Greetings, Executives and Employees. As President of the Shinra Company, I Rufus Shinra would like to cordially invite you to attend my Company Tea Party, being held in honor of... well, because I feel like it. Yes, this is a company party, so Shinra employees are encouraged to attend. Special guests from outside the company are also allowed to attend; we are always looking for new allies to join us in our quest to rebuild my vast empire... I mean, this great corporation. At a date and location to be determined at a later time, there will be much drinking of tea (and if I know certain employees, a great deal of tomfoolery and silliness as well). I look forward to seeing you there!

Hey everyone! Apparently there was some interest in having a Shinra Tea Party, so I decided to make this thread to discuss ideas for such a meetup. The idea is to have a cosplay meetup involving the members of Shinra, past and present, in addition to other cosplays if you like. So far there's no date or location for the meetup, but I was thinking it may work best if it was some time in August. That way people would have more time to pull a cosplay together, and it would give us more time to plan. Also, if anyone knows a good place to have a tea party? Maybe in a real teahouse? I'm sure there are some around, I've been to one but I'm not sure exactly where it is. Anyway, if you have any ideas, feel free to speak up. At the very least, we can all swarm someone's house and bring snacks and tea... >>
Some ideas, if you're stumped:
-Sephiroth, Angeal, Zack, or Genesis from SOLDIER
-Any of the Turks, with a limit on Renos (one can only handle so many Renos at once. oo)
-President Shinra, Hojo, Scarlet, Heidegger, or Reeve (also Cait Sith, who was created by Reeve)
-Cloud, Lucrecia, Vincent Valentine (Turk or no Turk)
-Any miscellaneous employee of Shinra, or a crack cosplay (Sorry, Turk Aeris is taken. XD)

Like I said, not sure about exact date yet. It depends on a few things... Sometime in August is the best I can figure for right now. Maybe early- to mid-August, so it's not so close to the con.

Turk OCs are fine. ^^ Just make sure you come in full Turk uniform, with a jacket and dress shirt and pants. It has to at least look like one of the Turks, no jeans or colorful t-shirts, stuff like that.
Also, that brings me to another point: if we're going to be in public or a crowded place, no weapons. Some characters have big bulky weapons that would be a pain to lug around, and might freak out some non-cosplay people, so let's leave them at home.

Or we could meet at the tea place... then once everyone has had tea and run around a bit and gotten their sillies out, we can go in the Garden and take pictures and walk around, then find a park or someplace for merriment. That sound good? Kinda vague I know, but we can iron out the details when we get closer to the date.

yeah but the reason for me taking the buttons off is because my bust size is too large for it. :/ plus the collar comes up to my ears and is stiffened with starch and I cut off the sleeves so that I could finish my SnJ Sasuke from Scon this year.

So, my new Reno wig is FINISHED! Its much more flowy looking and less, well....Styled. It does this natural reno-isk thing. Its really nice. Not that gluey look at all. Which is how it came. But now all that needs to be done is finding some goggles to go with it. Ones that aren't someone elses.

Can get away with wearing no tie, not tucking in my shirt AND wearing converse. Pretty much it's as simple as going off of what Mike posted up, love. ^^ Just a black suit is pretty much okay, since Turk females don't really have different outfits than the guys. A lot of the things are really simple to find in your closet or simple enough to find over at Goodwill for around twenty dollars for the whole outfit. But if you go there, remember to look in the guy's department. :D
(Also if time allows it, don't forget zippers ;3 )

I actually have everything in my closet for a member of the Turks except the jacket. I'll be going for that, a Jenova wig (would GoodWill have wigs? ^^;;) and Laguna stuff probably this weekend. I can make a smaller version of the headplate pretty quickly... though depending on where we end up going(I forgot if it was decided) I make make a full version headplate.
Also may or may not dye the wig... I need an off white or silver one, so it's tough...

Alright, so I'm low on money (Fixed my Radiator and that set me back a bit more than I was willing to pay) and now I have no money to actually do anything but pay my cover charge into the Garden. So now its up to you, my friends. If you want your tea or food of any sort - Bring it. But I'm not absolutely sure that we can bring our own stuff into the place. So beware that there is a chance that we can't actually do the picnic there and we may have to move our space to the Rose Garden. FYI....

Hey, uh -- I see that the official "location" for this event is the Japanese Gardens, which is all well and good .. except that the Japanese Gardens have a 100% strict no-portrait-photography policy, which would mean that we wouldn't get a single photo out of the experience. I'm not sure I'm so down for paying $10 or whatever to get into a place I can't even take pictures at.
EDIT: In fact, the Chinese Gardens have a similar no-portrait-photography policy, and require a $250 fee to rent the gardens for a 1.5-hour photoshoot after the hours of public use. So, considering all that, I'd like to cast a vote for the Rose Test Gardens as our location.

I feel so dumb now. I got up early, went back and slept until 1, then scrambled a suit together, couldn't find my tuxedo mask stuff, then went up to washington park finally around 4. I couldn't remember if we were paying and meeting in the japanese gardens like the first post said or in the rose test garded, so after circling around three times for a place to park, I finally gave up and went to Lloyd center in my blue suit. Funny, I was asked twice inside EB Games and once in Dollar Tree if I worked there. So today just wasn't my day to come. Maybe the next one.

Actually yeah, waterfront park is a loooot more spacious a lot easier to find and a lot less crowded so it's easier to spot everyone. There's even a bridge to hide under in case there's shh...rain, or too much sun.
