I am very anxious for Cosplay Chess yet, sadly, I do not live in Portland (yet) or Oregon.
Thus, I have very limited opportunities to attend these chess matches.
However, I will be in Portland for Halloween weekend! Thus, I would like to set up a Halloween Chess Match!
Costumes are loved and Cosplay even more though we will accept a few non-cosplayers.
This Match will correspond with nekovamp13's Fright Town Invasion! Those of us standing outside need some form of entertainment so why not this?!
Come and join us in the fun and fancies of Chess and Halloween!
We'll work on getting prizes for the winning team. XP

I had an idea for you too, Kisitiene. If people don't start popping up, you might want to make the Kings also the Chess Masters. I've had that happen before at Cosplay Chess matches. Just a thought though. :3

She says she'll wear Eevee, if the weather isn't too cold(I doubt that). But if it's too cold, she'll be something else. Thing is, neither of us know who she should be. o.o;;
And as for my friend Jennifer, she'll be Luna Lovegood, and she'll be a Pawn on the black team. =D
EDITED: My cousin might make herself a Zydrate Junkie outfit, from 'Repo! The Genetic Opera'.

I know. Though, I just had an idea that for the players we don't have, people could bring stuffed animals/ plushies, and then when moves and attacks are made, we could just move them!
I have a giant Stitch that I could totally bring!
And I remember reading before that we were figuring out what to use for the board...
Around the Rose Quarter is all cement, so the chalk idea could work. Also, we could use masking/painters tape, so then we could just pull it all up when we're done. And since it will get darker, and I don't remember what their lighting is like there, we could use glow sticks! At least along the outside, so we don't mess them up when fighting.

I know. Though, I just had an idea that for the players we don't have, people could bring stuffed animals/ plushies, and then when moves and attacks are made, we could just move them!
I have a giant Stitch that I could totally bring!
And I remember reading before that we were figuring out what to use for the board...
Around the Rose Quarter is all cement, so the chalk idea could work. Also, we could use masking/painters tape, so then we could just pull it all up when we're done. And since it will get darker, and I don't remember what their lighting is like there, we could use glow sticks! At least along the outside, so we don't mess them up when fighting.

That just gave me an idea...since we only have one pawn as it is, maybe we could have her be another type of piece (since we still need them) and make the pawns PURELY plushies. Since it'd be more interesting to have human main pieces than have plushies be them.

Okay...this is to just get my thoughts through to everyone and I may sound a bit mean but I don't mean it that way, okay? D8 So prior disclaimer here! Yes...
I understand you guys have ideas and I love most of your ideas but I would like to set a few things in a semi-flexible stone...
For our board I want colored squares so everything is easier. I'd prefer to not have to run around and spend money on sheets of red and black paper so I would prefer to use chalk to just color in squares. However, with the use of plushies we should get paper to keep them relatively "clean." Thus, if anyone already has square sheets of red and/or black paper at home, that would be amazing! Dimensions would be about 1.5x1.5-2x2 if you guys want a lot of room. Mind you, with 2x2 our board would be 16x16 and with 1.5x1.5, 12x12. If you have smaller sheets we can tape them together to make bigger ones. I'd just rather not have anyone have to go spend money on this so we can have a board and keep plushies clean!
With the plushies, I ask that no one, and I mean no one vandalises the plushies! We are hoping that we can all trust each other with our precious plushies by offering their services to play chess. This means we do not want them to be missing an arm because you thought it was a Heartless and chopped it with your Keyblade...Heartless plushie or not...
Plushie attacks can range from sitting there looking cute and 'melting' their enemy to being thrown by their owner or those given permission to at said enemy. Please do not just pick up a plushie and chuck it unless you ask the owner first!
In this light, I ask that all Plushie's wear a necklace of some sort with the owner's name on it whether forum name or RL name, I don't care. If you don't want us to know your real name, I'll call you your forum name.
Plushies will also be used as Pokemon. How? Easy... Plushies should come with a little card that sits with them on their square with four listed moves on one or both sides. The owner or Permission holder shall choose a move, declare it, and help the plushie, if help is needed, enforce it's action. This means plushies CAN have props as long as they do not hurt anyone. We trust you all know Peace Bonding rules so...please don't make me whip out some peace bonds for your plushies...
Also, plushies do not take priority over people! I know it'd be epic to have a pawn army of plushies but if a person wants to be a pawn, I will allow it. We cant toss someone out of pawn position just because we want Axel Plushie to face Roxas Plushie in a battle of Pawn Doom. I'd like to let people choose their positions as they see fit for themselves or their characters.
If we do not fill up all the major spots by deadline, then I shall ask someone if they would like to move up in ranks.
If we do fill up all the spots we can still have our plushies if we desire! I will pair up a plushie with a person and they can use it as an attack. However, I will be getting permission from owners to let other handle their preciouses and the user must ask the owner what they can and cannot do with the plushie.
So...I hope I didn't sound mean and I hope everything is all clear and understandable, yes? Any confusion then don't be afraid to ask!

So...Possible bad news.....Talked with mom again about this, b/c she seems to have a horrible memory and can't remember me talking to her about this before.....
Anywho, she's really not liking the fact that we're doing this outside...B/c of how sick I was and stuff, and being outside in the cold, wet air of Oregon, not exactly the best...
It's probably too late to do anything, but maybe there's a chance of finding somewhere to do it inside? And then we wouldn't have to worry about lights either, or costumes/plushies getting that dirty...
I might actually head down to the Rose Quarter tomorrow or something and see what the inside is like and see if we could do it in there...

We could. But I think the only problem is the fact that we're gonna be taking a lot of room, so if we do it inside, we'd probably need permission from the secrety and owners and blah, so we can set up and do it without getting into a lot of trouble. Because, it would actually be a lot of fun if we did this at a mall. We'd have such an audience!

I'll be watchful/mindful of parents because I know that my own can get easily irked by certain types of behavior. Plus, adults are how we get our rides (well most of us) and it'd be sad if someone lost the chance to go to meetups because of bad choices. D: SO. Let's all do our best to be awesome!~ :3

I wanted to say something that I just remembered. At the last cosplay chess event I went to there was a HUGE FLAW. It was fun but all the pieces were constantly talking and I couldn't hear the Chess Masters, thus I had no idea what was really going on and when I did move I looked dumb since I went to the wrong spot.
So pretty pretty please, pieces be quiet unless you're fighting or the masters are thinking; and masters speak up! D8

Oh my gosh I'm so excited! A new friend of mine is going to, most likely, be going to Fright Town as well on Friday to meet up with me. And the ironic part is, I just found out, he's going to be doing some kind of Matt Ishida cosplay for Halloween too! xD He said he'd watch the Chess match but he doesn't wanna play, he's claustrophobic and might actually hit somebody if he was in a battle. > >;

Um... We will be having about 13 plushies in positions... If someone wants to move to a Knight they are more than welcome to since CLAP can't make it cause she's really sick...
I have some painters tape but not a lot...and I don't have a chess board. D8 I looked...a lot...
Don't forget umbrellas to keep the plushies safe! Bring jackets incase it gets really cold... And have some attacks in mind.
