I've extended the deadline for cosplay entries via email to Wednesday before convention (which I just realized is 2 Sept and NOT 26 August).
Current tally =
18 individual Costume entries
3 group costume entries
12 Skits (4 novice minor, 4 novice adult, 2 journeyman and 2 Master)
So get those entries in!!! :D
We need more skits!
-
Are we being judged for best in category and then best overall?
-
Typical set of awards =
Best Novice (minor)
Best Novice (adult)
Best Journeyman
Best Master
Best in Show
One set of above for skits and one set for costumes
Occasionally, we have additional categories which are added at the whim of the judges. It's all very scientific. :)

YES! I was afraid we were going to have to be in the waiting list! :)
Thanks a bunch, I've just sent the email. Cosplay@kumoricon.org, right?
EDIT: By the way, I've just come across a small problem. Our skit is actually much longer than the alloted time... We have five members, but the skit will be around 5 to 6 minutes. It's a pretty good skit, though; I can email the script to you if you like.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but no matter if it's a good skit or not. The audience don't really have the patience or attention span for that long. You'll start losing them after 3 mins usually. Which we learned the hard way,XP skits which is short for mini acts have to be short, simple and keep the flow going. I'm not trying to be mean or anything, this is just what we we've learned after years of doing this. and we've been pushing it with just 4 mins, so I think your going to have a real tough time with 5 or 6. But please don't get discouraged, what you could do is let others look at it/ preform it and ask them what's slow. that way by the time you go on, all your best parts will be ready for the audience to enjoy and who know maybe you'll win ^_^
Good Luck ^-^

That's the same question I was afraid to ask since my skit was going to be a couple seconds over 5 minutes. So I answered my own question and took some parts out. That way I have plenty of time for a clean, smooth, and un-rushed ending.

Aha. Gotcha.
Thanks for the advice, everyone. :) I'll be editing the script today. We were planning on re-recording anyhow.
