Our next General Meeting will be held Sunday, January 10, at 1:00 PM in the main (only) meeting room at the North Portland Library on North Killingsworth.
North Portland Library (http://www.multcolib.org/agcy/npo.html)
512 N Killingsworth St
Portland, OR 97217-2330
[nearest Trimet (http://ride.trimet.org/?zoom=6&pLat=698718&pLon=7646015.0&pText=512+N+Killingsworth+St), Google map (http://maps.google.com/maps?oe=utf-8&client=firefox-a&ie=UTF8&q=north+portland+library&fb=1&gl=us&hq=north+portland+library&hnear=Portland,+OR&cid=0,0,3474488694135779733&ei=6j4vS5C1HoikswPE7pDGBA&ved=0CAoQnwIwAA&ll=45.56489,-122.67158&spn=0.005528,0.00978)]
General meetings are open to the public. Meet and plan with other staff, join staff or become a volunteer, and learn about open staff positions. Bring interested friends!
Applications will be available for those looking for new opportunities, whether new to Kumoricon/Altonimbus Entertainment or exploring options for continuing contributions. Directors may or may not request applications at individual discretion.
As usual, the tentative schedule of meetings for the year includes both Saturdays and Sundays, so if you can't make this one, have hope!

My birthday is -very- close to the 10th. I was thinking of bringing down a sheet-cake (from Costco) along with some milk (need to break out my physics book and verify that a cooler filled with ice will keep it cool enough over 3 hours, but I suspect yes...). Or is food something banned by the library?
-edit-
Reading http://www.multcolib.org/services/meetingrooms.html I don't see any -hard- reason I couldn't. The room's primary use will be our meeting, at which my own personal generosity would merely be a kind of refreshment; though I do wonder if 'cake and milk' constitute 'light refreshment' or not; for the moment I'll err towards the side of yes, as it is not a complete meal, but something along the lines of 'donuts and coffee'.

I agree, but I've asked Ally to double check since we'd like to avoid confusion with our venues; it just smooths the waters for future events. If we're right, you may want to consider picking up at least the milk in (sales tax-free) Oregon ;)
Happy birthday!

I'm holding this as a place for me to put my answer; it is unfortunately to late tonight for me to call and ask so
I will have to verify that cake and milk are okay as refreshements tomorrow. Hope the answer can wait till then!
Right now, I also agree that a simple sheet cake and some milk are certainly not even on the grounds of a light
meal, but you never know how each library operates, and I have not dealt with this one previous to this meeting.
VERDICT: Yes! Cake and Milk are totally Kosher! (Well, maybe not kosher, but certainly okay!) ^_^ Just remember whats in the cake so the allergy prone around us know if it's safe or not!

-
:D glad I saw this! I'm planning to attend this meeting!

It will be a Chocolate Frosted, Chocolate Mousse filled, Chocolate Cake (and normal skim/1% milk) from Costco. I'm not sure if I can place the order while still up here in WA; it'd be much easier to grab everything down in Oregon (given when Costco and the meeting open). If I have to I'll arrange for icing things during the drive.

*chair boogies*
-
go cake! ^.^
-
I'll do my best to be there. I still need to figure out what I'll be doing for 2010. I'm not really sure I'm interested in doing gaming again.
-
But what if the cake is a lie? *ahem* Sorry- I couldn't resist ^_^. But I'll try to make it to the meeting.
-
Sadly, MEWcon ate my money, and thus, have no way to get down there.
HOWEVER, I will try to make it to the February one, provided it's not on the 21st....
-
The cake is never a lie, it's always the pie that's the lie!
Is it okay if I also bring a cake? a little one from beaverton bakery. (use to work there and loves the cakes.) And I can bring the gallon of skim milk and someone else can bring the 1% or 2%. (since the skim is what I'll be drinking) ^^
-
I will be there!
But what if the cake is a lie?
It is for me. I am vegan ;_;
-
hmm...on our first date we went to a con meeting...
-
I will be there!
Yay!! Love u!! Sit with me & Mouse! We have much to plan & forms to fill out & turn in!

YUM. Love Beaverton Bakery. Got my weddng cake from there and even just last month was able to just go sit and watch 2 decorators do some cakes(i *try* to do cakes, and wanted some tips from them). What flavor?
-
I might get to, I have to get my fav but it's too rich for most people. ^^; fudge cake with fudge filling and iceing draped with white ganache. What should I get for the other?
-
Turns out I will be there! With pants on, even!

I really enjoyed lemon poppyseed with lemon cream cheese filling. Or the tiramisu. But I vote for the lemon poppyseed first.

Yay! Pants!!
-
Looks like I won't have to bring much Pocky with all that CAKE there.
-
it seems like we need milk to go along with all that cake instead!

ZOMG is there a comic book that teaches math??/
-
...sadly, I don't know where that is from. I just had it in my meme folder :(
OH! And I will be sitting with you :D
-
That evil Lex.
got the ckaes... they don't have white ganache anymore. but got white cake with ganache filling and iceing. and a banana cake. It already broke a little on my way home. ;-; but only a little, can't even tell. both safe in garage frig now. and damn, forgot how expencive beaverton bakery is. >< Took all this months me fun money, so everyone better love the cakes! *giggles*My son might come again, not 100% sure yet though. need to see if my dad wanted to have papa and grandson time or not.
-
So...I'm in the middle of trying to figure out where to move to, & have no one to watch my cat, so...likely I'll be there only for the first hour, maybe hour & a half....hopefully long enough to fill out a staff form, maybe even some panel forms! Mouse turns out to be on call & unable to attend, btw.
When I hear the word "ganache" I want to rhyme it with "panache"...& it also makes me think of this icon of the Oregon Country Faire, "Baby Gramps," whose most famous song has a chorus that goes "Let's all be faeries, tickle tickle g'nash g'nash g'nash"
Relation to KC meeting thread: I've come in faerie cosplay to KC meetings & KC Lite:)
Which, btw, I hope we do manage to pull off this year :)
-
Hooray for being up at 7:30 to go to this!
*realizes everyone is asleep*
darnbeans =(

I'm up! Earlybirds unite!
See everybody there!
-
The cake was a success, IMO. Though Costco's 1% milk was oddly labeled.
-
i didnt have any milk.. but i did have some of the white banana cake<3 it was soo good!
-
We just saved a bunch of money on our
auto insurance POCKY by switching to Geico CAKE.
Seriously though, videos will be up in a little while. Sorry for the delay. Almost all the TV I watch has new episodes this week.
-
I got lost! T.T I meant to be there! I am so sorry! I went to central library thinking it was north portland then realized that I wouldnt be able to make it before the meeting would be over. it was a fail.... (just to clarify, i didnt realize i was at the wrong library until it was too late)
-
Fun meeting. Thanks for all the treats. Panel forms available this early, oh my!
-
Well the first batch of videos turned out to be to big for youtube. I'll slice them thinner and try again tomorrow morning. Sorry y'all.
Also the audio was super quiet this time around, I dunno why my camera wasn't picking you guys up when you were using the microphone.

Shhh, remember - there's a limit to how much silliness we can tolerate at a meeting. (^_~)
(I've long held the opinion that meetings need laughter like a drowning man needs air, but that's just me.)
-
so when is the next meeting? and where is the video?

so when is the next meeting? and where is the video?
We usually announce the weekend and location of the next meeting during the "Good of the Order" section of each meeting, and this is recorded in the minutes (http://www.kumoricon.org/forums/index.php?topic=12244.msg540625#msg540625). This time, we're looking at February 6 or 7 in Salem (probably the 7th, in spite of it being Superbowl Sunday, due to venue limitations). Details will be announced in this board (http://www.kumoricon.org/forums/index.php?board=46.0) and on the staff email list as soon as possible.
-
oh... well then yeah...
-
The videos are on their way up! As of typing this Part 1 has finished.

Sorry about the wait. At least you're not one of the people waiting to see Nikkiolie's party videos.
