Title: I Blame Kumoricon
Post by: acton on September 09, 2010, 09:25:18 pm
As I am going though my repot, I been thinking about all anime Genres Outside SF I was exposed and started to view and like because of Kumoricon.

Here is my list
Death Note -- saw first four in the viewing room in 2008, I like what I call the fallen messiah character that is if given the power of god, the person will become  corrupt with power.

Soul Eater-- given out as a fee Manga in 2008 now watching on Hulu.

Hetalia: Axis Powers -- I was in the adjacent viewing room, I wanted see what was all the fuss. I now am hooked via youtube.

Any similar experiences

Irresponsible Captain Tylor. Saw the first few episodes in a viewing room last year, and then bought the whole series. I haven't watched all of it yet, but I rarely get the TV to myself.

Azumanga Daioh, I had heard of it by name only before attending Kumoricon 2006, so I saw the chance to see it in a viewing room there and checked it out. I walked in at a very bizarre moment that, without context, left me absolutely baffled. I left the viewing room with my brain oozing out of my ears, swearing I'd never watch the show again.

Not a couple weeks later, I had bought the first volume of said anime, and loved every second of it. To the day, Azumanga Daioh is one of my favorite anime.

Thank you/I blame you, Kumoricon!

I directly blame Kumoricon for getting me into Dir en Grey.

And Tales of the Abyss.

I hadn't even considered music, but Kumoricon definitely launched me into the realm of Japanese music, too. m.o.v.e. and Moi Dix Mois I never would have found had it not been for the vendor hall of Kumoricon 2006 - and I probably wouldn't like most of what I do now had I not found out about them.

Listening to J-pop & J-rock music...would never have thought about it otherwise.
