Title: Cosplay Casting Call
Post by: eerielunarose on April 28, 2005, 02:22:48 pm
Looking for your 15 (or even 30!) seconds of Cosplay fame,  but don't have a Cosplay skit? Or don't want to spend the time during con that being a Cosplay Contestant requires? (Which by the way staff are doing our best to shorten all the time...)

If you have good stage presence, and can come to a Portland General Meeting, or even a Eugene Ops meeting, staff may have a Cosplay job for you!

I am specifically looking for:

Someone with a cute cosplay costume (fluffy, frills, pink, anything works so long as you look cute and non-threatening - CCS and Chii are good examples, but other magical girls can work too: S-moon, Rayearth)

Someone with a cosplay costume that is often done  (you know what I mean, certain Yuna costumes from FF, certain Full Metal Alchemist costumes, Naruto, etc...)

Someone with a J-horror cosplay (the ideal would be Sadako from Ringu, as it is bound to be most recognizable, and it is an easy costume as long as you have the hair or a good wig)

Someone with a J-rock cosplay (Gackt, Hide, Kyo, etc)

At least a couple, recognizable non-anime cosplay costumes, they can be anything from scifi, to Pixar, to American comics ala Marvel/Dark Horse/DC, to Zim, to LOTR, to Harry Potter, whatever you like so long as it's well known.

There may be more as I develope things. Filled and/or new categories will be mentioned here.

I would like to say yes, but I'm not sure any of my costumes fit into the categories you listed. :(

I have medieval garb as well, but that's not really a costume of any particular character...

I'm interested!!  I can pretty easily attend the Portland General meetings.  Now is Haku(Naruto) common enough to work?  its my only cosplay I have currently(I am looking into making some new ones however).

What you mean by "good stage presence" exactly?  I'm not complete newbie to acting as I did take a year of drama and did a school play once, but overall, I have little experience on the stage.  And how would this affect people from taking part in the regular cosplay contest if they do this as well?

Ya just gotta be able to speak out and act "big" for the stage, is all. People have to hear and see you well throughout a large room, no back to the audience, project your voice, all that good basic stuff, plus comic timing won't hurt in some instances but I doubt it's essential as the parts should be pretty simple.

This particular thing... s'really got -nothing- to do with the Cosplay Contest, and in no way affects it, although I may give preference to people who -aren't- participating in Cosplay for lack of a group/an idea. Partly the idea is to get more people a chance on stage to show off their cosplay and, hopefully, have a little fun while they're at it.

This's on Saturday at Opening Ceremonies. Cosplay is going to be Sunday. As for the rest, for now... sore wa himitsu desu.

okay, I remember hearing about those basics.  I dun know how well I'm at them however.  I'm still interested overall and like to hear more on it.

Arlene,

You know you can count on me (stage stuff, big mouth ;)  )and I also have a whole wardrobe of Harry Potter costumes people can borrow (tons of different sizes).  I also have a lot of the other kinds of things you are looking for.  I'll let you know what I have and an idea of the sizes off line.

For costumes I have Kagome from Inuyasha, Tomoe from Rurouni Kenshin, and possibly Yuna and Chi too.  As for crossplay costumes, I'll have Neji from Naruto.  I took some theatre classes, so I'm pretty confident on stage now, and...um...what else...well, that'll do for now.

I'm pretty comfortable on stage, Eerie, so if you need more people I could always ask to borrow somebody else's cosplay. Like maybe a Harry Potter costume? ;)
