Title: Where are volunteers welcomed?
Post by: camname21 on August 12, 2010, 10:14:47 pm
So the deadlines have past, and the managers should have all the people they need to do their job at Kumoricon.  Well what if they don't have all the people they wanted, what if they need more!  If there are people that want to volunteer and help fill in the holes where would they they go to say, "hey let me help out?"  There are a lot of different things to help out with, so who should we go talk to?  I know there was an operations room on the main floor, and there was a programing room on the creation station floor last year, but what about this year?

I was thinking I could help out friday, but last year..... ya until an hour before reg we didn't even have those main rooms set up.  What to do?

maid squad is looking for more volunteers... though you'd have to dress as a maid (your own maid outfit of your choosing)

I don't have a dress, and a butler outfit I'm not too interested in wearing sadly.  Otherwise I might have helped there ^^

I'm glad you want me, I just want to know who all I would have to talk too.  I know you might want help with setup before con.  I know where to find the yoji office when we start, just not where/who to go to before hand to see what is up.

for yoji, contact operations@kumoricon.org and they will direct you to Paul, who is our super awesome Yoji #1

for gaming staff, contact (I think) gaming@kumoricon.org or cc it to programming@kumoricon.org and Jaki'll direct it to the gaming staff!

And thank you Jeff, its nice to have a spelling fairy watching out for me ^_^ I feel special!

Also, pre-con, I might put up some requests on the forums (usually last minute) for help with various things.  I have many buttons to make.

There are usually ways folks can plug in at Creation Station, if anyone is interested. :)
Easy stuff, such as keeping art supplies organized. And getting to work on your art or fanfic contest entries while helping monitor the room is a fun way to volunteer, "if that's what you're into" <--sung in best "Flight of the Conchords" voice.

I have a friend who's interested in volunteering to help out with the Auction.  As far as I know, we'll need her help.
