I am EXTREMELY new to this section of the forums, so forgive me if this is already answered somewhere.
I am just wondering what TYPES of positions there are for staff members to do...like...Yoji's, maid squad, Info Desk....
it's really hard for me to put this into words, but basically I'm just someone who's never been staff before, I'll only be 17 for the next con, and I don't live in the Portland area....but I just really want to help out since I know you guys always need more people =[
also, I was a Prop Ninja this year. it was A LOT of fun, since I have a lot of experience in theatre, so I'm very comfortable with the "back-stage environment"
so I believe that's what I'm most interested in helping out with.

There are tons of types of positons.
Let's see:
Website Stuff
Helping run/plan mid-year events
Registration
Volunteer coordiantion
Tech
Street Team
Industry management
Forum Moderation
Running food from con suite to staff and volunteers
Office managers ...

But, new postions are sometimes created based on need. Relations had so much in the way of graphical design needs that I hired someone just to handle the workload internally, so I didn't have to keep making Publicity do all the work.

so I guess my interests fall under "special events"
anyone know what types of jobs there are just surrounding the cosplay contest?
I know there's people who direct/manage seating, prop ninja's, stage manager, and there's also assistants in the green room.
But that's all I know as far as the actual event, I'm not so sure about what they need help with in the Rehearsal time.
..I need to go look at the times for these things again...

I would be willing to do that, is there someone I need to talk to specifically about helping out with the Cosplay Contest?

We always love more help with setup and tear down. After elections, the person who will run Cosplay will be appointed. You'd talk to her ;) You'll also want to talk to the Programming Director at some point.

I was interested in volunteering for next year's Con. This will actually be my first ever! I would like to know if you have need of medical staff? I am an EMT in Oregon, can give CPR training with a card, and teach basic first aid. Thanks!

Sweet :) That would all be under Ops. This year Ops was under Robert and our current candidates for next year are Robert and Brandon.

We have a Con Suite for staff, but not an attendee Hospitality suite. Con Suite is under Ops. Contact Brandon at operations@kumoricon.org.
