On behalf of our new Relations Director I am starting the recc thread! So start making requests! Your votes go a long way in helping Relations figure out what sort of Guest is good to invite, even when your requests are a bit ... ambitious.
A couple of notes:
*If we have good reason to think shenanigans are going on with the requests, we will start discounting all the 'points' a Guest had gotten in this thread from questionable sources. Ditto with spamming the Relations email address. We do have ways (of making Jeff) check on these sorts of things.
*Everyone has the right to promote their favorite picks in this thread. Please, no negative statements about other people's choices. If you have a serious concern, please message us privately. No harshing on other people's squee.

i reccomned the symphonic anime quartet (or the orchestra if enough room available). they are a group of people dedicated to music and anime. they like to be guest's at cons and take local musicians and play good music. you can find a link to their website here: http://www.animeorchestra.org/ (http://www.animeorchestra.org/) i highly urge everyone to promote them as i think having a live orchestra play would be really great.

I want Sonny Strait again next year. Why? because he was awesome, and others and I had great had fun with him, he's funny, and there is an aura of epicness surrounding him. (I was the Miniskirt Mustang, who did the thing during his late panel on Sunday >_>)

I will keep my reccomendations vague, as sometime asking for specific people is quite difficult.
1. SOMEONE from the anime industry that is from Japan.
Seriously, a band, an artist, a writer, a voice actor, anyone. Japanese industry presence at an American anime convention.
2. Having just the one concert on Friday was much easier than the crazy mess of doing a show Sunday night or whatnot. My second request is for a band that has a show Friday night, and maybe performs 1-2 songs at closing ceremonies. There is Soul Candy, Slants, as well as the ability to ask for a Japanese independent band from a license company.
3. Bandai and Funimation contacts have already been established at some point in the past I am guessing, so whatever series we can get a screening for we should have someone from that series. If it is a known name such as Cristina Vee, then awesome! If not, that is okay too. We could have the honor of saying we were someone's first convention visit.
4. Jason Thompson. Writer of King of RPGs manga, manga editor for many years, he has an article on Anime News Network, the guy has expressed interest in being a guest before. I forwarded his contact info once before, but nothing came of it. Added bonus, the guy lives in western Washington, so his commute to the con would be simpler than many other guests.
5. Warning! This recommendation is a huge shameless plug, read if you dare. 91.8 The Fan is an online radio station focused on Japanese music, but not just anime songs! Jrock, Jpop, some Korean music (Girl's Generation, Super Junior, etc), Chinese music like Jay Chou and even some LittleKuribo and brentalfloss tracks. www.918thefan.com

I don't know if I'd say "best known" for that; from what I've seen, he's more known for playing one of the Hiitachin twins in Ouran Host Club or Watanuki from xxxHolic.
Having Piano Squall come back would be kinda cool.
Oh, a non-anime related guest that'd be awesome would be Tara Strong! I've recommended her before in the past, but only because she's so awesome! Some of her more famous roles include:

I'm really upset about not being able to make it to Akicon this year, for the sole reason of meeting/seeing Johnny Yong Bosch, so...
I vote for Johnny Yong Bosch. I can't express how much I would love to see this man and attentively listen and soak in everything he has to say at panels.
He'll probably get snatched up for 2011 cons really quick, though, since he's so cool.

She's has over 900 subscribers (counting all of the accounts) she's on her third account because of account issues.. I think. She does fandubs and really amazing songcovers, I think she could be a great guest. She's really sweet and loves what she does.

I would love to have Doug Walker come to the convention, He's on the website, Thatguywiththeglasses.com, he does nostalgia critic, and some other things as well, and he usually goes to conventions alot and has some Q&A panels and interacts with people in the convention, a very cool and funny guy. Big ditto on both being happy to see Jeph Jacques and loving Hanners... personally, I can't imagine someone not finding her adorable. The strip definitely needs more Hanners and more Momo-tan, though lately we've been lucky and gotten some big doses of Hanners.

They wouldn't be able to tell us anything about the future plans of any manga, but it would be interesting to hear what it was like working for one of the early pioneers. They'd have a lot less reason to hold back on giving us an insider's look into the manga field, and... well, I hate to be blunt, but now they have a lot more time on their hands.

Back at their concert with Boom Boom Satellites at Peter's Room Halloween of 2010 the Slants and I chatted a bit. Turns out they really want to come back to Kumoricon this year- the love us! I said I'd try to get a word in, but I couldn't find out how to contact the proper admin about this. Thus the thread.
