Our next General Meeting will be held Sunday, February 7, at 1:30 PM in the Anderson Auditorium of the Salem Public Library. We had hoped to be on Saturday (and not on Superbowl Sunday) this time, but finding a venue within budget was more than a bit difficult.
Salem Public Library (http://www.cityofsalem.net/departments/library)
585 Liberty Street Southeast
Salem, OR 97301-3591
[Google map (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=585+Liberty+Street+Southeast,+Salem,+OR+97301-3591&sll=44.935171,-12&sspn=0.005529,0.010707&gl=us&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=585+Liberty+St+SE,+Salem,+Marion,+Oregon+97301&z=15), nearest transit: Cherriots 1 (http://www.cherriots.org/downloads/Rt01.pdf), Cherriots 8 (http://www.cherriots.org/downloads/Rt08.pdf)]
General meetings are open to the public. Meet and plan with other staff, join staff or become a volunteer, and learn about open staff positions. Bring interested friends!
As usual, the tentative schedule of meetings for the year includes both Saturdays and Sundays, so if you can't make this one, have hope!
edit: better map link

Gomen! Gomen! Gomen!
I know this is out really late and I apologize deeply to everyone who that inconveniences! It was like pulling teeth to get a good location within our price range in the Salem area! Not to mention Saturday appears to be a big get-together day, so Sunday was our only option at the Library!
Fear not Football Fans! I will have my handy dandy lappy keeping tabs of the game, as kick-off will be aproximately 3:28pm our time!

Yep, not making it to this one, as I have an obligation to play football with my brother and the kids in his neighborhood + Super Bowl.
Sorry guys =(
-
I most likely will either still be finalizing moving, unpacking the stuff I moved, or bushed from the moving process. Though I did previously have a friend in Salem who was a masseuse.....hmmmm :)
-
salem is really far for me... so i cannot go to this meeting...
-
Sorry all, Superbowl Sunday + wife's birthday. That should probably be the other way around, but I'll be pretty busy all day either way! ;D
-
I'll try to make it if I can, but Salem makes it a 4-hour drive instead of a 3-hour drive and I don't know if work will give me the day off with only a couple of weeks' notice. (No hard feelings about the delay, I'm just less than enthusiastic about the politics at work.)
-
I'd offer rides but our epic van is having engine trouble right now. :-\
-
I want to be staff at Kcon this year..but Salem is kinda far.
I'll try to go though! (Honestly I don't care about the Superbowl so that at least won't be an issue..)

sad times i have work that i cant get out of

Your boss just lost his cool status. :p
A lot of people do order pizzas for superbowl parties though so I guess it makes sense.

Too far for me, so Im gonna sit this one out
-
Well I've been sitting on the sideline for much to long now, time to throw my hat back in the ring and be active, I'm in. Plus I couldn't possibly care less about the superbowl. Coming from the MilwaukieI've got potentially 2-4 seats open
-
I kinda feel like I wanna go to this.
One of the staff I talked to *forgot his name T.T* was 16.
I'll be sixteen by then.
Grrrr.
-
That's a couple of blocks from my place. I'll most likely wonder in at some point.
-
First sunday of the month AGAIN!?? The one day of the month that i cant attend for the 3rd month in a row :(
Can we have a meeting on sat sometime if its going to be the first weekend of the month?

Yeah. We're working on it.

Saturdays tend to be uber duber busy for places like... Libraries... and...Community Halls...
But we WILL be having a meeting or two at the Hotel, and then I know for a fact that April's meeting will be on Saturday... or I will be killing some inanimate object with my teeth. *growl* I just have to wait a few.... more... days... to reserve Aprils locale... hehehe...
I personally really WANT a saturday meeting... but... life doesn't like to give the Ally what she wants... unless she takes it from life... in the dead of night... using her ninja contacts... and I am prepared to do this now!

Personally, I haven't been able to attend any meetings since KCon '09. When are we going to have one on a Saturday?
-
I'll probably be up there, but I was wondering if there was an ending time, or at least an estimate.
Also, what exactly goes on? This'll be my first time attending a General meet, ing, and the description leaves... something to be desired.

We have to be gone by 5:00, when the library closes.
The official meeting part is often only about 30 minutes, consisting of reports by the Board and select managers, and announcements made for the "Good of the Order." After that is "Break-outs," which is a long, noisy opportunity to get with people and either get work done, find work to be done, or arrange to meet later to get work done. Or just shoot the breeze.
The standard format of the meeting is Reports, Unfinished Business, New Business, Good of the Order. Since we rarely have stuff requiring a membership vote, Unfinished Business and New Business are often skipped.

The footage of the meeting is up.
