Does any body know if theres going to be a guitar hero or rock band
Playing session in the gaming area of kumoricon like last year?

The two guys that ran it (and loaned their equipment for it) are not planning to return as far as I know, so it doesn't look very promising.

Would this affect the tournament or not? And what exactly is the "maybe" gonna be on? Is it just the audio/visual stuff, the peripherals or the whole shebang?

as far as I know- the whole shebang because if it was the same group who did MEWcon then they did everything.
If anyone can donate a rockband setup to use during the con we may be able to do something...course maybe I should let a gaming staffer say that officially.

I would offer my set up, but if what I heard is correct and that SetsunaEarth is still planning on being there and providing the vast array of songs... Then it might be a bit silly to offer mine since she's using a PS3 and I have a 360 set up.
This REALLY puts my plans on attending K-con on hold. The main reason I was excited about going this year was purely the Rock Band tournament and free play since that was perhaps the most fun I'd have at the convention since I first started going in 2004. Unfortunately, there's very little draw for me to show up outside of the dance and the dealer's hall... Which I can easily do on a one day pass.
Figures we find out about this with less than a month to go. >.<

confirmed at today's staff meeting: we will have a full RockBand set-up with sound equipment thanks to a couple staff members that I did not get the names of.

Is there any word on how much (if any) DLC/RBN songs there'll be? Also, xbox360 or ps3?

PS3 as far as I know. No word on DLC tho.

Alright, I'm going to attempt to answer all of the questions brought up so far in this thread:
1. We will have several hundred DLC to choose from at this year's con on a machine provided by the crew that brought RB to us last year.
2. There will be a moderated tourney with a final round hosted in Live Events.
3. Free Play Rock Band is available throughout the convention except for the times that the tourney is running.
4. Rock Band will be hosted in a section of Console Gaming as it was last year (PLEASE NOTE: We've been moved to the basement of the executive tower this year)
Hopefully this clears up any confusion you may have had :)

so the console at the convention will be a ps3 playing rockband? in the rock band playing area?
