Li is a very good character, but 400 to 600 dollars...
-
If it were me, I'd probably go with the idea of making one. $400 to $600 sounds like a lot of money for a costume.

Actually, it sounds like a decent price considering other prices I've heard. :-/
But I'd agree - give making one a try. Try Hancock Fabrics - they have a marvelous selection of colors, and you can pick up some "Stitch Witchery" tape. No need for sewing! Just double the tape and iron it for longer than recommended, and it'll hold strongly enough that the fabric is more likely to rip than the seam. A day or two of work can save you a load of money.
p.s. For accessories, there's a great party/costume store in Northgate whose name I forget at the moment.

my elk costume cost around that much....I ended up making the wavemaster staff myself. But give makin it a shot, whoknows it might turn out better than the one you wanted to buy. Good luck!

that sounds like a high price, but what do i know....i only cosplayed once and i didn't even pay for it ^^

Yeah, I made it!! --__--#
Anyway, (lazy friends aside) give it a shot at making your costume. You'll save some money and learn somethings about sewing!!! ^__^

O.O how'd you do that O.O

You could put that $400-$600 dolarrs to much better use. Save it for the con! It's so much fun to make your own costume. I did for the first time last yuear and the costume came out pretty good. All the supplies for it (i.e. paint, glue, fabric) cost me maybe $50.

... Leave me alone you damn horny drunk...*wrenches free from Shadofox* Yeah, I spent about $100-150 on two costumes I made but then again I had a lot of the materials I needed at home so I saved myself a lot of money. Lok around and shop for the things you need... try Wal-Mart!! ^__^ Also Hankcock and Jo-Anne material stores have a lot of stuff as well... oh yeah, and craft stores... but try Wal-Mart forst... they're usually cheaper.

*sigh*
i would make one but... seeing that last time i was on a sewing thingey i clamped my pinky to cloth....
it was painful and it wouldent stop runing!!!
i had to rip the needle out of my way and unplug the thing
... ya so the things hate me.... -.-' pain is bad!

I don't really do commissions anymore, but I've sold a few in the $500 range and gotten comments back like, "Are you sure you changed enough?" Some costumes really have a lot of details.

O.O how'd you do that O.O[/quote]
sheets lots of them you can get a nice sheet or table cloth for about .50-.75 cents at a yard sale, that takes care of the main part then old t-shirt or pillow case for the sleaves, belts out of a brown sheet and the swords i made a from out of stuffed paper towel tubes and cover with a kinda sword sham, some times you can actuly find bolts of cloth at yard sales and that how i got the material for green link and the gold for the belt buckles, i made draw string bags out of the scrapes

I'm paying 350 for my seras victoria outfit >.< but that's only because I'm getting it done in really high quality fabric from limebarb.com
the gun is expensive too...like another 150$ >.< i better freaking LOVE this outfit ;D
and i really think you do get what you pay for....i researched and emailed alot of custom costumers to get the ones that i liked. you don't want to get a costume done by someone who doesn't know what they're doing >.<
-pb-
p.s. i've sewed every other costume that i've made...so i do love sewing, it's just that seras victoria has a complicated collar, and all those patches and things. and boots. and orange hair :D

The girls at limbarb could probably make it for you for much less. ^^ I do so admire their work. That's my dream, a cosplay site and commission store. Siiiighhh...

^^ very cool. Since I sew my own stuff, I feel like a whore for even thinking of buying from them. Hee hee. I really want to buy a replica of Tidus's Brotherhood sword. For my warrior Yuna ^^
