Title: Sugg: More Child Boards for Ride Sharing (by area + distance) Per Event
Post by: MichaelEvans on August 20, 2009, 10:50:15 pm
I would like to suggest additional child boards for the Plan Your Own Adventure Area.

Possibly something like:

Meeting Sat 08/22 - Salem
Meeting Sat 08/22 - South of Salem
Meeting Sat 08/22 - Coastal (natural divisions?)
Meeting Sat 08/22 - Astoria
Meeting Sat 08/22 - Vancouver
Meeting Sat 08/22 - Seattle / Belview
Meeting Sat 08/22 - North of Seattle
Meeting Sat 08/22 - Eastern WA & East
Meeting Sat 08/22 - Eastern OR & East

Convention 2009 - Salem
Convention 2009 - South of Salem
Convention 2009 - Coastal (natural divisions?)
Convention 2009 - Astoria
Convention 2009 - Vancouver
Convention 2009 - Seattle / Belview
Convention 2009 - North of Seattle
Convention 2009 - Eastern WA & East
Convention 2009 - Eastern OR & East

That seems like a lot of unnecessary clutter to me.  If you are looking for a ride from a certain area on a certain date, type in the search query:
"carpool [location] [date]"
or just scroll through recent posts in the Room and Ride Share child board.  Having 15 empty boards seems kind of pointless, and it's not like there's that much Ride Sharing being coordinated through the forums anyway.  If you can't find something, post something stating what you're looking for a ride to, when, and where from.

I suppose it would be easier to limit it by areas;

South, North, West, East would take less room, but be less clear.  It might work based on the context.

Purging old entries wouldn't be automatic, but it might be easier to lock/archive the old ones and bump ones that are refreshed.
