I was thinking that maybe it would be cool to do a Spin the Bottle event.
I've never played the game before, always wanted to, and why not do it at a con?
Sure, the people you are going to kiss might be strangers but who doesn't love a good stranger?
Plus, you never know...crack pairings might be created or even flourish!
But don't fret! It's not all about kissing. ^^
We will be playing with Ramune bottles and have a few groups of people so it's not one HUGE circle and people aren't fighting over who the bottle was pointed to.
We won't be kissing if we aren't secure with it! (See rules below)
Our groups will be separated by badge colors so this way no one crosses any lines (Unless there is only a few of us. Then you WILL be watched).
Rules:
- When the bottle is spun then the person who spun can choose from four options { Hug, Peck (Cheek), Kiss (Lips), or Snog (Make-out...just keep it PG-13.) } and give the person whichever options they are comfortable with. The person it landed on then chooses the one they want from what was given.
- Your options can only go up! Meaning, if you want to Kiss someone, you can't only give them that option. You have to include everything under it so they have their comfort levels.
- If you just want to hug, just hug them. No options need to be given for this level. ^^
- You may not go above hugging to anyone who is under your badge color!

Then we just pray it's nice outside. Plus, it's a pretty open area so we have a lot of space if needed.

Ya the place a block or two down the street is a nice park, there is the square, and the waterfront. There are a few more parks here and there too, and I'm sure there are more open spaces that I just don't know where they are exactly.

It should be somewhere people would see us though so hopefully we could get more people involved.

In glomp circle you have a lot of people in the middle throwing the bottle in the air.

Glomp circles are fairly different. They are A LOT more hectic. :/ And people tend to get hurt.
I was in one two years ago and I never got glomped but they would attack the Shino that was there. Girls were chasing him around the park as he ran for his life. And it was just over all insane and quite a few people got hurt. ^^;

So I've seen Reppy, Shay, and Fate in person at the last con (even though two out of the three of them probably don't remember me) but I don't know what the rest of you guys look like. :P
So when this comes down to the day as long as you're with one of them, I'll be able to gather you up if I see you in the square when we do this. Though Fate will probably be with me already since we're rooming together.
But unless you guys post a pic or are with Shay or Reppy, then you'll have to find me.
When I finish my Sasuko outfit (which is what I will be wearing on this day), I'll show you guys the picture so you know who to look for.
If the game lasts a while and I have to run off to a shoot, if Fate isn't with me I'll leave her in charge and if she is being dragged along with me, I'll leave Reppy in charge most likely.

Just because someone is 17 and another is 18, that 18 year old is still an adult and anything sexual is illegal. So while snogging may not be sexual, just be careful. A 17 year old CAN land an 18 year old in jail.
Those 16 and under, please keep the snogging down. I'm not saying you can't but...if you are under 16 you probably shouldn't be snogging a good number of us. I can tell you right now that Reppy and Fate aren't teenagers. So just know who's around you.
If you guys want, we can get like...stickers or something with our ages so we don't have any big pedo-moments because someone looks older than they actually are. Even if we have our colored badges, they still don't say our ages and some people [/starestarestare] get their parents to buy their badges so they have total access to all con areas. Should it be those "Hello my name is" stickers and we can put our names or screen names on them? And then in a corner jot down our ages?
We can also put on there in another corner the letter S or T. Which stands for Single or Taken. Cause hey, you never know just what might blossom and we don't want to cross boundaries if someone is dating another person (Especially if that other person is with us in the circle... Cat fight anyone?).
For 18 and up I think the snog limit should be about eight-ten years difference.
I don't know about the rest of you but that's the age limit I was taught by my parents. That I can marry anyone within ten years of my age. After that it's just kinda creepy and turns into fetish stuff normally. We don't need any "Young Wife Series" going on here. :/

I like the name tag with corners for age and taken. While it almost goes to far.. info wise, some may us it to their advantage in getting a new "somebody"?? I don't know about the limit thing (but ya after so many years it's usually an emotional state/fetish that keeps them there, or so my psychology teacher told us^^)

We don't need names if you guys don't want to put them since we will have our con badges on but I would think if you want to be called something specific, then I would put it on there. So while your badge may have your name and forum ID, you might want to be called your character name or a nickname and you can write it on there. [/shrug]
But yeah, if you don't want names then you can just write your age on there. And you don't have to say if you are single or taken but it would be a good idea if you are actually taken so your other half doesn't get too angry at you.

It's an open event and anyone can come if they please.
In fact, events like these are perfect for meeting people.
My first con ever was three years ago and the only people I knew were from my old school except there was this one girl in the group who hated me because I 'stole' her part in a play. (Long story short she was a Junior who got beat out by a Freshman.) So I was pretty alone. I had even called my mom and said that cons weren't what I thought they were and I wanted to go back home. (I live in Washington so I was pretty upset I had driven around 4 hours to get to Portland only to be alone the whole time.) But she was busy so I walked outside and saw a glomp circle. I was watching people play and then another Matt (I was cosplaying Matt from Death Note) said they I should join in. I reluctantly did cause I'm not very outgoing when I don't feel welcome (which I didn't). But I ended up meeting a group of Death Note people. Now most of the people from that group hate me (People just love to hate me for some reason...~<3) but my best friend (FateChooseMe) came from meeting that group of people and joining the glomp circle.
But I think the glomp circle is a bit too violent. I felt terrible for the poor Shino that was there who kept getting attacked by everyone and chased around the park... So I figured this would be much less violent.
Plus, an event like this helped me in realizing that I was welcome at cons because everyone there is just like me and they accept me for who I am. I watched those people make fools of themselves and they still smiled and it made me feel like I belonged there. I want to help others feel the same way and so that friendships can flourish like mine did with Fate. Sure, I made about three enemies in the process but I'd rather have those three people hate me and have gained confidence in myself and a best friend than have left the con and never went to another one.
Oh dear...seems like I've done a little rant. ^^;
I tend to do that sometimes when I feel deeply about something. :P
TL;DR Everyone is welcome and you will make many friends with us! ^^

And now it's like "Oh well I'll have to see how the schedule looks for that week.."
I even tried asking him if it was possible just to shorten it from Fri-Mon .. which is only 4 days .. and I'm guaranteed at least 2 days off a week .. so .. I'm not even asking for additional time off .. just that my days off be arranged in such a way that I can have time off for an event I paid money for. >:X

The problem usually comes with asking random people for hugs. It is a complete social no no. When stepping into a new, accepting environment like this, it is hard to get past. That is why we are having a game to do EXACTLY THAT! We want everyone to learn to wub each other with open hugs.
To be honest, I'm surprised a guy didn't come up with this first. We will do anything to get close to girls some times. XD Just being there gryff will be good enough, I'm sure. Oh and guess what, I'm going to be an ANBU and will go well with your Sasuke. To bad you couldn't be in our naruto skit. ^ Well, for me, part of it is because a lack of interest. Not saying the thought never crossed my mind, I just had other things to think about (like working). It's also mainly because of not really feeling comfortable with inentionally flirting with complete strangers. I don't mind doing some fun flirting with friends of mine, or making serious swings at it if I think I have a shot, but flirting with strangers makes me feel like I'm setting myself up for something I don't wanna do, you know what I mean?

My birthday is in October so I was pissed last year that it it was one month later or I was one month earlier, I would have been an adult. I'm not really that shy. I am when I don't feel welcome but when I feel like I belong somewhere, I'm not. I'm actually a fairly perverted person but most of my friends are girls so normally all I grab is boobs (not literally...). I'm a tease and a pervert but guys are scared of me because I'm normally quiet and my thinking face apparently makes me look really, really angry. I was talking to a footballer from my old school and he said when he first saw me in class he thought I would stab him if he talked to me...
So no, I'm not shy if I feel comfortable with where I am. And if I was shy I wouldn't run around half naked at cons in outfits like Sasuko's. The less clothing for me, the better. I'm just weird like that. But I guess that's why guys are scared of me. I'm fairly Bi-Polar (not really) in how I act around groups I know and groups I don't. Like today at our team meeting for my job. I sat there silently and I even started to cry a bit because I felt like I didn't belong there. But if I was around my friends, I probably would have been the loudest person there and jumping around and spinning as if I owned the place. I just don't feel comfortable in a lot of situations unless I know for a fact I'm welcomed there and in those situations I'm really quiet and keep to myself. I don't meet people, people meet me.
As for why girls don't get hit on at cons...it's probably how the guys feel about themselves. A lot of guys think that girls wouldn't go for them because they are nerds or whatever. But what they don't realize is that that's probably the kind of guy they like. If we're at a convention, obviously we like to be around those kinds of people.
Guys are also hard on themselves on how they look. Most girls like tall and skinny or at least well toned guys. A lot of guys aren't like that and they hold it against themselves. But you gotta look at the facts. Most girls don't run around anime conventions half naked either. We aren't your normal girls so even though we may like our men to be bishounen and flashing on the televisions in front of us...that doesn't mean we won't like a guy just because he isn't exactly the Kurama or Sasuke or whoever of our dreams.
Guys are really just too hard on themselves and need to crack open the shell and give the girls a chance! We aren't normal and we like it. We don't like the normal things either. Normal is boring...
Of course, I could say the same thing for girls. I have seen quite a few decent guys at cons but I feel like I'm not worthy enough to talk to them so I don't. And if I do, I treat them the same as I treat everyone because I don't think I would ever have a chance with them. If a guy thinks hard enough, they'd realize how I treated them may seem the same but it's not. It's the same for all girls. We think we aren't worthy so we treat the guys we like the same as our friends. But if they think, they'd realize they're different. Like for me. I make eye contact more with them and try to talk to them more than everyone else around me so I can learn more about them. I am fairly subtle about it because I'm amazing like that but there's still the differences.
Guys also don't notice these things and when they see girls treating them the same they go all, "She doesn't like me more than a friend. D8" and go into the closet to grow mushrooms. The only time they notice is if a girl blatantly throws herself at him and goes, "HAVE MY BABIES NOW!!!!!!!!!!" D8<
Which is where an event like this comes into play! 8D (it all ties in!)
Girls can pick out that cute guy in the group and when that ramune bottle lands on them they can be all, "Snog or snog? ;D"
Okay, maybe not but they can ask them to pick any of the four and it will give the guy the hint that, "Hey! She's interested...!" And then if he wants, he can show interest back by choosing Kiss or Snog. Kiss would be like, "I'm unsure but you're cute and I want to get to know you better." Snog is like, "Can I get your number? Your room number that is. ;D" Or like, "Damn straight I'm interested!"
But people can also be subtle. When the bottle lands on someone you wanted it to, you react differently than if it was someone you don't. Some people jump, other's have their eyes open wide, and some smile brighter. You just gotta watch their faces. ^^

The rant took awhile to read but I definately got the gist of what was being said. xD That's kind of how I feel; plus I think quite a few girls are a little unsure on if they should even bother because of crossplay. Personally I'm not sure if crossplay makes you less interesting to guys than dressing in a female cosplay but hey it was just an observation. I can't say I'm able to empathize with you two, Gryff and Elie, though. I don't have the whole binding problem. It's actually really easy for me...which in a sense strikes my femininity right in the face but hey; it works for me!

Oh, I'm sorry it got hacked. D: That sucks so bad!!! So is the part about crying today, but no worries I feel your pain. At work it hasn't been fun for me. I have to stand up ALL DAY and get a fifteen minute break. So I hide in the bathroom sometimes, it works amazingly well for some reason. xD YEAH SHE DID SAY SHE WOULD. But never did, I don't even remember who "she" is anymore it's weird. But a zipper would probably do it. She made it, without the zipper, about the size of a five year old's clothes. I have to say, crossplaying is a slight turn off. But I think it has little to do with them looking like a guy, because they are still probably looking good in it. The problem is probably the extra effort in figuring out if they even care for guys after starting a conversation some how, and so forth.

So, I was observing the front page, and I realized that a time is not set up. I know that a looot of con stuff is [usually] going on the second day, as well as the dance in the evening. (If it will be going on this year, and -hopefully- for minors. >.<) If I could propose a time, it would be sometime in the late afternoon/evening? That way those of us who are really enjoying the game could stick around afterwards with everyone, and then those of us who wanted to could possibly go to line-up together for the dance afterwards~ :3

Ya, I'm going to be in the skit competition and will also have a rehearsal the same morning on sunday. There is also a naruto photo shoot I wouldn't mind going to, though I don't absolutely need to go. Hopefully the time will be something I'll at least be able to show up to for a few minutes.

I think it should be after the skit rehearsal in the morning and go on. A few of us will have to duck out from time to time but I have like...a roster of who to put in charge as I have to leave to do stuff. I have a Naruto photoshoot that day as well as the skits. And if the Ouran club is doing the dance, I'm a host for that so I'd have to run to change into Luka and then get in there to do that. (I still have to learn my dances, damn it! D8)

Cute is more size of body and face especially, big boobs are for cuddling, only assholes see them as you have described. (I mean past the initial thought that goes through my head :D ) As much as I like to keep my body nice, sometimes I just forget or feel too lazy without having a hygienic routine that is well engraved into my thoughts.
I like the picture, but not so much the face makeup that is not even the same color as your skin. I'm not a fan of makeup.
I am probably going to do the dance too. I'm not sure about hosting, just because of how much time to learn everything. I wanted to but they haven't even made a date to rehearse :/ I don't like trying something watching a video. Yes you will see me all over. That was from my pageant...
The make-up is my stage make up and is supposed to be for my normal skin tone but I had to get a spray-tan cause I was too pale.
So it's off when you look close but from far away it looks very normal. Blending is magical.
So that picture isn't really me at all. I mean it's my body and all but I hate wearing make-up off stage and I like my pale skin. I scrubbed my skin so hard to get the spray tan off when it was over. D8
I didn't like the fancy smancy stuff with the pageant but I loved the experience and the girls. Plus it's good scholarship money. ^^
I'd show a normal picture but I don't really have many. I have a few but I don't like how I look in them cause they were taken by my mom and I always intentionally do stuff in the picture she takes.

I can sort of relate to this. Since I've been working out and eating healthier, my body is looking nicer. And that's good; I like it. But, I worry: what if I attract the wrong type of person? I don't want to be in a situation where I'm in great shape and it's like, "Oh, where were all you girls before when I was just in decent shape?" Maybe I'm worrying about something that will never happen .. but I want to be loved and appreciated for who I am, for like .. my essence. some sort of .. spiritual thing almost. xD (yes, sappy. but, true.) And not my physical appearances. Obviously I want a person I'm with to be attracted to me. But I don't want that to be the only reason they like me.

Aww reppy, so cute of you. That is how it should be. I like to get in shape for how it makes me feel and the things I can do because of it. Finding others like that can be difficult, most are doing it for others first, or at least on equal terms. Hard to see what people are really like at an anime con. Not only do they put on a physical costume, they might act a lot differently with the drastic change in environment.

I saw the meteor shower! Where I live, you can see tons of stars, so it was awesome. I couldn't stay awake for when the peak was supposed to be, but I did see the most amazing meteor of my life. When if flashed by in the sky, it was super bright and it took a second for the trail to fade away.

Okay, in case anyone is interested in such info, I've counted 20 people who said they would go, and about 7 who might come. The numbers might be a little off, though, since I tried to only count people who clearly stated that they were coming in the first number.

You see, it depends how big we want our circles to be!
Do we want circles of 10? 15? What?
Once we decide how big of circles we want, we take how many people we have now and find the circles from that.
Then we take a percentage of people and toss in a gamble of how many people would be interested when they see it.
From that find a minimum number of how many circles we would get. Then take that number and then half of it for one and a half times the ammount.
This way, we have enough bottles for a few more circles.
And if we run out, the dealer hall always has ramune so it won't be hard to get more.
Or, we can just make the circles bigger.
But don't forget that they can't get too big. Because sooner or later people will have no idea who the bottle is pointing towards.
But if you guys have a specific size, then feel free to suggest what you think is best. ^^

As one who's played quite a few games of Spin the Bottle/Truth or Dare, I've discovered that there will always be confusion about who the bottle is pointing to, even if there's only like, 5 people. If we don't get a lot more people, and we stay at 30 people or under, I'd kinda like to just have one big circle. That way, I can hug EVERYONE! 8D
I'm also worried that if we have more than one circle, people will fight over who gets to be in the circle with reppy and Shay. xD

Well we could always just have one huge circle but people would get bored of how slow things are going.
As for fighting over who gets who, I could just monitor it.
Once we get too big and need to split, we will have a way to select teams.
We can either do circle captains who would not only monitor the circles but would choose who is in them.
Or we can have people toss their badges into a pile or something and go back and forth for the circles as I grab out the tags.
We could also do badge color circles for age groups.
There's a lot of circles we could do...

If they don't well...we'll just have to watch them and if they do anything against con rules or legal rules (like harming a minor) then we can have security escort them away. Just hope nothing gets that bad. :/

They did that last year with a little Ritsuka cosplayer because these two people had gotten stranded and he was charging a dollar for a hug and giving them all the money he made.

I have scars all over my body from my childhood. I have a fang mark on my face from a dog bite, a mark on my lip from where another dog ripped off my top lip, and a scar on my forehead from smashing my skull open.
I just don't really feel pretty and people only ever tell me I'm pretty when I have loads of makeup on for a pageant or when my mom dolls me up for school dances. So I feel like I have to cover myself up to be attractive.
And I actually am not very fit. Every woman in my family is obese and I'm the only one who isn't overweight but I'm not skinny either.
I can't wear a two-piece or anything because I feel too out of shape to be able to wear something like that.
I just overall don't feel good about myself.
And it's not your fault but I look at girls like you and Pot and I wish I could look like you do. You may not see it but you're adorable and people pretty much fawn over you because of how you look. I don't want to be praised but I just want to be in better shape and feel better about how I look.
I'm actually very aware about how I look but I know how to hide my imperfections with angles and lighting. I was taught how to stand to look skinnier and how to hold myself to appear taller but all in all it only lasts until someone sees me for me.

^This. I feel almost exactly the same. I'm a teenage girl, so, of course, to some point I obsess over my appearance. I used to be so confident and not care when I was a kid, but now as my metabolism sets in (at age sixteen, derp-a-derp ;o; ), I feel myself wanting to be skinny like the vast majority of my friends. I wouldn't say I'm jealous, but I just look up to them, even though I know it's mostly genetics since over half of them aren't fans of exercise. My mothers side is filled mostly with tall-ish, skinny people. My dad's side is filled mostly with short, chubby (in some cases more than that) people. When I was little, I looked like a tiny blonde version of my mother, which everyone commented on daily. Then I hit the age of 14 and started looking more and more like my dad's side. Which is sad, because I don't think I have worse eating habits or move around less that I did when I was little. No one says I look like mom anymore.

@Siren: I know the feeling. Even though I was adopted, when I was little I looked exactly how my (adopted) mother looked- somewhat skinny with matching brown hair and brown eyes. By age thirteen I began to look like my (adopted) father- more filled out and features not looking quite as "cute" as they used to. (I'm also short, so I look more like my (biological) grandmother- super short, and my (biological) grandfather- thicker, but not "fat", so to speak.) Genetics (and even nurturing d: ) can be a pain, sometime.

Actually, there was something in Women's Health (I believe) not too long ago about how a girl might look like a younger version of her mother, but as she ages her own, specific genes kick in and it means it isn't determined she'll look like her mother. I forget the exact science around it, but it was something like that. So, there's definitely hope thanks to modern research~ :3

I like that time! I might be late, though, ssince I'm staying at someones house somewhere in the city and I don't know how long it takes someone to get from there to Pioneer Square. ^^; I know last year I stayed in Tigard and it took me about an hour to get there. But, meh. *shrug* I'll try to wake up early. Though with my difficulty of falling asleep at places that aren't my house, I might accidently sleep in. ^^;

There isn't really enough floor space in the con to do it without security getting mad at us. I also think the majority of businesse would be pretty pissed off if you tried to hold it in their buliding. The only thing I can tihink of is someone volunterring their hotel room fro the event. They'd have to be present at all times, of course, and we'd probably have to replace the bottle with a hat filled with peoples names or something. It would also be better if there were less people than the approximately 30 we're dealing with now.
However, that's a big IF and I can understand why people wouldn't want to lend out their rooms.

Wow, everyone in here seemed so depressed about themselves a few pages back. I don't know why you put on a happy face if you don't feel that way. Do we need to slap you every time you lie to us/yourself about how you feel to put on a face you think we want? We both just need some embrace and truth. Most of you are still rather young and you will figure things out on your own later (I hope), but the sooner you stop your petty self loathing and get off your ass and do something about it, the sooner you will feel better. I don't mean to be rude, but if you want to change, you need to take some steps. The easiest one is to confide in another person, be that your parents, a long time friend, me or anyone else at the convention who you know a little and who will listen and love you. If you find someone who willingly wants to listen, and you can share ideas about anything, that is at least getting started.
Okay sorry for the late reply and bring stuff back up, just wanted to say it. So what about the ramune. Are we still thinking about doing a ramune drinking get together? The con keeps getting closer you know!

It's not self loathing. We share how we feel because there are others like us.
In case you didn't notice, a lot of us feel the same way. We said nothing about sitting on our asses all day doing nothing.
We simply stated about how we feel. I keep my body in shape because I work at it. Sure I stopped a while ago but that's because I was so busy with the pageant I didn't have time to work out. I just practiced my routines and talent, went to rehearsals, and slept. I hadn't gotten back on track until recently because I found a reason to take care of myself again.
And if you want to be a jack ass about us admitting our feelings to each other, then go do it somewhere else.
We don't need pity and we don't need you telling us to stop whining. We're not whining. We're sharing our feelings because that's what girls do when we find people we can trust with them.
And guess what, smart ass, we did find people to confide in. Each other. Not you. But the rest of us who feel like we aren't exactly the way we wish to look. So we're already on track because now each of us know there are other people out there just like us and we can talk to them about things.
Besides, the subject had already passed and you don't need to bring it back up again so you can toss in your unneeded two cents.
So sorry if I sound like a bitch but guess what? You pissed me off. So it's your own damn fault.
It's not an out of con meet up.
A few of us will be getting together on Day 0 or Day 1 to just drink together probably.

I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet. But in terms of getting turned away for a kiss, people have to understand that a lot of us are shy, including myself(only a little though. Only to the point where i wouldn't french anyone in front of anyone else xD). So just because you get turned down for a kiss, doesn't mean the other person hates you or thinks your unattractive in any way. Most of the time it's just shyness.

They had a massive glomp circle at Anime Evolution this past weekend. It lasted for HOURS!!! They even did group glomps for a while. It was fun to watch.

Group glomps can be cool but scary. At my first visit to Kumoricon I was knocked over by two group glomps. One of which knocked my wig off and the other time happened because I tripped on something and everyone FELL on me. D8

That's kind of the point of the options, wasn't it? I do still think glomps should be an option, but respect rules should be in place for that. If I do get in this, I'll be a guy in high heels, a guy who's had a back injury. I personally love gentle glomps; they're just a hug with an extra dose of happy. Options are there for pesonal comfort; it'd be totally fine if you don't wanna do the kiss option.

Er, I've been thinking about this, and I came to the realization of something. So, there will be an under eighteen group, but... what if a seventeen-/sixteen-year-old lands on, say, a twelve-/thirteen-year-old, and it's in the hug+ group? That would be... extremely awkward... >.>

You guys really don't need to be afraid of anything. If someone shoots you down, guess what? That's one less person in your count to who will take you up. It's not how many times you fail, but how many times you have found the wrong person. Wouldn't you rather be shot down for a snog with some stranger than shot down for asking a friend out? I would. Because a stranger means nothing but a friend could mean the world. Plus, from being open, your chances of gaining a friend widen immensely. Humans naturally will blossom out towards people who are open about themselves and shy away from people who close themselves off. I know this from experience. I used to be the "popular" child in my first school for K-1 because I was open and outgoing. But when my family life turned into a military life and I moved a lot, I closed myself off and people became afraid of me. I have an angry looking thinking face and people think I will bite their heads off if they talk to me because of it. Since I closed myself off, I didn't gain many friends except those brave enough to talk to me. My first con, I sat by myself and didn't really do anything because I was alone. I wasn't outgoing and it was my flaw. I almost left until one brave stranger decided to drag me into a glomp circle. There I made friends and though I'm no longer friends with any of those people anymore, I gained my best friend out of that experience. FateChooseMe has been my friend for three years now because someone cared enough to grab a total stranger who was walking by herself and drag her into a dangerous game.
So don't be like me, okay? I almost left the con and came back home in tears because I thought I wasn't accepted at K-Con. Instead, be like that stranger who dragged me into the fun. Because of her, I'm here talking to all of you, making amazing friends, and couldn't be happier. I don't have friends where I live because I was closed off my whole high school life but a simple game of glomp circle has given me the chance to make friends at K-Con and feel accepted.
So stop thinking like it's a bad thing to get shunned. Because you know what? You're trying. During that whole game of glomp circle, I wasn't glomped once. But cosplaying from the same series as me talked to me after the game. It wasn't about getting a glomp from total strangers, but about being open to the chance and making friends from the process. While Spin the Bottle seems like a smoochy-smooch, huggy-hug, make out session game, it's not. Yeah, that would be a great happening for some but it's really not needed for others. Because even if Reppy doesn't make out with all of you and Shay doesn't kiss you all on the lips, it doesn't mean that they don't want to be your friends. It just means they don't think of you in a romantic sort of way. And plus, this is the easy way of finding it out instead of being shot down to your face, right?
Now, the subject of glomps came up. The reason I didn't put glomp as an option is because I witnessed how dangerous that game can be. Like I've said before, the poor Shino in the circle was chased all around the park by just about everyone. I felt really sorry for him. And for others, they were tackled to the ground and could easily have been injured by the ruthless attacks on their person.
If you all want to include glomp as an option, I will do so but there will have to be rules in place. I know glomps are supposed to be pretty forceful, otherwise it wouldn't be a glomp. But the person must be able to continue to stand/sit upright. No one should be forced to the ground! Especially since the ground is...oh...iunno...hard! I am trained in First Aid but I really don't want to have to hold anyone's head together because of an injury due to some fangirl attack. And it goes without saying that an injury would ruin that person's day at con if not their whole experience.
Also, the same rules apply with everything else. The person has to choose that option and you can't just attack them. This gives the person the chance to get themselves ready so the chances of them falling are reduced and they feel more comfortable than being vaulted backwards randomly because they were staring at the clouds instead of paying attention to the game.
Also, for while I am here during the start of this game, I will not be participating in the event. I know, sadness all around. However! This is because I am going to be monitoring the circles that start up and making sure people follow the rules and everyone is safe. I can't stress that enough! Not only can legal matters take place but a lot of other crap can happen as well if a person gets injured because someone was being stupid. Or if a pedo happens to try to slip into the younger groups. Or whatever. So I'll be keeping an eye on badges and activity. Plus, I'll be watching behaviors of people and making sure creeps aren't stalking after someone's (shay's) lips or whatever.
So...did I forget anything?

This way, people can write their specific ages on there. Because even in the adult group, we could easily get some older adults and they don't want to be hitting on an 18 year old child. Because even if 18 is an adult, it's still creepy for someone over 30 to hit on them.

I don't think we'll have enough 12 to 14-year-olds to split them off by themselves. That being said, I don't think we'll get ANY 12-year-olds. They have to be with a parent, and most parents would not approve of their 12-year-old son/daughter going to a spin the bottle game. That, and it's not exactly the kind of event you want to bring a parent to, anyways.

Okay, so it's actually "Director" Park, and I had the wrong direction. You'll want to go up to Yamhill, which is the street you'll have to cross in order to get to Pioneer Square. Go ahead and cross it, then take a left (Westbound and against the flow of the traffic). Head in that direction 2 blocks. You'll cross Broadway and Park. The park is right there on your right.

It's a parkish area with trees and is beautiful. I don't know if there is a hard area for a bottle to spin but it would be lovely for the picnic.
It would be a good idea to have them in the same place probably if most of us will be at both events.
Actually, having them related is a good thing.
Because then we can meet the other people in the game first before going up and asking them to swap spit! ^^
And if it's the same area, people won't be likely to get lost for the event.

If you are thinking of doing this at director park, you might want to pick somewhere else. While I didn't see any posts about why we couldn't use pioneer courthouse square, I keep hearing it is being used during the convention. So due to lack of any real info, I looked it up myself. It appears some sort of LEGO Games Tour is going to be at the square. I went to their website, which unlike pioneer courthouse square's website that says it will be 9/4-6, and the lego event is suppose to be 9/3-6 AND also using Director Park along with the square. I don't know what all is going to be set up, or how much room is taken, but it is unlikely that the park is a good place anymore.
On the plus side, this lego games tour thingy should be something interesting to do in the off time. I have no idea what they are showing (other then they are advertising some new lego game you build yourself and can modify a bunch,) but it better be good to take up our space >.< Also, for those of you who like art there is Art in the Pearl happening just a few blocks north of the convention on 8th street. I went to this a few years back and it was pretty cool. It takes place in the green space between 8th and Park Ave (9th street.) Here is a link to take a look.

It was always easy to navigate and there was never that many people in there. And I was always moving around last year...
But I wouldn't say the second floor because we couldn't wait there for too long.
They are probably going to 'close off' that section to keep it clear for registration and such. And I wouldn't want to leave any pre-meet people behind.
If anything, I would suggest an area of knowledge. Such as outside one of the doors of the Hilton (like, along the wall by the street or something) or under the stairwell.

It's just like a glomp circle. They start out small and once people see what you are doing, they come to check it out and possibly join.
If it doesn't get off the ground it's not that big of a deal to me. ^^

Whenever I went down into the Lower lobby last year, it was packed. So much so that I had to tell people to move out the isles so people could walk by (it was part of my job as a yojimbo.)
The executive tower was vary open most of the convention, however.

I still think that the executive tower would be a better idea. I mean, it's indoors(we're having enough trouble as it is finding a place to play spin the bottle and it would be a huge hassle if it started raining and we had to move EVERYONE some unknown place untill it stops raining), there arn't a lot of people, and if we had to sit down we wouldn't get our cosplays all dirty.

Director park is 2 blocks west of the hotel if you follow taylor st. If we do it there, we could still use the executive tower as a backup for rain.

It's gonna be in the lower level of it, the lobby just isn't a good place to be as the whole tower isn't taken up by kcon. Depending if you have like 10-15 people the lower level might accommodate if they aren't using it for gaming purposes

The comment about having people only in the main hotel was for those with rooms. Last year they didn't give rooms to the convention go'ers first, so there were a lot of normal people having to wait on elevators and such. This year they were trying to make the main hotel just for the convention, that way we didn't hold up the regular people or get in their way. The executive tower is holding events
on multiple levels this year, so to say we are not allowed would be incorrect.
On the other note, I don't know the amount of space they have open in the lounge or if they want us hanging out there making lots of noise (or spinning an annoying bottle every few seconds for over an hour lol.) We could still use it as a backup meeting spot in case of rain, and then figure out what we wanted to do from there. I know that the executive tower has an outside patio over looking the streets on one of the lower levels. I never saw anyone out there last year, though that might be because of the rain.

Lol yes it would. Also, i just looked up pictures of waterfront park on google, also a map, and there are plenty of large places where there is no grass (it would be even better if the fountains are turned off. That area would be PERFECT :3)

Yeah Waterfront is always my 1st choice it's about 4 or 5 blocks away there is a hard surface at the fountain, and grass areas with trees. And as for the weather 10 day forecast looks pretty clear

This reminds me of something. My best friend's mom used to manage a hotel (they had Kumoricon there one year) and apparently hotels hate us. They think we're loud and obnoxious and messy and yeah.... :S

It really depends on the staff and how things go =/ and Americans really aren't the most humble and passive of people. Something might go wrong on the hotel staff side, or something could be wrong with us not being respectful, it really depends on how well we can all just get along. But defiantly we are not their normal clientele and that isn't fun for people trying to do an average day to day job

Seems like Saki is the only one who suggested Water Front, and everyone else just said they wouldn't mind walking the distance. Fountain Plaza is only two blocks away (closer, as you said), and no one has anything against it. Some people need to be closer to the hotel for other con-related activities. I mean, this isn't "Hey-I'mma-Pay-Forty-Bucks-Then-Run-Around-Portland-All-Day Convention". This is only -one- activity out of a heavily booked con day.
So, if everyone else wants this one activity to be all the way across town, so be it. If not, I strongly move to having the game at the Fountain Plaza, which is -much- closer, therefore, more time efficient. And there -is- flat ground around, as well as nature.
Gryff sees how close it is. Doesn't everyone else? Water Front isn't even on the map!

It isn't creepy. It's by all of the museums, and away from the main areas where the homeless people live. If we're in a giant group, we'll be even safer. I haven't heard of a drive-by shooting in that part of Portland before. d:

what if we all just voted, right here, right now? then majority rules. I kinda agree with roscoe, why ARE we arguing about it so much? once we're doing the actual activity, we'll be so focused on the game we won't care about what the "townies" think. For safety, being in a more public place might even be the best option. Sunday is going to be full to excess of other activities, so we DO want to be as close to convention space as we can reasonably get.
Also, the closer we are to the hotel, the more likely other con go-ers will see us having an awsome time and want to join us too ;)

Guys, chill. Really, just chill. I'm pretty sure we just decided the location since a majority of us DID just agree on Fountain Park. And that's just your opinion about the publicity thing. PERSONALLY, I wouldn't be so into being out in the middle of downtown being stared at by people because of my eccentric interests while playing this. I'm not that self conscious but that's just how I feel about it.
But anyway, from the looks of how many people gave it the thumbs up I'm 99% sure that we've decided on Fountain Park.

This is the closest place that is nice looking and comfy. (I wanted a parkish area so we aren't sitting on hard concrete and can have some nice comfy grass to cushion us. If you don't want to get your cosplay "dirty," bring a blanket to sit on.

The laptop I'm using now isn't as fast as my fingers and I have to slow down to type correctly but a lot of the time I just have to back up and retype most things.
The same thing happens with my phone because it's touch screen.

I may not like txt talk or l337 typing just as much as you guys since I was planning on being an English major but I'm not going to attack her for it.

We shouldn't. The options are set, and "glomp" was kept out for a reason. It's dangerous, and after hearing what happened to Roscoe, it's just another example of why to keep glomps out of this game. This is supposed to be a fun, low-key game. We don't want any injuries. There will be plenty of other "glomp circles" elsewhere (not necessarily on con property), but this isn't one. If you want to attend this event, please keep to the set rules. :]

Mixed feelings about this whole thing. I mean, first of all nobody showed up. Compared to the amount of people that posted in this thread only about 1/5 of the people showed up at all. Secondly, there was no direction at all. I showed up about...fifteen minutes late or so and yet nothing was happening; and even after another 30-50 minutes nothing had changed and I had missed something I wanted to go to for absolutely nothing. The only real good part of it (and this is all strictly me speaking) was that I was able to deliver a wig for sporkoon and see some cool Soul Eater cosplayers; plus free ramune was a really nice bonus.
At the same time the Hetalia cosplayers annoyed the crap out of me and we never actually played before I left...soooo yeah. Dunno what to think of this at all except basically a failure. No offense but for 50+ pages of planning this really didn't turn out all this well. I won't say it was completely bad but there weren't a lot of good things going for it unless you were good friends with the few people that actually showed up.

This meet was actually very fun, for those who were not impatient and waited, I got to meet ( and totally get close ) to some new people.
My and Gryff's lateness was due to helping someone with their cosplay and make up. ( At least it didn't take two hours this time! ) so thanks to those who waited. We informed a few people but they still seemed to act unnecessary. To the rest if you, you're awesome. We should do this next year. <3

Personally I don't think I'd call myself and Kagome "impatient" because we didn't wait more longer than that after standing around not doing much for a good while. Con only comes around once a year and there are more things to do than just stand around waiting for someone. So no offense but to people that did want to do other things besides this it was too long of a wait.

Erf. It was my fault that Gryff was late. D: My alarm didn't go off, or I forgot to set it properly. I arrived at the hotel a little bit before 12.
When we arrived at the park, everyone was chatting and hanging out. It took some coercion to get everyone to play but we did and it was I thought it was pretty fun. ^^

It's on Molly's phone and there is an 18+ version and an all ages version (Aka: Dirty and Clean versions).
We played the 18+ one over AIM and it's pretty bad. ^^;
So if we end up doing that one we have some very nice rules we decided upon together and comfort zones.

You can pass if you are uncomfortable with an action.
You can let your mind define terms used. {We have found we can be good at bending an uncomfortable request into something insane, fun, and completely unrelated by using our own definitions for things.}

That would be nice. I did this all myself last year and things got a bit hectic. I ended up having to help a friend with his makeup and detangling his wig so I was an hour late. DX I asked people to help me cause I would be late but things still were all wonky.
If you want to combine this with your singles meet I wouldn't have a problem with it.
I'm not single so I wouldn't be there for that (though I might drag my brother there... >.>). So I could possibly help you out and you can take it over with your stuff.
It might make more sense that way lol. I was single last year and I made this event as an excuse to try and get together with the guy I liked. I didn't get with that particular guy but I did get with someone and he's much better. ;P

A singles meet does not need be oriented towards hooking up with someone. It just gives people a chance to talk to other single people without having to worry about a jealous bf/gf or gaining a crush on someone you can't have.
Don't even think of it as a singles meet up if that gets you nervous. It's just a bunch of people hanging out together. ^^

Glomp circles are for glomping. Some cosplays can get very damaged from glomping and we dont want any accidents. This is more...peaceful.
Last year we had a lot of girlxgirl action and that was good entertainment for a good
majority of us. lol

While this isn't a horrible idea, we barely had enough people for a regular circle, let alone several. Besides, what about those of us who want action from both genders? And honestly, I don't really want people taking pictures. It's more of a social thing than photo op thing. Sorry to shoot down your ideas.

I would appreciate this NOT being connected to an 18+ event. This is something for everyone, not just blue badges. This isn't aiming to separate people and make them feel uncomfortable. There is nothing graphic about anything done in these circles outside of making out which you see in high school hallways anyways.

I agree with gryff, but at the same time there probably should be some kind of restriction? Yeah, it's only making out but having some thirteen or fourteen year old play spin the bottle with some 20-something (or older) person might not be such a good idea....
One suggestion would be to have a circle for people in the 15/16-17 range? or would there not be enough people to do that?

Here is a quote of part of the first post so you don't have to go to the first page. I have put the most important things in bold:
We won't be kissing if we aren't secure with it! (See rules below)
Our groups will be separated by badge colors so this way no one crosses any lines (Unless there is only a few of us. Then you WILL be watched).
Rules:
- When the bottle is spun then the person who spun can choose from four options { Hug, Peck (Cheek), Kiss (Lips), or Snog (Make-out...just keep it PG-13.) } and give the person whichever options they are comfortable with. The person it landed on then chooses the one they want from what was given.
- Your options can only go up! Meaning, if you want to Kiss someone, you can't only give them that option. You have to include everything under it so they have their comfort levels.
- If you just want to hug, just hug them. No options need to be given for this level of contact. ^^
- You may not go above hugging to anyone who is under your badge color!
