Post by: snowshoedtiger on June 06, 2010, 10:17:26 pm
Welcome to the...
Good anime series and movies suggestions topic!
Feel free to post excellent animes you've watched wither they be old, new, classic or popular.
This is for those of use who need something new to watch and want suggestions. (aka myself)
So this is how it goes...
When posting your fabulous choose of faves please make sure to include:
Full name of the anime
a rating of 1 (being bad) to 10 (being the best thing you've ever seen)
And a reason why you liked it.

The later 2 info requests aren't required but, would be much appreciated.
Thank you all for posting and reading!

Not to be rude but I could've sworn I saw a topic just like this a few weeks ago... I'll see if I can find it.

You might try looking at these.

Or, there is always this (http://chartfag.wordpress.com)

As for obscure but good anime movies:

Kappa no Coo to Natsuyasumi (http://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=5056) - This was a big surprise.  It is a very entertaining film about a kappa that gets buried in an earthquake and is revived over a hundred years later in modern day Tokyo. May disturb young children, but is OK for most audiences.

Chonnyonyeouu Yeouubi ~ aka-Yobi the Five Tailed Fox (http://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=5303) - This is another fantasy romp.  It isn't actually Japanese, but Korean.  Still It is a fun movie for the entire family about a five tailed fox spirit who lives with aliens that landed on a hill in Japan over a hundred years ago.  After one of the aliens is caught by the students of a summer school for troubled kids that is taking place at the base of her mountain, she ends up attending it, disguised as a young girl, in attempt to rescue him.  She ends up becoming one of the most popular kids at the school, and there is this one boy...

Hottarake no Shima: Haruka to Mahou no Kagami ~ aka-Oblivion Island: Haruka and the Magic Mirror (http://) - This is a CG animated piece sort of similar to Final Fantasy.  Anyway, The story is about a Middle School student named Haruka who follows a fox spirit into the realm of the Fox spirits living on Oblivion Island.  She is trying to get back a memento of her late mother.  A hand mirror.  This is the tale of her exploits.  A very entertaining romp through an imaginary world.

Summer Wars (http://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=6249) - An AI computer has hacked into the Internet and taken control of just about everything.  Not to worry, we have a teenage math genius, a computer game champion, and a number of adults with their fingers into all sorts of government and corporate pockets, all part of the family reunion taking place to celebrate grandmas B-Day.  Watch out!  When this family gets serious, nothing is impossible!
