Mine had to have been the first time I watched Zoids and the Liger Zero got his new armor. I was like nine and my mind = blown.
-
The first time in Full Metal Alchemist when Scar asploded this one dude's face .. It was like the first time you actually saw him use his powers .. I'm sitting here gearing up, "Oh man this is going to be such an epic batt -- HOLY @Q#!$%@#$@#$%@#!@ WHAT THE !@#!@ JUST HAPPENED?!$!@# THAT GUY'S HEAD EXPLODED!!!!!!! WHOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!"
-
I remember that. BOOM HEADSHOT. i was also personally impressed the First time Negi activated Magica Erebrea in Mahou Sensei Negima.
-
Dead Leaves. The part where - every minute.
-
End of second to last episode of Fullmetal Alchemist- I was just getting into the show and bam!
Yeah, any anime that did that had to be worth watching...
-
James from Team Rocket had boobies at one point.
-
Last episode of Kino's Journey. Not gonna say anymore.

Oh god THAT part....
Mine would be the entire movie of "Mind Game." Your jaw drops at early in the movie and you're too busy to pick it up because you're trying to figure out what's going on.
-
Well, I'm not sure on the "most" jawdropping thing I've seen in an anime, but I do remember my FIRST one...
I was watching "Blue Seed" episode 14 (I think); they were showing previews for the next episode and in them, the main character, who's a 15 year girl, was seen exposing her butt. At the time, this kind of thing surprised me because, well, she was 15. I thought it was weird and a little wrong, but whatever, I got over it, watched the episode, and continued to enjoy the humor/message/culture lesson from the series.

How peculiar the moray that it's acceptable to expose a toddler's butt, it is common to expose a woman's butt, yet no butt-love acceptance for teenager exposure.
-
A) It's a toddler's butt; nothing wrong with that.
B) A woman's butt being expose is for the intent of a mild sexual interest (or in this case, she was getting out of a hot spring, so it'd be logical that she'd be nude)
C) Because that's porn.
-
Speaking of butts.
Howl's butt.
I have nothing else to say.
-
???
Um, the only thing about that which makes sense to me is that Howl is from a children's animation movie. It's sort of offensive that males can have their butts exposed for the sake of humor (or whatever) in children's cartoons, but Heaven forbid if a woman is shown in any form of underwear, let alone being exposed...
-
I kind of see what your getting at. I've noticed that in cartoons when a guy gets naked, it would be considered "funny" but when a girl gets naked, it would be considered "sexual". That seems unfair because a naked man is just as sexual as a naked woman, minus the breasts...
Truthfully, i don't see anything wrong with it and i laugh weather it's a guy or a girl, depending on the situation in the cartoon.
-
I agree.
BTW, we've gotten REALLY off topic from what this thread's purpose is.
Another jaw-dropper, (probably the last one) was from Inukami; shiny bottoms...
-
Thanks Washoug for bringing it back. Another awesome moment for me was when Fushigi Yugi ended. That was QUITE the jaw dropper. "OMG IT'S FINALLY OVER!" *Jaw hangs loosely for days because I'm still in awe of that series*
-
Summer wars, just that whole movie is a trip. The effects and the idea of having a completely virtualized world like this. AMAZING. I was freaking out the entire time. Never knew someone's mind could explode so many times in 2 hours. XD
-
idk what the anime was (i was little) but the main group of ppl get transported to some evil realm or something with a pile of christmas presents that come alive and try to kill the people....the teddy bear with sharp teeth *yikes*
-
So many I don't even know ><
-
^ I know, right?
@Ichi - You're welcome!
-
A reminder, everyone...
Please put a SPOILER WARNING in your post if necessary. (Maybe put the spoiler in small text also. Sorry, we don't have a spoiler tag on the forum right now.)
-
New posts without spoiler warnings (if needed) will be removed. I have just removed one such post.
-
^ Yeah, I suppose you have a point there, Jeff...
Okay, so I guess this'll count as a spoiler alert.
There's an anime that (so far that I've seen) isn't really that popular, called "Geobreeders." Basic story: a group of humans specializes in capturing and killing Phantom Cats. (Watch it to further understand, hopefully). In the second installment, another organization, which has the same objective as the main characters, have developed a new weapon for fighting these Phantom Cats; a giant cat-lady thing. I'd guess it stand at 8 or 9 feet tall and looked kinda like a jaguar. This thing was first seen carrying the severed head of one of the Phantom Cats it had just killed. After I put my jaw back in place, I felt like applauding the beast.

PIKACHU LEARNED IRON TAIL MAN.
AFTER LIKE 3 YEARS OF TRAINING....
-
Durarara - When Anri was about to get attack by this girl/"the slasher" (i forgot her name) and than the guy she like was at the door so she chased after him and says "the others can take of you" or something like that and all these breeds of slashers appeared at the door..
BUT I guess that is more me freaking out with me going omg omg omg.. zombie moment. <_<
-
I suppose my most recent was watching the Princess Lover OVA and discovering it was hentai, unlike the TV series I thought it was a special for.
I suppose the biggest shock I can remember in an anime was the ending to episode one of Cross Game Definite WTF moment, [spoiler] followed by a cry fest [end spoiler]
Just to be mentioned. I think the biggest jaw dropping moment for me because of an animated movie was watching Don Bluth's The Secret of NIMH at the drive in when it first came out in 1982. It was so beyond any animation currently showing that it quite literally floored me. To this day I will still say that that film is what gave Disney the kick in the butt it needed to put out all of the "classic" animation that followed. For reference:
Disney - 24 December 1970 - The AristoCats
Disney - 8 November 1973 - Robin Hood
Disney - 20 December 1974 - Winnie the Pooh and Tigger Too
Disney - 22 June 1977 - The Rescuers
Disney - 3 November 1977 - Pete's Dragon
Disney/Bluth - 16 December 1978 - The Small One (Before Bluth left Disney)
Disney - 10 July 1981 - The Fox and the Hound
Bluth - 1 May 1982 - Banjo the Woodpile Cat
Disney - 9 July 1982 - TRON
Bluth - 2 July 1982 - The Secret of NIMH
Disney - 16 December 1983 - Mickey's Christmas Carol
Disney - 24 July 1985 - The Black Cauldron
Disney - 2 July 1986 - The Great Mouse Detective
Bluth - 21 November 1986 - An American Tail
Disney - 18 November 1988 - Oliver & Company
Bluth - 18 November 1988 - The Land Before Time
Disney - 17 November 1989 - The Little Mermaid
Bluth - 17 November 1989 - All Dogs Go to Heaven
Disney - 16 November 1990 - The Rescuers Down Under (First animated sequel)
Disney - 22 November 1991 - Beauty and the Beast

Bluth - 30 March 1994 - Thumbelina
Disney - 24 June 1994 - The Lion King
Bluth - 7 October 1994 - A Troll in Central Park
Bluth - 11 April 1995 - The Pebble and the Penguin
Disney - 23 June 1995 - Pocahontas
Disney - 21 June 1996 - The Hunchback of Notre Dame
Disney - 27 June 1997 - Hercules
Bluth - 21 November 1997 - Anastasia
Disney - 19 June 1998 - Mulan
Disney - 18 June 1999 - Tarzan
Disney - 31 December 1999 - Fantasia/2000

PIKACHU LEARNED IRON TAIL MAN.
AFTER LIKE 3 YEARS OF TRAINING....
... is that the name of some attack, or a dance, or,... what?
-
"Iron Tail" it was an attack
-
^ ...and I assume that "man" was NARUNIK's saying "Iron tail, man.", right?
Wait, Pikachu is an electric rat. Why would he have an attack name indicating a part of his body being made out of metal? (I'm kind of kidding with that, but I am truly puzzled as to what this move is...)
-
With Iron Tail usually the "Tail" hardens and is then smung for a bludoning effect. When Pikachu learns it he usually spins around in a circle bringing his tail about to hit the opponent. Tepending on a pokemons type they can learn moves that aren't always elemental based. Pikachu's are rewnowned for being able to learn many types of physicale attacks to augment their impressive electical skills.
-
^ That's actually kinda interesting... I think I'm going to have to YouTube it.
-
Okay holy ---- this topic was waiting for me to find it, I swear. ;)
Okay, FMA spoilers ahead . . . .
Marta and Nina's deaths really got me. Marta's was just so horrible, the way he inserted the sword and the blood was dripping through the armor . . . . That was horrible. I couldn't stop thinking about it. And I saw that episode right before I went to bed. And Nina just looked to different as a chimera. It didn't fit. It was eerie. And then when Scar came along . . . .
Kuroshitsuji spoilers ahead . . . .
Firstly, I should just say that the ending of the second season got me. I'm not sure exactly how I felt about it, but jaw dropping is definitely an accurate description. Aberline's death, too. And Madam Red's death was so sudden. It threw me off. I mean one minute, she was alive, and the next . . . .
-
spoiler aleart i guess.... Higurashi ware they took off the nails of thd twin girl... It almost made me puke
-
^ @ Nando
Seconded. I had to plug my ears, close my eyes, and curl up in a ball going, "Is it over yet? Is it over?!"
-
that was two years ago and i still find it bad.
-
the last several episodes of code geass, thats when people get the most pissed off and then there like ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh thats why that happened.
-

I was driven to profanity when I saw they didn't redo that in Brotherhood. It was such a powerful scene I couldn't believe they would change it at all.
-
Kuroshitsuji 2
-
The whole end of Wolf's Rain....man.
-
Pretty much every fight scene in Soul Eater.
I went in with expectations based on the art, somewhat ready for some cheesy, low key, rounded cartoony action stuff.
I got some of the fastest paced stuff i've seen in a long time.
-
Gunslinger Girl.
The jaw-dropping was because I was crying. Hard.
The ending scene had so much personal significance for me.
I love that show...
-
spoiler aleart i guess.... Higurashi ware they took off the nails of thd twin girl... It almost made me puke
Hmm...i've heard some pretty bad things about that show about how creepy and messed up it was, mostly that scene your talking about. I actually just looked it up on youtube and it's not even half as bad as some of the other things i've seen in other animes o.o;
Anyway, getting back on topic. Another "jaw dropping experience" i've had was when i finished Kuroshitsuji...i cried so hard i can't even believe myself ;w;
-
Ehh.. Probably when I figured out Haruhi was a girl.... I kinda fail...
-
1) The first nine minutes of Elfen Lied where she basically walks around a military base wearing nothing but a helmet, while she slaughters dozens of guards with her invisible hands.
2) In Higurashi when (SPOILER ALERT) she rips off her fingernails. That was shocking.
3) In Death Note when (SPOILER ALERT) Light regains his memories. I thought that was epic for some reason.
-
The last 4 eps of Wolf's Rain.
Season 1 ending episodes of Code Geass.
Euphi killing the Japanese
End of Evangelion
Asuka being torn apart by production models
...and Wicked City. Not something a young teenager should pick up and watch, I was 14 and I blame it for starting the warp of my psyche.
-
spoiler aleart i guess.... Higurashi ware they took off the nails of thd twin girl... It almost made me puke
Pretty much everything in Higurashi but this. o_o
Also, end of Evangelion. What the **** Shinji?! O_o
*checks again...*
Shinji what the ****?! >:(
Yeah the series was a total rollercoaster and then this happened.
-
I would have to say its either when (spoiler alert) nuriko dies in fushigi yuugi, or the very first few episodes of ghost in the shell SAC, when i first saw the major just jump off a building i was like .....wow.....
-
When I saw the *first half* of the last Black Butler (season 1) episode. My mind was blown at least... well I can't count how many times.. in less than 15 minutes. Just.. just.. BAH! :3
