I don't want this to be a political thread, more of a "Hey that has to do with
Japanese culture!" Thread... So lets not get into the debate about bowing
to Foreign leaders kay?
Historically, no president has ever bowed to a leader/ruler of another country
and while Akihito-heika may just be a figure head like the Queen of England,
it is great to see Japanese culture becoming more mainstream and understood
especially by important people isnt it?
What I find really interesting is how low he bowed! You know no one told him
to do this so he had to know to bow this low himself! Which means that he
understands some of the intricacies of Japanese culture! Isn't that cool that
people still understand those kinds of things? I often think it would be great
to go back to fuedal or 1800's era japan and witness the kind of strong and
respectful pleasantries that were once common place in that country... it's one
of the many things that draw me in to Japanese culture... the respected and
honoured traditions...
What say you guys? Do appreciate that part of the culture or find it silly?

YES! I WAS READING ABOUT THIS ON THIS NEWS PAPER WE GET AT SCHOOL!
OBAMA ALSO WANT'S TO GO TO HIROSHIMA! OH, CHINEESE GOVERNMENT WANT'S TO TAKE OVER WoW!
CRAZY STUFF HAPPENING OUT THERE!
-
I thought this was about the Chinese, and I was about to go all complaining how much the government suck, but then I saw it was Japan~
Yeah, Obama is cool. It's really good he isn't all 'AMERICAN WAY FTW' and the like. Embracing other cultures is good~
-
I will confess I've always wanted to go to Japan and have a look at it. And perhaps see if I can pick up a few books on Japanese Lore and mythology. I'd love to add aspects of that to my own fantasy writings. And I gotta' say kudos to President Obama for being so respectful.

:D
My dad went to Japan.
He was stationed there for the marines.
-
Your Dad was in the Marines NARUNIK? Well kudos to him for serving his country.
-
HE WAS GAURDING MASASHI KISHIMOTO! (Actually...I think he was placed in the same town that Masashi Kishimoto lived... Thats all.)
-
5 points to Obama for the bad-*ss-ness of Bowing to Akihito-heika
^_^
He's a lot different than anyone we've had before.
Agreed with AllyKat, the respect they used to (and still do) have, is amazing. If we had more respect, maybe people would be better off.

The picture at the top reminds me of Masashis buildings in Naruto. MASASHI IS A GREAT ARTIST!
-
NARUNIK, out of curiosity, when was your dad born?
Obama might know a bit about Japanese culture considering he grew up on Hawaii~
-
Around 1970... 1973 I think.
-
Alright, that makes sense, then~

And there's that town named Obama- I'm pretty sure that's in Japan. The Japanese sure do love them some Obama.
