What: A summer meetup! Gather at Uwajimaya for lunch, then go to Beaverton's Wunderland (http://www.wunderlandgames.com/locationnew.htm#BEAVERTON) nickel arcarde for funtimes. We can get to Wunderland in a couple of ways: driving, walking, or busing. Driving is easiest and fastest, but not everyone has a car. Walking would take a while. There is a bus stop about halfway between, so we can walk halfway and bus the rest of the way.
When: July 10th, 11:30

Casual cosplay works for me, but I will be going in full cosplay anyway lol (it's just a schoolgirl uniform ^^;;)

I would do casual cosplay but I can't picture any of the characters I cosplay as "casually". So I'll just casually cosplay myself.
Also what games does the Beaverton Wunderland have? I usually only go to the Avalon for Dance Maniax.

And Panic Park, and hours and hours of every version of Time Crisis.
Also if this goes down after July 13th, my college starts up again so I won't be available Tuesday-Thursday.

They also House of The Dead 4 too. I miss the DDR machine there. It was my religion, my passion, and my joy =(. I love Panic Park! The only game where you can be be a jerk after you die.

I'd watch out for scheduling too far in the future. Wunderland's not faring well; they will likely be closing one of their locations within the next few months, and the Beaverton Wunderland is certainly a candidate for that.
I'll check their list of games. If they do still have Panic Park, Air Hockey, and at least one other decent game when this rolls around, I might join in on this.
mattstotts46, if you're into DDR, we should meet up at Ground Kontrol some time! My primary drive to continue playing the game is from the people I meet playing it, so I love to meet fellow enthusiasts. It's only 50 cents a game there, which means if you go there and play 9 games, you're only spending 20 cents more than you'd spend playing 9 games at Wunderland (although the comparison is kind of arbitrary now that playing DDR at Wunderland is impossible :[).
Just send me a PM some time. I'm free pretty much any day of the week right now so just pick a day and I'll see if I have plans.

Okay, so I've decided that the time that works best would be
July 11th July 10th.
But if you can't go, never fear! I'll try to set up a second meetup like this one in August, too.
The dresscode:
Casual cosplay is perfered. However, if you want, you can come in full cosplay. I will be in casual cosplay for sure, and possibly lolita if something goes wrong. Japanese fashions are also allowed, and you can show up not in costume if you want.
For the time, how about we meet at 11:30 in Kinokuniya? Then we can each buy our own lunch/snacks and then head over to Wunderland. The ending date will be however long you want to stay.

I'm afraid I have a campout the weekend of 10-12th. Unless they change it up I'm a no show.

I can lead a bike expedition if anyone else feels like going for option D for getting from Uwajimaya to Wunderland. I can scout out the area ahead of time so that I can actually determine the best route, appropriate speeds, and transit time. I pretty much won't pay to ride a bus unless I need to be somewhere by a specific time or I absolutely can't afford to sweat, and unless someone has trunkspace for a collapsible bike and a seat for a medium-sized individual, driving wouldn't be an option for me.

The thing is, I already have the boots and the hair for Italy, but the outfit would be hard to get, I have the boots and the pants for FemGermany, but the rest of it would.....still be hard to get, but easier to find. Oh yeah, also, the cost of admission for Wunderland is $2.50, but you probably want to bring some more money to trade for nickels so you can play the games.

So I'd like to know how you guys are planning to get from Uwajimaya to Wunderland. My original plan was to walk and bus there, but I think that I'll actually be able to get a ride in a car. It would be cool if we could set up a carpool, but we might not have enough cars. If a large group is bussing, I'll print out the mapquest instructions and go along. I also think that a group is going to be biking; is that true?
How do each of you plan to get to Wunderland from Uwajimaya?

Yeah, I'd say just come anyway, with whatever you've got or feel like wearing. Seems like it's more "cosplay encouraged" than "cosplay required". If I can come, I wouldn't be cosplaying either.

Also if anyone wants to take an early break from the arcade, because trust me the Beaveron Wunderland does not have much too offer, I can show people where the local Comic/Game/Toy store is.

That area of town actually has two gems of comic shops, TFAW a few blocks away and then the Comics/Hobbies right across the parking lot. The second one is great, has a lot of rare stuff, but it can be spendy and is like walking into a crammed closet, lol.

I agree that Heroes and Hobbies has a great selection of rare and older stuff. But I personally hate the place.
THe guy who works there is a royal jerk, and it doesn't open uptill way late.
I prefer THings from Another World.

So this is the plan- we'll meet in Kinokuniya at 11:30. Once everyone has arrived, we can go buy lunch, and head over to Wunderland when everyone is done. Then people can do their own things from there.

It's up to the person. If you can get a ride, then do it. Otherwise, Konan is going to being walking halfway and then taking the bus, so you could probably tag along with her. I might take the bus too, to make sure everyone gets there.

Oh wow, a lot of last-minute cancellations.
I can go, along with four of my friends who haven't posted here but I talked to irl. I think that we have enough people still going that changing the date would cause more problems than it would solve, but if this works out, I want to do it again in August.
Also- It costs $2.50 to get into Wunderland. A couple of dollars can get you quite a few games, too. As for lunch, feel free to eat beforehand if you need/want to. I'm probably going to buy a few little snack-y things to eat. As far as I know, Wunderland doesn't allow food inside, so eat before we get there.

I know that they for sure have air hockey, but the last time I was there, they didn't have DDR. But the last time I was there was like three months ago, so maybe they got a machine. That would be super awesome if they did.

Wunderland sold all of their DDR machines. They sold the first two in August 2007, the one that was in Salem was sold in May 2008, and the ones are Gateway Wunderland and the Avalon were sold in July 2008. They sold the rest of their rhythm games in May this year and instead purchased a handful of absolutely horrendous Guitar Hero cabinets. :/

ku ku ku ku....... I'll admit that today's event was pretty good(Although, I didn't get anything at the Kinokuniya bookstore). If any of us want to do this again, let's try Clackamas Town Center later in the year. Mainly because there's this store("Unique Imports") that sells LOTS of plushies, J-rock and J-pop cds, keychains, swords to go along with what character you're cosplaying from a samurai anime, etc, etc.....

The Clackamas Town Center has a decent selection of stores, and is actually one of the larger malls in the area; it's about the same size as the Lloyd Center if I'm not mistaken, plus a larger food court and parking off the heezy. There are a few meetups that usually pop up every 3 or 4 months there, so keep your eyes out for them. I haven't been to any of those meetups, but I've heard they're usually pretty fun. Like Beaverton though, Happy Valley is pretty out of the way for some people.
I'll probably be putting together get-togethers every couple weeks in August, mostly at Ground Kontrol or Lloyd Center and focusing around gaming, because that's what I'm into. I might do a Hawthorne meetup too if I can find good places for medium to large-sized groups to hang out. Bear in mind that costumes aren't really something I'm interested in, so I wouldn't be doing cosplay gatherings; just opportunities to hang out. I won't stop anyone from cosplaying though.
Also, get-togethers aside, if any of you want to hang out, hit me up via PM here or shoot me a text/call if you have my number.
