. The basic premise is the same: come and play as the character you are dressed up as (works great for cosplayers, but for you non-costumey folk, we'll just come up with something for you).
We won't bite... well, maybe the zombies will...

Though I personally can't afford to come up from Eugene, this event sounds wonderful, especially with Ally's exuberant description/ invitation, and OMG the chance to go for free to Orycon....I strongly encourage anyone and everyone to enter this raffle, because free entry to Orycon is about the best prize EVER! Last year was my first Orycon, and folks, it is FANTASTIC. It's their 32nd year; they really know what they're doing. There are a *ton* of panels about improving or even professionalizing one's skills in areas such as writing, editing, singing/filking, and costuming. They have an entire wing for filk, and we Creation Station folks are running a programming room there all weekend, as well, with crafts and a Copic art contest like those at Kumoricon, and with new, amazing panels on making corsets and making swords. In addition to a regular dance, they are having a Thriller dance, so practice those eerie zombie glares and moves now....Orycon has other features that are unique, such as offering childcare. The theme this year is "The Dark Side of Fantasy", and it's a great place for cosplay! And since Orycon is at the Kumoricon 2005 and 2008 hotel, the Doubletree Lloyd Center, which most of us loved, you'd likely feel right at home there. :)

Hrmm... depends. Our Library Guru will be at the event and she might okay it. If we have none, a few volumes might be good diversity.
If it's a translation of a manga into Chinese, I really doubt it. If it's an original Chinese one and it's pretty, we might accept some :)

Just wanted to say I thought the event was fun. ^^ I kind of wish it was a little more social, because it seemed like particularly in the game room, we were all just kind keeping to ourselves. Towards the end of the night though, I ended up playing a few games of Pitch Car (a board game) with some random people, so that was fun.
Also, the costume contest was fun. And I think I saw you AllyKat. O: Were you one of the hosts for the costume contest? ^^ If so, your song rocked! And I wanted to say hi but every time I saw you you were surrounded by people D: So I didn't wanna be a bother. >_>
I totally saw you Taikei (and asked if you were from the forums), but I dunno if you recognized me. ^^

Today, for me, was really fun! I got involved in a lot of stuff and met some really nifty new people. xD LARP was really cool and so was the Cosplay Contest; and thanks to LARP I got a ticket and won something in their raffle, huzzah!
Oh, I was the Matt Ishida from Digimon that was wandering around.
The only downside for me was that there were no snack-vendor-people. I didn't get to eat all day because someone I was with couldn't leave the building. So yeah. x_x; Never been to Vancouver before either so that didn't help. BUT ALL IN ALLLLL, great day!

bTW, kit2kit has outrageously long hair O___O Dunno how she fits all up in her little cap when she does her Luke cosplay. As she said herself, "It's a puzzle." Been wracking my brain trying to figure it out XD

Yep! Debra and I were the awesomesauce hosts of the cosplay event! It was so much fun to talk to all the cosplayers! I love playing around like that!
P.S. A THOUSAND apologies to everyone who had to hear me sing again!
I hope some of the pictures get up soon! I know Spott was rocking the camera wicked and will probably get some nice shots out of the event! I hope everyone had fun and got to be silly! Make sure you let us know if you like events like this with GameStorm and OryCon because we like them a lot and we'd love to work with them more if you guys do!

I kinda wanna find a group of people that play board games now D: I played Apples to Apples (lolz, Pots only scored once), Rumis, and PitchCar and now I wanna play moar gamez. O:
And speaking of Pots.. if you were wondering why during the cosplay contest she said "EAT YOUR APPLE SAUCE" when asked if she had anything else she wanted to say .. well .. umm .. One night, me, Pots, and thesirensings were on an MSN party chat. For some reason, we were roleplaying some strange situation with a couple of kids and a grandma. And at one point, I was the grandma. I was a very strict and proper grandma. I was yelling at them to EAT THEIR APPLE SAUCE. (If I recall, thesirensings didn't want to because "it looks like diarrhea.") Anyways, so now every time I see Pots I yell "EAT YOUR APPLE SAUCE!!!"
I totally saw a really pretty girl with braces on in the game room playing card games and I wanted to talk her but she was always with other people and I'm super shy and I don't even know why I'm saying this as a single really long run-on sentence in small font so I'll shut up now D:

Wow. The America pics are amazing. There is a hilarious fanfic that won a prize in Creation Station last year, a section of which was on our page (22) in the Con Book this year, a conversation between America and Stephen Colbert. We've always wanted to see it cosplayed or crossplayed as Fanfic Theatre. I'd be up for crossplaying Stephen Colbert (or seeing anyone else cross- or cosplay him) if whomever that is in the pics would be up for being America. It's by animeangelash & is called "A More Perfect Union".

Not having seen that much of the show, I have no idea what Prussia's character is like, so I can only say, "Almost anyone would've been cooler than Prussia."
(The scene that I watched that led me to not like Hetalia had Lithuania & Latvia (I think) talking about how Russia scared them, Russia came up to them all friendly & stuff, and they were shaking like they had 35 cups of coffee; it was dull, yet some girls were laughing their faces red at that part).

Lithuania Latvia and Estonia are in Hetalia, and owned by Russia. Russia is kind of...Bipolar and abuses them :D
Lithuania is Russia's favorite to torment, and they are all basically maids in Russia's house, except Estonia seems to have more..confidence i guess. (just a tad)

:) if you guys are talking about me, the only cosplay photo shoot I did that day was the one with Taikei as America, and I already posted that. I had 2 other (non-cosplay) photo shoots that day, so I didn't have time to do more than that.
I'll probably be scheduling some more cosplay shoots for December or January though.

GameStorm will be having another free Game Day Saturday, October 23rd at the Vancouver Hilton, but it will not be of the same scale as last year.... just their Game Library and some RPG's, I believe. If you haven't had a chance to check it out, you should... they have some amazing games you can play :)

I didn't feel like reading 8 pages to have this question addressed, but shouldn't there be a mention of what day of the week it is? Some people will remember that it's on a Sunday better than the actual date itself.

If you had read my post 3 posts up, you would have seen the answer to your question. Let me repeat:
