I'm pretty sure Nyahaha and I will be doing another Vocaloid costume, but idk which one yet. We're talked about doing Kagome Kagome/Circle You Circle You but we're trying to think of a way to top Dark Woods Circus.

I was thinking of doing her for the cosplay contest next year, since I thought'd be fun to keep up with the Vocaloid theme this year, but we'll see.
Actually all of the Vocaloids at this year's contest, except for the default Kaito, were totally bro-ing it up in the green room together.

Before I make any promises, I want to make sure I can actually complete this project of mine.
It'll involve probably 2 hours of costume design, 20 hours of audio production, and 200 hours of audio recording, if my expectations are realistic.
EDIT: Looks like I should be able to do it...and yeah, probably around 100-200 hours of recording to get all the phonemes right.
So it looks like I'll be starting work on an UTAUloid vocal library. Look it up if you're unfamiliar. Essentially freeware, open-source vocaloid software. If the first one goes well I'll look into doing a second one. I already know what I plan to do with it; it's just a matter of executing and applying my plans, recording the phonemes, editing them phonemes, creating 5 or 6 sample tracks to demonstrate my UTAU's functionality in music production, commissioning an artist to render a character design (don't go volunteering; I already know who I'm going to ask), and making a cosplay for it so that I can pimp my creation at cons. XD

For 1925, and the Aku no series we're doing: me~ Kaito, Jeni~ Haku, and Taco~Miku
I have no idea the days, nor if I'll be able to make the shoot(s), but I am pretty sure Jeni and Taco will be in lesser staff positions than I and thus have more flexibility in this. We'll just have to get our outfits done earlier, and take some pre-con photos all together.

okay so this pertains to those that want to do matryoshka. I can't find the contacts needed anywhere. And the places that I found that will be do them are super spendy(but amazing quality). So either go all out and get contacts or just be cool without them and than photoshop the eyes later.

Well, Macne Coco will probably be my only cosplay. Unless I make something with pants for Sakuracon (if I go) and then get tired of wearing a skirt all the time at Kumoricon and go "FFFFFFF I need to put PANTS on!".

With the color sceem and such, I would say jeans with brown shoes/boots. It'd tie in the brown gloves and jeans go with everything anyways...
And brown working boots would look prefect and again tie in everything.
That's probably what I'm gonna do.
And also if some of the girls wanna wear skirts...Probably a jean skirt or a black skirt...

I might do what some other cosplayers did, they got the base color and then just added the extra ring through photoshop...
And I wouldn't do it if I was the only one...If anything, I'd just make my skin (mainly face) look lighter.

Well 1925 is a PV but Steampunk is just a style of clothing. So their going to make the clothes more like the steampunk style and not like their original.

Also, we need photographers for both. I know it's early but the earlier the better so hopefully we can get some steady commitment if we give them dates and times ahead of time so they know not to go do other shoots at those times on those days.

I'm in on this one! I'm going to be Haku for the group. We've got Kaito, Miku and Haku confirmed, a possible Luka, an iffy Ritsu (she wasn't able to come this past year so I have no idea if she can even make it for 2011) and my boyfriend might just join us in the style as another non-Vocaloid character just because he can.
Was Aku no mentioned yet? We're doing that, too. So much sewing for the next year!

It is a sleeveless dress with a low back and a collar.
You could make it a halter dress with the open back and the collar holding it up around your neck.
But you could also make the back like how sports bras are with the one strip of cloth that splits at the top for the 'shoulders.'

Oohhh.
From how it looks in the pictures I have seen, it could be either a strapless or a spaghetti strap. Depending on how much support you need/want is how you should make it. If you want more support, use thin straps. You could even get the 'invisible' straps used on 'strapless' bras.
In fact, that is what I recommend. I would get some of those invisible straps and make those little loops inside the dress like on bras. Then you can have the dress both strapless and with straps depending on how comfortable you feel at the time and in your surroundings.
Another thing you could do would be to attach the vest to the dress at the top hem and then you have more support from the wider shoulders.

Good luck with all of that.
But I wouldn't worry too much about finding a picture without the vest.
The only design on the dress itself will be the bow since everything else is covered. Any other designs would be pointless.
So I would just make it the strapless with the loops for invisible straps. And if you make any mistakes on the dress, most of it will be covered so no one will really know anyways. ;P

I dont really know much of anything about Vocaloid or its characters or whatever their are called. But I do love most of them. Well, mainly Miku. lol
Like I said in the pokemon topic, I am debating about crossplaying as miku. However, I'd like to know from you guys if I could pull it off well enough and not look wierd or ugly.
I have seen other males cosplay as her and while you can still easily tell they are a male, they also look good and pulled it off well.
So I just want to ask about it first.
especially considering my last crossplay didnt blow over as well as I was hoping. (but that was mainly due to the style of the outfit itself)

Thats just an edited version of Miku.
All they did was add pants over her boots and filled in her upper arm spots. And cut off the long parts of her hair.

It's really easy. I usually get RIT dye, which is fabric dye, and it has instuctions on the different ways you can prepare it....

AAHAAAHAA! those are real :P they are made of glass reflections. and holograms are real. they just haven't exactly come out in the real world market yet :P

Yeah. What they do is have a big screen over the stage (you can see it clearly in other videos) and they have a light source from the right, left, back and front. They project the colors and patterns onto the screen to produce the picture of Miku. Then they have the vocal source playing while the live orchestra plays on the other parts of the stage.
We're doing something similar in one of my classes so we actually talked about the Vocaloid show XD

Yeah. I doubt it would though. It'd have to be super popular. Then again you'd get a ton of publicity and curious non-anime fans who'd wonder what it's about. It could be an awesome way to kick off the english vocaloid programs or it could just be a huge waste of time and money.

I used iron-on reflective tape, cut into little squares =x it was really bright when people took pictures. But if you didn't want to just have reflective tape, you could wire an LED panel into the sleeves.

Well, the vest is just a simple vest. I could help you with that easily! And the "jacket" is very easy. It's just a shawl. So it's a circle piece pretty much.
And the headphones are just earmuffs, so you could probably just buy a pair somewhere.
Sage and Tofu, Lily would be good too ^^

Mic isn't needed, but it does add to the cosplay. But you can just get a cheap headset (like for Hanna Montana costumes XD) and just cut off the mouth piece and attach it to the muff.

@Kili: Don't get contacts with your eyes are kinda the right color. Good contacts can be pricey, so I would recomend saving the contacts for a cosplay if really special eyes, Like the Dead Master.

PV is a video that's been made to go along with one of the songs. So a song is created then someone makes an animation or something for it. It's sort of like and MV but MV's usually consist of really people not animations. Project Diva is a game sort of like DDR or ParaPara but strictly for Vocaloids. Where they wear different outfits than they're normal that you can choose. And they sing and dance to a song of your choice. You hit the right symbol to get points and what not.
But this isn't the best explanation for these though. Either someone else here could do better justice or looking it up would do the trick. But I did my best.

SOme people might wanna come and hang out and get to know you guys. Though I'm not gonna be vocaloid, [depends on how fast I can get the material, I only have a few months to make my costumes].
I have my TOETO set that I could wear, I suppose. I was TOETO last year though. :U
I really want DWC miku, but the hard part will be her dress. Cage, feet, fine. dress pattern? Not so much....
So we'll see.

I ran the photoshoot last year and a lot of people seemed to get excluded from things.
People just ran off and did their own things, so I don't know.
I like the idea of having a Matyroshka meet.
I don't think it would mean that anyone couldn't come,
I just think Photo's would only be for those in that theme'd cosplay.
Though, at Con there are several just random shoots around.
So instead of just having one whole shoot for VOCALOID, those
doing Matyroshka or whatever can split up and pick a time for later in the convention
to do their shoot. That kind of thing.
If anything I said made sense that is, I'm slightly drugged up from this sinus infection. x.x;

I kinda stopped updating cause everyone kept changing their minds on what they were doing... Now that Saku is over Im going to redo the front page when I get back on a laptop (yay phone?).
For the shoots I plan to find out all the pvs and chars we have and plan from smallest to biggest for shoots. Chars first, then Pvs. Then we can have fun and do the silly stuff people want at the end so if people need to leave early they can.
Also, first will be the big group photo like we took last year on the bench. :)
ALSO!!! You guys hear about Rio? Shes a Hello Kitty Vocaloid who is getting her own PSP game!! I want to toss together her outfit for a quick change since Im only doing Rook for Molly. XP

The only connection BRS has to Vocaloid is that Miku sings about her, which honestly is more than enough reason.
It's technically a PV so I don't see why that would be a problem.

Cause Rio isn't a vocaloid... She was a design concept for the Hello Kitty vocaloid but it was scrapped and a new design was made.

I think I also like the second one better simply because of the whole "Hello Kitty, Ambassador of Japanese Cute" business. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24708771/ns/travel-news/ So the kimono-ish top, the sakura on her boots, etc. She also seems a lot more futuristic, which is a big motif with the other Vocaloid outfits it seems. I think they also just didn't want to scream HELLO KITTY!!! Hahaha

yeah, i've seen ones with gray shorts with pink tights and then just the gray/brown pants. i'll probably do the shorts and tights with boots cause it seems like it would be more comfortable.

I bought his jacket at goodwill and my mom surprised me with the dog collar for him. Everything else I owned already. Molly's ex got me the boots a few years ago for my Mello, too. So I will have platform boots for him.

Oh, and the jacket is HUGE (so it covers my boobs) and is HOT. So I will be stripping most of the time when people aren't taking pictures... :/

well since it seems like vocaloid is going to have only one photoshoot and on day 1, i won't be able to go to it, since it's too early in the morning and will interfere with my cosplays for day 1 >.<

Late to the party, as usual for me. xD
My sister and I are doing almost ALL Vocaloid this year! Ohgod! We haven't decided on days yet.
We're doing Aku no Musume/Story of Evil Haku and Miku (first outfits, not maids) and we will have a Kaito around but there's a chance she might not be able to make the photoshoot.
We're also doing 1925 Miku and Haku plus a Michael Jackson tribute variation (color coded fedoras, black slacks, white button downs and suit jackets) of the same. Can you tell what Vocaloids we like? :P
I think the ones we really want to get pictures done for are Aku no, though. Those are the ones we're working on the hardest.

I figured out the problem. Apparently it was being hold b/c a company I just bought stuff from wanted to confirm the payment and such. So it works now.
So Ted wig is on it's way!!!! And then I got my red contacts that I'll use for him as well ^^ If I get bored working on Cheshire, I might start painting my clothing for him.

As for me, I've changed my Vocaloid cosplay numerous times already first Gakuko, then Akaito, then Kikaito, THEN Nigaito @.@; and I've concluded that I will be going as Rin again. That costume had a lot of work put into it; so I think it deserves a second shot. :3

Haha I'm pretty sure Vocaloid just means they were put out by Yamaha and are bought rather than just downloaded. It's like a brand, you know? It doesn't make them any less legitimate as characters, just unofficial programs.

Well we will be staying near the Red Lion Hotel. This means walking distance within a few blocks and no need for public transportation.
If you guys want a private shoot somewhere far away, be my guest. But, for the convenience of everyone it needs to be somewhere everyone can get to in a reasonable amount of time on foot.

The Red Lion is right by the river and it looks kind of industrial down there (if you look via google street), So that could be an option. I know that my cosplay would be more suited for a woodsy area though.
But the plan looks like meeting up day 0/night of day 0 to scope out places, then the actual photoshoot would be day 1. I think we should start a list of photos to be taken/groups in order. That way we have a plan and it isn't just "okay everybody get together, take a group photo, then stand around" deal.

I second this, photoshoots with this many people tend to get messy without organization.

Personally, I want to wait until closer to con for orders so we know just who everyone is and can put things in a proper order.
We start with group/bigger shots and get smaller so not everyone has to stay.
BUT, we need to know which groups are bigger and we won't know that until we get closer (A lot of people keep changing costumes or are unsure. Some people don't even post until closer to con).
My plan is take the group shot of all of us together first and then head into the bigger separate groups.
For example, if we have more default vocaloids they will go first in a group and then their separate shots.
Then the next highest (let's say matry) goes next with a group and separates.
Then Black Rock Shooter
Then DWC
And so on and so on.
This way, we keep less people around (unless they want to stay) and it's not as hectic.
Plus, the closer to con the more we know about other photoshoot times and if someone needs to get to another shoot an hour after we start, we can bump their group up in the list so they can get their photos in and run off to change.
Plus, sometimes we only have one person show up from a group and we can squish in one person deals in between the bigger ones so they don't have to wait through the whole thing.
So it would be like this-
Everyone
Group 1
Separates 1
One Person
Group 2
Separates 2
One Person
Group 3
Separates 3
etc etc

what i found about this format up until you branch into singles, gets REALLY bad towards the middle, cuz people who are closer to the end, have to leave. so my suggestion would be ALL group shots first, THEN singles for ALL the groups. because a lot of people don't have time to do single shots, ESPECIALLY when there is only one hour per group and others might have other shoots or events to go to! i lost a LOT of people at the KH photoshoots at Sakuracon as well as last years' Kumoricon, i would advice you to do all groups first, then singles, just so you won't lose people.

I actually don't think you can sell blood, just donate it. You can however sell plasma, but I've heard it hurts like a b***h and you feel really sick afterwards.
Women can also sell their own ovarian eggs but that gets into personal beliefs and taboo.

Men can sell sperm but I think you have to be a certain age for that...I'm not sure. DX
But your best bet for roommates is that thread. Make sure you know at least one person in real life who will be in the room with you. It makes things a lot more comfortable.
If people are doing bad things that are against con regulations in your room, report them and security will deal with the rest if you want to go that route. Our neighbors were giving alcohol to minors (like 16) last year and that is not okay so I reported it and everything was fine after.
As for the Vocaloid shoot, I think meeting at the park would be best.
If some of you want to meet Day 0 and scout areas that's fine but I don't know when I'm arriving so I probably won't be able to come. DX (I'm coming from WA)

@tanuki: i can cut them for you right at the con :3 i did the same thing for kori at wondernw, and it took me about 30 or so minutes to cut them (since we had to be careful to not get the bathroom dirty lol) but they came out real nice :3

I'm pretty sure I'll end up bringing a Miku costume to Kumoricon since I have so many and I probably won't have time to make anything new (at least, for Vocaloid). I'd kind of like to bring back by Stomp the Enemy Miku that I wore to Sakuracon, but some of the wiring needs fixing and since the Vocaloid shoot is during the day, I'm not sure the lights will look very good, which is what happened at Sakuracon, since the shoot was outside in the afternoon. I could probably bring Lat Miku, which is sort of my go-to Vocaloid costume.
@fleur: Nice! I'm not sure Dark is the Append voice I'd pick for that song, but I'm a big fan of Solid so I'm totally biased.

That would be fun! I haven't yet fully assessed what's wrong with it since I have to take it apart to get to most of the wiring, which wouldn't be so bad except for the putting it back together part. It'd be a shame to only wear it once, though, so I'll definitely try. And thanks! Glad you liked :3

I used Simplicity 5006, but changed it a little bit~ I made the same pattern in lining fabric and regular fabric, and sewed those together and top stitched. Also, I didn't do the grommets myself like the pattern says, the lace on the back came with the grommetted strip already attached.

BUT! I drew out a new design for my Magnet Luka which I will be doing instead of Matry Rook (Thank God) cause my Ruko burned her cosplay out of anger. And I'll have a Miku with me. :)
Her older sister is going to be Magnet Teto and my normal Mag!Miku/Matry!Ruko is making a Magnet Ruko to go with her.

O: Since Dear is originally a Miku song, I'm more inclined to say Miku, but seeing as I'm actually dressing as Aku no Musume!Miku to sing a Rayearth song, though, I can't honestly say I'm going to be dressed appropriately for my song. xD But yeah, go with whatever you feel more comfy with. C: I'd loooove to see Akaito.

Photoshoots usually last around an hour or so. Depends how long people want/can stay.

So, because the shoot is right acter opening ceramonies, I may be late. Because we are going to leave the opening ceramonies a bit eraly (If we can.) Then run over to the red line, change out of Hetalia and carefully and quickly into teto. (I say carefully because of my evil hair drills.)

There's a pretty little japanese bridge and garden near that wall and the bay.

The wig is super long and slightly wavy, I just have it braided to keep it from tangling.

I have clip in hair doo-dad-things. I bought mine.
But you could try and glue a clip onto the red and black hair doo-dads to the just clip to the wig.

o3o for my red/black clip things, I actually just constructed them out of cardboard pieces and then covered them in foamie sheets. So they're stiff. And then I just used hairpins to keep them attached to the pigtails o3o

Hi guys, new to the forum and fairly new to forums in general. I came this year as a (probably creepy) 6'6" tall home made Kaito and carried around a cooler with ice cream. :3
Only 3 days spent on the outfit and the color didn't take to my hair on the first day very well >.< Luckily the second day I was able to scrub it in fairly nicely from what I could tell and trim all the loose threads. Apparently my hair needs to have color massaged into it for it to be effective with that brand lol...
I couldn't find the meet in time because I didn't read the forum thread thoroughly enough I suppose.
Second Kumoricon for me but first time cosplaying. First time was on the last day where a friend from college invited me to use their friend's pass to get into a MTG tourney. This time Jill Valentine (LadyFiede here on the forum) and I only had time to stay the first two days, but still had a ton of fun.
Big thanks to the Ren that let me follow her around while we looked for the photoshoot pretty much completely lost lol.

I saw 2 Mekio's (but never got a picture :( ), 1 Haku (the one I don't think was at the photoshoot), and maybe 2 or 3 Luka's. Plenty of Miku like I expected, but lots of Len and Rin (often as crossplays too)
