yes the wig would kill you... last sakura con i saw a chibi moon with just a plain short wig (like a wisp from cosworx) and she made two "pony tails" buy putting extersions on hair clips...

Me thinks the only way to get most guys to crossplay with a skirt like the sailors is to tell them you will make it for them... And even then that might still be too much to ask for, I don't see how you girls wear skirts in the first place, if I were to wear one I'd be flipping it all over the place flashing (not purposely), that being a vary vary bad thing to do..

While we were at Sakuracon we were commenting on how he would make a better mars than what we had seen so far... so that's how we ended up in magical girl cosplays.

I have the capacity for a 100% Tuxedo Mask, or Tuxedo Melvin, by next year. The question is how will it fit into my lineup of cosplays and WILL I GET A HOTEL ROOM to store them all?
I'm still disappointed at how last con went for me, even though it turned out good in the end.

I've been thinking a lot and I really want to redo my Serenity cosplay just to make it better. It kept falling a part on me, and the wings... *shudders* need to fix those so people won't run into them >>

I went to Fabric Depot and bought an awesome material for my Super Sailor Moon leotard. It's this thin scuba like material so it's stretchy and really thick. I can wear it and not worry that my belly button or bra will show through. Whoopee!
I want to start my Kaleidoscope soon, too. Any ideas on how to make the curved handles?

As my girlfriend (cloudstrife32) and I haven't ever done a couple cosplay, and she thinks Haruka is the best thing ever, we're thinking we'll be Haruka and Michiru... we're not sure what forms yet...
My friend Irene, is going to be Sailor Mars, and I'm going to be Neptune, and I am not sure if I can convince Amy in to being the actual sailor scout of Uranus, but I'm sure gonna try :D

its very sad to say but... queen beryl is distroyed... she got totaly wrecked at kcon 09... her dress ripped. fingernails got lost. her necklace and arm band broke. ;___; AND the tiara i spent hours on snaped in half... so queen beryl is gone.
i'm not sure if i'll be randomly bringing a sailor moon cosplay or not this year. my main costumes for weekend are all planed out and arnt realy aloud to change... unless that one person doesnt wanna do that one thing...
but i still cant wait to see everyone that will be cosplaying sailor moon chars!

I'm new to this forum... and this con! (First year!) My name is Kat, but I go by Katarini or Rini as well. :}
I already have a Sailor Chibi Moon cosplay finished that I wore to SakuraCon 2010, but I'll need to buy new boots if I were to debut that one.
And I'm thinking of being Chibiusa (she's my favorite) in her school (manga-spring) uniform for Kumoricon. :}
I don't have a plan as to what else I'll be wearing or which day. I still have to make the costume as well. But Chibiusa is my absolute favorite character (besides Venus and Serenity) and I love her to death!

Also, Helios doesn't really have a horn when he's in that form, it's only when he's making a hologram of himself for Queen Nehelania that his horn appears. He has a gem in the center of his forehead in place of the horn though. :}

Tuxedo mask bailed on me at MEWcon and I blew my shot at Sakuracon.
With Kumoricon drawing near I may actually get him right this time.
If I'm wearing TuxMask and cross paths with your crew, I'll be a willing ride for Chibi usa. Strong, dashing and brave am I. Even stronger when the con rolls around, since the skit I'm in requires me to be semi well built.

If found this AWESOME scuba like material that's thick and stretchy, but I'm scared to cut it and sew it. Guidance would be most appreciated!

@lychee: i made raven out of lycra... which is kinda like spandex... or is spandex or something... you need a good zigzag stitch and you need to remember to streatch the fabric a little as you go... i recremend useing a scrap piece of fabric first

Meetups.
Just because the attendance is only a tenth of what a con would be, doesn't mean the awesomeness should be just as small.
BTW, I watched Super S last night while re-learning how to play the card game, just to see the part where Usagi and Chibi Usa bring out their Moon Scepters. Sailor Moon's should measure out to 2 1/2 or 3 feet in length, while chibi moon's would be 2 feet long. And being Tuxedo Mask, I do plan on bringing a rose or two in case someone needs a charming rescue, or a good smell to counter a gloomy day.

That's why I rescued the subbed movies from Goodwill, same with NG Evangelion.
Plus in the subbed versions they show what they thought was too much for American girls.
When I saw Super S, I witnessed Tux Mask get slammed around a few more times than in the dub. Poor me.

I think it's all up to you if you want to add the horn or not, Sam.
If you feel like taking the time to try and make it and find a way to attach it, you can.
If not, you can just leave it as is and add the dot to your forehead.
Granted, I think the dot is on his forehead, when he has the horn too, but still.

edit: i finished my summer uniform! and you asked for a picture of the fixed wig... i cafully brushed the ponytails after hey were doused in water and dryed. then i took two foam curlers around wraped the ends of the tails around them (one on each) and used a lowsetting blowdrayer to warm the wig fibers into shape. after they cooled down i took out the foam curlers and VOWALA!

Speaking of pics, I know someone who has a digital camera. I can post pics of the moon scepters in progress the next time I get the chance. Yesh Usagi, I'm spoiling the surprise and letting you see the scepters, but the real treat will be giving you and chibi usa the finished pieces.

I have a completed Sailor Saturn cosplay, (http://www.cosplay.com/costume/241350/) which I was thinking of bringing to Kumoricon '10, but I also just ordered my Mistress 9 wig today. Which to wear for the shoot, which to wear... you fellow Moonies have any preference?

Thank you! I used Violet Jacquard Neopaque on top of black boots, they have a districutor locator on their website: http://www.jacquardproducts.com/paints.php (http://www.jacquardproducts.com/paints.php). My local art store sells it, it works great. After a day of wearing Sailor Saturn, I had only a few spots rub off on the toe, which will be easy to touch up. It won't stick to patent leather, though. What kind of boots do you have?

My contacts came today, blue circle lenses for Usagi ^^ Way excited but can't try them on until I go see mom to get them cause she was the one who signed for them. She wants to take pictures of me with both the wig and contacts in <3
My nieces are entirely too excited for me, and want their own sailor costumes now. So seamstress auntie is going to make a 4 year old Sailor Venus, with her own beautiful blond hair, and a 5 year old Sailor Saturn or possibly Chibi Moon, it changes every day lol.

@chelseahavoc - My wig was from Cosworx.com, China Girl style in Black. It looks like a perfect Saturn bob in their pictures, but I still had to cut and style it myself.
@Kawaii Punk'd - Toddler scouts! That sounds adorable. My vote goes for a tiny little Saturn, just because I love Saturn.

i found a white polo shirt at goodwill. i made a sailor collar from a random tutorial that i cant find D: the stripes were made useing single fold bias tape. for the sleeve cuffs/caps/whatevertheyarecalled i tried on the shirt and measured around my arm and the sleeve and added an inch. cut two strips of fabric the width/circumfrince of my arm x the length i wanted doubled. then folded the length in two and sewed and inverted. for the stripes on the arms i used the single fold bias tape but i cut the stripes into four and zigzag stiched them on (i didnt have enough bias tape to not cut it)
for the bow i used duckcloth (which acts like sew-in interfacing in this case) and red cotton, i cut two rectangles the lengthxwidth i wanted (length doubled and folded in half and turned right side out) then srunched the middles together and tyed down with a piece of red ribbon.

I love cosplay and thankfully my family has finally accepted it, especially now that my nieces have grown up idolizing me and want their own sailor costumes.
I think if you find something you really love, and defend your right to be you, people will take you more seriously. Try it, some moms it has a profound effect, some get more strict like my mom did, but I kept at it, I sewed when I could; taught myself things and made my own costumes from what I've learned it's been a long journey from that point. I still love cosplay.

@KinkyFriedChicken - Yes, like Kawaii Punkd said, don't let other people turn you away from your passion. If it makes you happy, who cares if other people (even your parents) disagree? Mind you, I didn't start cosplaying until I was in my 20s and out of the house, but I remember as a teenager my parents constantly griped about my love of anime - Sailor Moon and Pokemon in particular. I was always drawing Sailor Moon fanart, and they wanted me to pursue more traditional art styles, such as oil painting. I still remember the day they stopped bugging me about my fanart, too... I'd drawn a picture of Eternal Sailor Pluto I was very proud of, and showed it to my sister (who loved my fanart). Without a word, she took it and showed my parents. They never bugged me about my fanart again. I think they saw how my love for the show was improving my skills in drawing.
Today, I earn my living as an artist, and my parents are always asking to see pictures of my cosplays, and have themselves become Pokemon fanatics (oh, how evilly I cackle). It might take time, but if your mother sees how happy it makes you, eventually she'll support your hobby. Even if she finds it a little weird... because let's face it, everyone's weird in their own way. ;D

Unfortunatly, I stood up to her the 15th, and got kicked out and told to support myself in everything. I stayed with a friend for a day in fears of sleeping in a park. And the next day went to my grandparents. I told my aunt about all of my cosplays and my aunt supports it fully, even cuts my wigs, gives me ideas and says "That's awesome, your gonna do great!". My mom on the other hand doesnt understand for in a way she finds shes losing me. And like I told my grandparents a day or so, she pulls me and my brother in by our umilical cords with promices of love, only to end up eating our heads off. But I agree with my mom about it being petty spendy so I'll continuewith cosplayings but I'll hold onto those cosplays and keep doing those ones instead of chosing a new cosplay every con. Thanks though! This really helped me a lot, gave someone that understands me in a way.

Oh wow! I can see how that would relate to me. But my whole family being very strong Jahovah's whitness' and seeing dressing up as something I'm not (Like my male cosplays) Makes it a horrid sin in their eyes. But like said, my aunt supports it fully. And it's good to have at least one person in the family understands.
ANYWAY to stop the whole.....durpdurp drama problems I've created. Chel....those are so epic! For my cosplay progress my aunt helped me with the crafting foam horn so it looks even better! And I found some of his....tassle thingys at Fabric Depot in the clearence bin so after I get my GED done and over with I think I'll start a little bit on Helios.

sailor moon is now 52% done! woohoo!!!! i finished the leotard, "armor", and hip roll! everything is removeable (except the hiprool has to stay attached to the skirt... but the hiproll/skirt will come off the leotard!) im so super excited to finaly cosplay sailor moon after wanting to for 13 years!

Ooo, removable! I thought about doing that, but the work involved made me cringe. The bows do come off, but the skirt, leotard, hip roll, collar and all the rest are one piece. The boots do look sweet.

Oh my Gooooood, my Mistress 9 wig came in the mail today! I am so happy. The costume is in progress - the earrings are done, and the top is in the fitting stages. I think I chose the wrong kind of fabric, but I am determined to make it work. I can't wait to start beading the pearls, I love beads. Got some $5 black pumps from Goodwill, which will probably be the first cosplay shoes that I can wear with everyday clothing.

The royal scepters are in progress. They lie in my burning forge being harnessed together by my firm, steady hands.
Going to experiment with the hand guards by making half of one for one of my Amtgard swords.
I also need to study the colors up close so I can paint them correctly.
I may also have Tux Mask enter the swimsuit contest wearing Speedo brand swim trunks.

Haven't gotten hardly any farther on Mistress 9. I finished fitting the top, but it still needs to be hemmed and have the collar added. I screwed up my first try on the collar and became discouraged... Looks like I have to get out the seam ripper yet again. Also, the sheer amount of cutting and pinning for that skirt is gonna give me nightmares.
Anyone have any ideas on a prop for Mistress 9? I'm so used to characters with weapons it would feel weird not to have a prop. I've seen some do a heart crystal or a Holy Grail. I was thinking maybe have her carry around a Silver Imperium Crystal to cackle over (there's some good crystals at my local bead shop, if a bit spendy).

Oh shiskabobs, I'm barely even 5'2. I just cosplay my favorite characters regardless of height (unless they are specifically known for being tall). Besides, given Takeuchi's long-legged art style, I don't think any of us can realistically live up to her character designs. Not without stilts.

Prince Diamond is very hot. Sailor Moon fans would be very happy. Sailor Moon R is one of my favorite seasons just for Prince Diamond and Sapphire.

Helios' crystal earrings? Can't be all that hard. There's a whole bunch of junk stores around that sell various crystals you're supposed to hang from your window. They're meant to cast rainbows on your walls when the sunlight hits them. His earrings just look like prism crystals on thin gold hoops.
I've seen a lot of cosplayers on the net use the circular one for the Silver Imperium/Imperial Crystal.
Here's what I mean, and the "comet crystals and icicle" ones were what I was thinking of. I wouldn't buy from this store since the prices are just flat out stupid expensive. http://www.sundropcrystal.com/store/index.html
There's a place in Eugene called Hirons Rx that Sells these. I think the price is a bit on the higher side, but no where near $40 per crystal. Yikes.

Also, I'm making resin casts of Super Sailor Moon's Crisis compact. I'll post pictures up here for sure to show you guys progress.
Here's a tutorial I made in two parts if you guys want to try resin casting out yourself. It's not great, and it was my first time doing that. Nevertheless, I just put a small layer of caulking on my second mold, and i think it'll work out much better.

I initially put on all the caulking at once and ended up ruining the inside of the mold because it was too thick to dry properly. This time I did a thin layer and will do a thick outside shell once everything has dried. I think it'll work out better.
My first try is almost done. I'll post a picture when it is. It's ugly and malformed, but I'm still very happy! You could potentially make the crystal earrings out of this method, but I think it'd be better just to find some crystals and do it that way. Come to think of it, Craft Warehouse has some crystally things if I remember right. At the very least it has a very unique selection of beads unlike Michaels. You might have luck that way.

As for my progress, I finished fitting and hemming Mistress 9's top, and will be attaching the last of the beads tonight. I counted, and there's over 340 on the whole outfit. Then it's time to start on the skirt... egads... I despise cutting and pinning, even more so for a giant piece of clothing. And I'll be double lining it for safety (I'm doing her white manga skirt), so that means twice the pinning and cutting! Prop-wise, I decided to go with a SIC of my own - after all, I'm doing the manga version, in which there are no heart crystals and she never steals the Grail. Picked up a Swarovski crystal (like the Bell shapes on the site lychee-twist linked) for under $20. It's so shiny! Must try not to eat it and feed on it's delicious, delicious power...
Any scout cosplayers have tips on how to make some good rolls for the gloves? I really need to remake my Saturn gloves (they look so hideous), but after three failed attempts at stuffing the rolls, I'm thinking it's time to look for a new method. I think I read about a guy who used some sort of tubing that he slid into the fabric (He had fantastic legs for Sailor Mars, btw).

I think I spent most of high school saving Sailor Moon pictures to disk. You can tell from the site that I was crap at html back then, and really like Sailor Saturn.

@tome: for my sailor moon/mars ones i used quilt batting inside a layer of fabric... but you'll probably wanna do something other then what i did seeing how they arnt the best.... i've also seen people use theouse giant plastic braclets

So I haven't started Sailor Mars yet but I have a list set up of what I'm going to need for her.
Since I haven't decided which version of her to do I'm just going to make a variety of props.
I found the words written on her paper from be first series so I'll be making the fire seals.
Then I also plan to make her fire bow and arrow set.
I'll make her wand depending on which version I choose...

@chelseahavoc - The day before I flew out for my last con, I went ALL over my town looking for plastic bangles! Not a single one to be found anywhere. I had to settle for some cheap skinny wooden bangles, which were badly painted purple and hotglued on top of the gloves. It looks atrocious. Plus, the third 'roll' on Saturn's gloves actually spikes out at the end, so that I'd probably have to do with my uber-thick interfacing underneath fabric.
The bangles did help keep the gloves from scrunching down my arms all day at con, though.

For the record, Michaels is selling some crystal pendant bead things in case any of you guys still need them. THey're not great, but hey, crystals are awesome. They were five bucks for something about an inch long. Not much selection, but they had some pretty crystal stars and I think a crystal moon.
The first layer of silicone on my new cast is already dry! It took five days for it to almost completely dry last time. Sweet!
I'm going to do small and medium sized moon casts for the earrings and boots.
Tomecko, that is a lot of beading o_O. I beaded a corset, but it wasn't anything crazy like Mistress 9.

I'll post them when they're done. If no one wants to buy, that's fine. I just don't know what I'll do with all of them. I'll write up a full description, faults and all.

Here's in progress shots. The upper two will have resin cast center gems so they match the color of the pendants. They won't be faceted either. Largely the biggest two problems with the new casts is that they cured WAAAAAY faster than the first one so they're cloudier (as is best seen by the shot with flash). Not so much on the front, but on the back there are some bubble marks that are about a half centimeter across and oblong shaped. The air didn't have a chance to escape since they dried in an three hours as opposed to the five days the first one did.
Both are hand painted, but the cloudier of the two had to have the back painted red then gold since the resin was too pale. All in all they ended up looking pretty nice, I'd say. I'm pretty proud of them.
There's a tiny bead at the end bottom of the heart in the picture, but on the smaller two pendants I'm going to leave it off since it'll probably be knocked off from cosplay fun and take some paint with it.
For the gold, I used Lumiere paint in Antique Gold. It's available at JoAnn's for about $5 a jar.Takes a few coats to get a uniform look.

@ lychee-twist - Those look fabulous, cloudy or not! If I cosplayed Sailor Moon, I'd totally buy one. And there will always be Sailor Moonies out there! I'll always have a special place in my heart for this girliest of animes, since it's that one that jumpstarted my obsession with anime, manga, and Japan in general. 13 years and still going strong!

Speaking of Mistress 9, I finished the top! Now all that's left is the skirt, and I'll be done. Unfortunately, this will mean switching the thread in my serger from black to white and I can't even imagine it without wanting to curl up in a ball and cry.

The mission to redo Saturn's glove rolls has hit some snags - turns out 1/2" tubing is too inflexible to make a complete circle, so I picked up some 3/8" tubing which works much better. Strange how Lowe's has become my second go-to spot for cosplay shopping. Sewing the actual fabric to cover the tubes has already had two spectacular failures (always remember what side your seams are going to be on, kiddos!). I plan to work on it more tonight. Thank God I have extra fabric and tubing.
I decided to start re-watching the Sailor Moon anime (yay for free online streaming!) - I was just going to start with the S Season, for Saturn & Mistress 9's storyline, but have been drawn in by the hilarious hokey crappiness of the first season. Oh, monster-of-the-week, how I've missed thee.

I had my most successful casting yet! It's as clear as the first one with only a few bubbles on the back. The color is a scarlet red interior. I'm so happy!
I bought a sewing book yesterday that teaches how to do the sailor collar. I didn't know it was there until after I bought it. How lucky was that?

Ugh, If I had a tan, I'd totally volunteer to be a Sailor Lead Crow... I love her design, but alas, I am a whitey. I'd feel like I was cheating on Saturn to do anything outside of her different transformations/alter-egos, though! My dream is to eventually make all of her costumes. She is the bestest!
It made me sad, I just found a photo on Facebook from my last con where the photographer enthusiastically labels me as Sailor Pluto. And another girl in the comments is all, "OMG best Sailor Pluto EVER," which is nice, but... I am clearly the WORST Sailor Pluto ever because I'M NOT PLUTO. And it won't let me tag myself or comment, so I can't correct her. T_T
If I ever finish my workout regime and become satisfied with my abs, I could maybe be one of the Amazoness Quartet for future villain groupings? I like Vesta and Ceres' designs. But this would only be awesome if we had all four!
@ lychee-twist - I'd love to see the sailor collar tutorial too! I use a kids' pattern for all mine (McCall's 3759), which works out alright since I'm petite, but I still feel they're a little small. Are you going to put up photos of the newest casting? I love to look at the sparklies.

Haha, I'd never thought of being Zoisite! Man, when we dissected frogs in 8th grade, that's what we named ours. I do remember shedding a tear or two when he died in the anime, though. And my friends mocked me forever for it (hey, I was 12!).
@lychee-twist - I've actually never seen any of the Live Action Sera Myu. Just googled Zoisite's design... it's so different from the anime/manga! That cape is pretty frikkin' awesomke, though.

Princess Kakyuu is kind of left field for me, but, god, I love her. She's so pretty. I really wanted to cosplay her, too, but Sailor Moon is just more appealing.
I guess the final deciding moment is Sailor Moon's wands. You just can go wrong with gold and pink heart shaped wands.

The blue and red tapered jewels are to be the feathers for sailor Moon's hair. I figured since I'm painting them it doesn't matter what color they're on the inside. The blue resin comes from a jewel I made for my friend's Princess Zelda cosplay. She needed it for the crown. small moons are for earrings and the tiara, and the larges ones go on the boots. The white dots are wooden buttons I'm going to make the hair accessories out of. The large circular object is an unpainted odango cover. The second one of those are curing. They're almost big enough to make center jewels out of for the other senshi.

The one in the bottom right corner will be the one I use if I don't make any other ones. I'm burning through this container of resin pretty fast!
I found that the cloudy broaches clear up a bit with a few coats of nail polish. At the very least it takes away from the matte finish up top to give a glossy reflection even if you can't see through it as well. I'm pretty relieved about that, actually. They look a lot better. As an added bonus, since silicone messes with resin a bit, the casts stay tacky longer. The nail polish takes care of that. It's still a good idea to wait to see if the stickiness goes down.

on a side not. my white raven cosplay fell apart on me today, now im in the process of fixing it. but if a month before con on the trial run it fals apart again then im subsituting in sailor moon for the final day. ONLY if raven is... a huge pain xD

@lychee-twist - OMG you are so industrious! Those look fantastic. I can't believe you're casting her hairpins yourself, I would have totally just cobbled them together out of Fimo or something. Which makes me think... if I can ever get into resin casting, that would be a perfect solution to my Saturn's brooch, choker, and earrings. I've been looking high and low for long, icicle-like glass beads to do her spiky crystal brooch with, but no luck! Resin might be the answer... maybe I could even commission you. @the-wind-the-sea - Yay pictures! I always adored her design, too, especially the hair... but I always thought the hat was a little silly. Maybe just 'cuz I look bad in hats. ;D
My glove roll experiment came out nicely for the first two rolls, though I had to do some improvising with nails and hot glue when the ends kept popping apart before the glue could dry. Ended up burning my finger pretty bad, too. I still have to figure out the best way to do the spike-roll on the end of Saturn's gloves... I intend to make a tutorial out of this if all goes well.

Katarini- I like the anime style the best. I think it's the most iconic Chibi Usa style. It's funny to line up the pictures of her like that. She really grew through the series! Wow!
Tomecko- I'm not entirely sure how I would cast Saturn's brooch like that. That's way more advanced from the flat brooches that Sailor Moon wears. It's an easy enough process as a whole. You can definitely make some sort of crystal cast with enough patience. Please post pictures of your sleeves, too! The white roll on Super Sailor moon is pointed, too, and I haven't figured out how to do that.

@Tomeko, yeah I like it too! That's why I'm having a hard time deciding on which to make for Kumoricon, and yes I'll be at the shoot. I really enjoyed season R and how she was super young, but I don't really want to deal with poofy sleeves. Also, my friend has the perfect backpack for Rini (the red one) that I can borrow.
@lychee- yeah, the anime style (manga drawn/version I showed) is from Season S or SuperS.
I'll wait for a couple more peoples input's before deciding.

If you've never gone, the actual Rose Garden is gorgeous when in bloom. It smells so good, too. The only problem this year is the rain is making really deformed roses. They still smell fantastic, but they're a little damaged.

Dr. Martens might have something similar to what you want. You can also try making boot covers. That would be a cheaper version for sure. Look up "Sailor Moon Boot cover tutorial" and I'm sure you can find something. You just might want to use grommets to make the laces and make a fake tongue for the boot look.
When in doubt, go to Goodwill, Buffalo Exchange, Value Village, Salvation Army, etc. Anything second hand to see if there's something you can paint or use.

I got my serenity costume!!
I tried it on the other day and all the GLUED ON sequins fell off. FML. Now onto the task of re-attaching the million sequins! Oh and it's like a foot too long on me too, easy enough to fix, but not why I bought the costume.
I also started on the daunting task of making a otaku senshi for my best friend who loves Sailor Moon as much as I do. So if you see an entirely red senshi walking with me, she's not an anrgy mars, or messed up mars, she's Sailor Rubi, her own senshi.

I would help, but i have no idea how to style wigs @_@ I was only able to repair it by snipping some hair of the ponytails and sewing/glewing it to the back ><

@lychee-twist - Oh noes! I have a similar problem with one of my wigs, I tried doing a blunt angle cut without taking into account that the wig head is smaller than my own. Now the wig mesh and my hair pokes out the bottom. I've been looking for the right color wefts to fix it. CharlotteElbourne has a good idea, if you know how to make your own wefts (I've heard bias tape and some glue are key items), you might be able to trim a bit off extra ponytails and tack them on... though it'll be a hassle to get them drawn up and blended into the stubs. But the buns might hide any problems in that area. (I'm assuming this is an Usagi wig we're talking about?)
I totally should have gotten that pencil box. Curse you, Wolf's Rain Complete Collection, for drawing me and my money away.

It should be further from the Gurren Lagann shoot, because I have to change from a man in to a very feminine chick, and doing so takes time. So... I'd say afternoon would be better for me, but you've already set before noon... I might just have to skip out on the shoot, although my Haruka and Setsuna will probably be there.

It takes a minute or 30... plus you don't want to rush someone taking off or putting on an open shirt binding, it hurts if you do it too fast ;.;

I think a garden setting would be nice like where the Pokemon photoshoot was last year. Only problem is if it rains, it'll be muddy. There's the obelisk with a concrete platform around it.

I won't be able to attend this year's kumoricon since I have no one to go with, or split costs with... And so my parent's aren't willing to let me go.

Katarini! That's bad news indeed! I'm planning on going to Sakuracon so maybe there will be a Sailor Moon photoshoot there. I normally just recycle a cosplay for that con. Kumoricon's definitely my "Must go" convention even if Sakuracon's bigger.

Only a month 'til con! AGH. I'm such a procrastinator. I finally gave up trying to brainstorm my own and picked up a pattern for M9's skirt (Thank you, Joann's Fabrics 40% off sales). So I'll be starting that today. I'll probably have to switch out Rosette, since I haven't started on her outfit, but the Sailor Moon cosplays are definitely coming.
Also finished watching all 200 episodes of the anime! Fiiiinally. It has inspired much fanart on my DA page (http://tomecko.deviantart.com/gallery/), if anyone's interested.

Okay. So I got the yellow and blue skirt stripes on. It looks aweful, but on the bright side, I think I can pleat it pretty well for a more anime style than manga style. That's what I was going for anyways so it works out.
I tried on my little Sailor Moon bloomers with the skirt pinned on it, and the length is pretty much exactly where I want it to be. It's going to be a little nerve-wrecking since I'm not used to such a short skirt, but my dance tights should cover it.
I've got gems and the second, smaller mold of the Crisis brooch curing in my garage at the moment so I'm hoping to pour them tomorrow! Yaaaay!

Also since I have a table at Artist Alley I'm going to be selling some of the crisis brooches that I've made. Some will be cheaper than others because the color is off or because, like my original mold, it's very bulky and kind of messy. If any of y'all are interested in buying one or commissioning a Sailor brooch of any color, talk to me about it.

I might have to pick your brain about commissioning a Saturn brooch, then! If it's too complex to cast as one piece, then maybe I could have you craft several smaller 'icicles' that I could string together.
And yes. curse the short skirts! I spent every trip up and down the stairs at my last con with my bag clapped over my butt so people below me couldn't see up it. And be careful when it's windy! I flashed an unfortunate group of civilians last year while walking to the convenience store, stupid windy Portland.

I built my Saturn leotard with snaps in the bottom, it keeps everything firmly in place. I do want to add some elastic to the legholes, though, so I don't have to adjust them every few minutes.

It did on a previous cosplay with underoos, I'm hoping it will do the same here. My local Joann's even had lingerie elastic, which is perfect for the job.

More progress on Mistress 9! She's almost ready for con. Sadly, even with two layers of fabric, the skirt is still too see-through for my liking. I'll be off to the fabric store tomorrow to buy another couple yards. I think I'm gonna splurge and get a satin or something... they're more opaque.

My plan is to make this the slip - the fabric also ripples across the front, since the pattern wasn't designed for stretch fabric. Getting a non-stretch fbaric means I'll have to put in a zipper, though... ugh. I hate sewing zippers.

I have figured out a great formula to making solid hip rolls and glove cuffs for Sailor Moon, I think. I haven't attached them to the fuku or the gloves yet, but it's looking surprisingly good.
I was so ready to attach the glove cuff when I realized I didn't make it wide enough to go up my elbow. Sad day.

Picked up a nice (and surprisingly cheap!) satin for M9's skirt, I decided to use the reverse side because I actually despise the abysmal shininess of satin. I regret choosing satin for my Saturn fuku. The fl;ash from digital cameras just lights you up like a shiny bonfire! The backside of the satin has a nice sheen to it, enough to make it look dressy, and so far the seams aren't sagging like the stretch fabric did.
*has to go sew the zipper in, grumble grumble snarl grumble*

Mistress 9 is doooone (http://www.cosplay.com/costume/301551/)! *collapses* The new skirt looks way better, and it now has a train! I also touched up my Saturn fuku a little last night, there were some busted seams ('cuz I didn't know when I made it that youre supposed to use a zigzag stitch on stretch fabric). Today's plan is to finish the glove rolls and permanently sew on my bows, since they're just safety pinned to the suit. Only a week left 'til con! Yeek!
Speaking of which, I left booking my room until the last minute - is anyone staying at the hotel and looking for another roomie to split costs with, or a slacker like me who hasn't booked yet and wants a room buddy? ^^; I promise I'm relatively sane and I don't snore.

Hmm... I am looking into registering for cosplay chess today but I have limited time and no home internetz... I finished fixing up my Saturn gloves (FINALLY), I'll put the progress pics together in Photoshop sometime soon (probably after con) and make a tutorial. Now that my gloves are done, I can finally do a photoshoot and get some good pics of my favorite cosplay!

That's so cute! I hope that my cosplay will be rose worthy. I got my boots done yesterday. I'm so happy with the way they turned out! It's a huge surge of motivation I need to finish this thing. I got the back bow done, too. It's a little wonky on one side, but I'm really happy with that, too.
Now I just need to fix the wig a bit and make the transparent sleeves and I'm done!

Whoa! I didn't see your Hotaru at SC! I'm looking forward to it :D
I was working at SC for operations trying to keep 'High and mighty color' and 'dazzle vision' comfortable so I didn't get to prance around much! Although I did make it to the Sailor Moon photoshoot, You didn't see me there? Well Look for me this time! I will be there! ^_^ Can't wait!
*sniff* I didn't go the the SM photo shoot cause I was at the cosplay contest.. and only saw a few skits before it ended TT ~ TT I'm sorry, I should've gone! I'm going next year for sure!! (unless I get good eats at CC...OTL) And I'm for sue coming to the SM photoshoot at KC! I've made sure of that!! (lawl cakes i dunt think you know who I am XD)

To those who were there and had hoped for a certain Tuxedo Mask to appear on the day of the shoot, I was crunched between the delay of the tech walkthrough for my skit in the cosplay contest, and my own workshop panel of which several others were excited and anxious for me to begin.
In short, I disobeyed one of the guidelines of the con: I forgot to pace myself, and tried to make it to everything at once. Sunday morning was indeed a cruncher, and I had to give up some things to resolve the others. But in the end, I managed to take home a couple purchased dolls of Sailor Moon awesomeness, and memories of the joys and hard lessons from this most epic of cons.

Wrongo. I nabbed a Sailor Moon at the dealer's hall, and traded for a Prince Darien at the Swap Meet.

Nah. Don't worry about buying and saving for me. I'm not the type to cry over something like that. I was teasing you, but I guess it got lost in translation a bit.
I should've gone to the swap meet. That sounds like it was really cool.

i totaly bought 3 jap mangas and a coffee cup.... the only reason i can read the mangas is cuz i'v read the english ones 500 times xD

I'm sorry I didn't make it to the shoot guys. (Or my Star Healer for that matter) We both woke up rather late. Her at 9:30 and me at 10. So, both decided to skip on the shoot, for obvious reasons.
For those of you who saw me, it does take two hours to get into that costume, as I didn't get down to the convention area until 12.
If anyone (other than Lychee) has pictures of me, I would be really surprised.
