My family isn't very religion-oriented, but we celebrate a lot of holdiays like xmas, easter, etc. Anyway, for easter this year, my mom surprised me by getting me pre-registered for kumoricon! :D
Now, this may not seem like a big deal to some of you, but my mom doesn't really get my love of dressing up and playing games in downtown portland at age 16. I think she tries, but it's a little foreign to her. Anyway, I just think that buying pre-reg for me was one of the sweetest, most thoughtful gifts i've been given. As she likes to joke,
Registration? 15 minutes.
Pre-reg? 40 bucks.
The look on my face? TOTALLY PRICELESS.
She may never see this post, but the feelings there. Thanks mom ;)

Lots of hugs, you must give. Convey your feelings to the fullest, you must. :)

lol, yoda-speak. :D

Aww, that's so sweet of her. Even though she might not understand your hobby, she still wants you to have fun :D. Be sure to give her something awesome on Mother's Day in kind!

Wicked cool. Parents may not always understand us or things we enjoy, but they are always watching out for us.
Way to go cool mom!
-
Well, that's always cool. :)
I guess I'm lucky, my mother accepts my love of anime, and even likes a good bit of it as well. In fact, last year she even dressed up and went to Kcon with me. :P
But than again, I'm also 23, so I guess that also sounds pretty pathetic. Heh.

not in the least, some of the most awsome cosplayers iv seen are parents. (like the very well done scar each year)

I'm sorry... I am trying to imagine my dad cosplaying with me at kumoricon. I am laughing too hard...
He's never really shared much interest in what I do. He does his own nerdy things.
(Like play mass effect... ALL the time....)

it took me a good 45 minutes to an hour of trying to explain the concept that not all cosplay are the same, that it IS possible to have more than one costume over the three day con, and how the mascots are chosen every year (lol, this was while she was playing world of warcraft). It gave me a new outlook to realise that some people honestly have no idea what an anime convention even is :'(

Congrats! We'll see ya at con!
