As much as I love Trigun, I'm not going to try to go see it. I have a feeling that the line for that is going to be long, and it's going to be hot and smelly -.-

Ya...I am thinking that they aren't going to show it in one of the little theaters as they do with most though. They have to know that it is going to be packed. I hope they either put it in one of the huge rooms &/or have multiple showings that are ticketed & only give out 1 ticket per person with their badge pickup. Otherwise ya, it might be a bit crowded lol.

I can tell you right now it'll be in main events. They did the same thing with the Hellsing Ultimate premiere a couple years ago

Ya, I was kinda figuring they would but sometimes you never know...sometimes these things have a way of not working out as planned :P It should be in the main room that they hold the concerts & raves in during the day...at least that would make sense to me.

OH SCHNAPPP. Anyone know what day? I think I'm only getting a daypass (probably for Saturday) so that'll decide whether I see it or not ~

At the February General Meeting, Sakura-Con announced the location of the Trigun premiere. However I am not sure whether I am at liberty to say (I don't remember whether it was the open-to-the-public part of the meeting or the closed staff-only portion) so I'll just say it's best to wait for the official schedule and announcement.

EDIT: I can say it's not in one of the dedicated automated 24-hour video rooms; it's a scheduled event in a different location.

Ah, interesting. Guess I should have said this instead: it won't be in a small room. :P

Wouldn't be able to honestly tell you too much...they weren't able to get any kind of english translation in time for con so it was a RAW Japanese showing. I don't speak Japanese myself so I was kinda bummed...gonna keep my eyes open for it when they finally have some subs made.  :'(

For those dying to know how it was;

I didn't go to the first showing, I never made it. When I found out in the bag check line that it was a
RAW japanese showing, I realized my boyfriend with me would NOT enjoy sitting staring off into space
for the whole thing... but once we got a group together and went into the 9am showing the next day
it went a little something like this;

The movie was very true to the original artwork and character design, from what I could gather with my
broken to all heck Japanese the story occured mid-series and was actually quite simple in it's arc.

All in all though, it was hilarious, different and exciting to see a beloved anime come back to life, and to
meet what I believed to be one of the directors? producers?  of the movie!

There were youth from JAPAN who flew down to Sakuracon JUST for the movie premier. They came to
other events but for the most part it was all about the movie... which was cute because at Beau's "ask me anything panel" they asked him how to get a Hot American Girlfriend.

His reply still makes me smile;

"You guys are Single Japanese Boys at an anime convention...Just pick a girl."

There english was amazing too... I was very suprised!

I made it to the Friday night showing, with the director and lead character designer (neither of whom spoke any English)... there was a short Q&A with some very basic questions, and the audience was very excited.  I wish I had thought to bring some of my DVDs to get signed.

The movie was like a lost episode, with a villain that looked a lot like Brilliant Dynamites Neon and a new chick that seemed pretty cool.  There's a lot of slapstick (which only gets funnier in a room full fans;)), and the plot really wasn't that hard to follow even without subtitles.  The animation was better than the average episode, which is great as Trigun's a bit dated now and always did suffer from some low-quality scenes.  And it was great to see the old cast.

The director was asked if there were any plans to make a Trigun Maximum series, and (of course!) he said it depended on the enthusiasm of the fans here and in Japan.

I really never expected them to get a movie off the ground for this, let alone premiere it in the US; it happens SO rarely!

Since it's a world premier, I believe the only people who have had a chance to touch the movie have been
the original team who constructed it. No one outside the studio would have had a chance to work on it. And most studios don't pay to subtitle a movie right out of the gate. They'd prefer to wait until it's gained popularity in it's main market before making that jump... and if it gets popular as a subtitled... then they'd move to dubbing. It's a long proccess... I think the magic was that they brought the world premier to the states, that was pretty epic.

According to the Sakura-con newsletter from March, they were actually working with them trying to get them but they didn't think there was time.
