Hello there~ I was wondering if there's any way the list of open mic karaoke songs could be updated? xD
I visited the karaoke room this year and was hoping to find a buncha songs I wanted to sing, but there was like, NOTHING DX
I was especially disappointed to find that there weren't a lot of recent songs on there, and I'm just getting started.
There weren't any new anime OP/EDs, which is what really got me down, though I liked how there were some Korean songs on there lol, but even then,
there should've been a lot more >3<
Is there any way we can get a karaoke song list committee started? If so, I'd be the first in line, for the committee and in the karaoke room! xD

How do you get the songs for karaoke, anyways?
I know a way to get a bunch of anime karaoke tracks, but the methods are....erm, less then legal. ^^;
Of course, these day very few anime songs are released in the US so aside from buying them off Japanese iTunes or paying expensive import fees the only way to get them is to be illegal, but still. I dunno.

I have the karaoke version to my favorite anime-based song, which I didn't see in the list of songs: Kagirinai Yokubou No Naka Ni, by Megumi Hayashibara, closing theme to Slayers: Special.

I never sing karaoke b/c I have problems reading the japanese...
There are pop songs and stuff out there that I know would be entertaning to see anime characters sing XD

Okay here's something that really made me upset. The covers on the karaoke song books were Vocaloid, but there was not a single vocaloid song in there. I will make a list of vocaloid songs that I think would be neat to have, all by Vocaloid.

i know it's an anime convention, but would it be possible to have some of the american songs on there too?

the problem ive had with karaoke is that some of the songs arent actually karaoke :/ its just a sing-along and its not indicated in the book which songs are like that.. koi no mikuru densetsu from suzumiya haruhi still has the voices in it

well since i know that you guys (the karaoke ppl's) use the anime lyrics dot com site ~click here~ (http://www.animelyrics.com/)
you guys should be pretty up to date. not sure why you aren't :/ cuz when i sang karaoke at kcon10 i srsly found about 5 or so songs that i knew. of course i had no trouble reading romanji (latin alphabet) so that was a good thing that you guys had.
but i asked the guy running the karaoke, and he said he got all the stuff off that site. if he really does, then there shouldn't be any problems. he should probably update it again.

Every year I'm shocked by how few songs there are by Ayumi Hamasaki
Ayumi is to singing as Megumi Hayashibara is to voice acting in Japan (a.k.a the goddess of anime- cause she's in eevvrryything)

A couple of weeks ago this was brought up in a conversation with a few of my friends and i thought it'd be good to mention it here. It might be kind of nice to add in some English songs into the music selection, such as Disney songs.

Back at Asian Fest several weeks back, I actually was able to contribute a bunch of VOCALOID songs, as well as some Karaoke tracks from some other animes, like Bakemonogatari, Bungaku Shoujo, and a few others I can't remember off the top of my head and whatnot. I plan to be contributing a lot more before the con begins, so I can assure you guys that by con, there WILL be a lot of VOCALOID and probably selections from other animes as well. :]
Also, the books on what karaoke tracks we have at Open Mic Karaoke haven't been updated in a while (from what I'm told by someone else), so there is a chance that the karaoke track you're looking for might be available. If you don't find it in the karaoke book, try asking the people behind the table to see for sure if we have it. :] I know that I include lyrics with every song I contribute, so there is also a chance that we have lyrics as well.

Last year there wasn't any vocaloid songs and I personally was quite disappointed.

I would love to see musical songs like popular from wicked, songs from the lion king and other musical songs because not everyone knows a bunch of anime or japanese songs. This would just be more fun seeing anime characters singing these songs.

Fourth year in a row suggesting ANYTHING by Ayumi Hamasaki (seriously... Ayumi is to J-Pop as Pokemon is to Anime) and again... NOTHING. Once more, I turn to look for songs by her, all I get is "Dearest" from Inu Yasha. Wtf?

I just brought my MP3 player for songs I didn't think they would have (Hanaji from Maria Holic, Opening from Umineko and so on) so the song selection wasn't a big deal for me, but next year it'd be nice if there was a more recent lyric database.
This karaoke room was probably my favorite from any con I've been to so far. It had a really nice setup for the lyrics screen like Sakuracon, but unlike Sakuracon there wasn't a huge wait and I was able to see a bunch of songs throughout the weekend.

last year they had "Shine" by L'arc en Ciel, and i usually sing that, but for some reason they didn't have it this year :/ even though they used the same exact website as i do and did last year. but oh well. i got lucky that i bought my PSP so i could sing a special song 8D
