Ah, I'm a slightly self-taught graphic designer as well. *points to 'M' as my picture* That used to be black and white... hmmm, I could try and find what it looked like for you if you're curious.
This is pretty old but this (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v447/wolven_queen/LiefandLeolin2copy-1.png) is something else I did. A role playing friend of mine created it (the characters) and I colored in their clothing and... made the background/grass

I have a lot more examples, I'm just too lazy to find them all and post them. :3 Your works are really pretty, by the way~
